Work Text:

The great warriors of legends are commonly alphas. A handsome, strong and commanding man, who goes through countless misadventures before finally getting his destined Omega. Those were the most popular stories, selling like kimchi for all sub-genres.

The Great Sects, who boasted of detachment from worldly affairs, still held similar ideals in the back of their minds. Of course, my cute Sajae is an omega who needs my protection as the alpha daesahyung. And this beta Sahyung is perfect for management as he is calm and level headed.

However, there was a rumor that was constantly growing, subverting all kinds of stereotypes. Many believed that it was a lie or the product of a misunderstanding. The eight-knot beggar swore on his ancestors that it was nothing but the truth: the Plum Blossom Sword Saint is an omega.

It wasn't just beggars, well known for their reputation for getting reliable information. Elders from multiple sects claimed the same, and later the Mount Hua Leader of the Sect indirectly confirmed this himself by announcing that he would not receive marriage proposals for his Sajae. These kinds of practices were specifically for the omegas, for whom they fought to court starting by asking their closest relatives for permission, in this case Jangmun-in himself.

Chung Myung didn't seem to notice the storm he caused. He lived according to himself, running around Shaanxi as if it were his playground, drinking at Zhongnan until dawn, and beating up the bastards who interrupted his dinner. It was not strange then that this lifestyle drew the angry gazes of various groups of people, and there was never a need for the swordsman who would raise his sword against the Sword Saint.

It was a common sight to see Chung Myung beating up these kinds of people, but never in his fifty years of life had he come across the other very common type of stereotypical hooligans: that alpha that would try to force a union on the omegas for one reason or another.

Anyone trying to get over him? Impossible.

Someone who thinks of being superior to him? Only his Leader of the Sect.

Someone trying to take advantage of him while he's going through his heat? Bring that bloody bastard to tear him apart with his bare hands—

The thought hadn't even crossed Chung Myung's head. He lived sheltered within the distant mountains, raised on the Taoist principles that his fellow disciples followed better than him, where everyone was more or less equal... In short, Chung Myung grew up with a bunch of kind-hearted jerks.

The outside world was not so forgiving. His escapes had been swift so far, all ending in successful adventures filled with good anecdotes despite the incessant worries of his Sahyung. The food was nice and the alcohol delicious, so how did the night start to go down hill? Perhaps it was when the headache that followed him turned into a fever, and slowly followed by dizziness that enveloped his mind in a thick fog.

When he thought he faintly perceived the smell of plum, he recognized his condition for what it was. Ah, it seemed like he was a bit ahead, but it was definitely his heat.

"Ahjussi, to the nearest town!" Chung Myung exclaimed, drowning his voice on the pillow he improvised from his outer robe. The man driving the wagon didn't expect to be referred to as uncle by this guy who was almost twice his age, but against his discomfort he waved the horses' reins obediently. The man he was wearing was wearing the famous Mount Hua Sect's plum embroidery on his chest, it was better not to make these guys angry.

Chung Myung huddled in the back of the wagon, thinking to himself how miserable he was. There were many kinds of suffering, but none quite like going through the heat as a poor unmatched Omega. In those periods of time, the despair caused by the lack of something to fill him frustrated him to the point of anger. It was likely that his surroundings would end up being a mess, a little worse than if a whirlwind had passed through his room.

Heavens bless the innocent soul who crossed his path when he decided to leave his room in the delusions of his fever to find a 'suitable mate'. Omegas had high requirements, but Chung Myung had been pampered his entire life, so he was even more demanding. If he said so himself, they were pretty simple conditions. He just had to be handsome, good-natured, get along with his Sahyung, accept that Mount Hua was his priority, and most importantly...  He must have been able to defeat Chung Myung in a fight.

The Chung Myung who was in a state of fever did not know friends or enemies, he only had one goal: to find his ideal partner. Still, his blurry vision kept him from seeing other faces well, and he couldn't begin to think about his personality when he was desperate for a sexual partner. So he went for the last requirement, being even more lenient than usual: they had to defeat a Sword Saint who came with killing intent.

Most of the disciples who were targeted by his sword fled in panic and tears in the eyes. He wasn't sure why even alphas would run from him, when he'd heard that omegas in heat had a way of attracting others to protect them. Later, his Sahyung informed him that his scent was so violent that he was often mistaken for an alpha. Chung Myung held back a snort. Wasn't he the most desirable Omega in all of Shaanxi? Alphas should be lining up for the chance to fight him for his hand!

Wishes come true in the strangest way. As Chung Myung quietly lay back ruminating on his luck in an attempt to calm his growing state of violent intent, the car came to a sudden stop, taking him out of his mind.

"Hold right there! You better go down and give us all your belongings if you don't want to get hurt!"

A deep, harsh voice threatened the driver, exuding a powerful aura with its pheromones. The cold smell of metal yet fresh with a hint of hawthorn caught Chung Myung's attention, and he stuck his head out. One of the fry next to the imposing aura noticed the movement, pinpointing his location quickly.

"What do we have here? If it's not a little Omega going into heat..."

The man next to him narrowed his eyes, subtly sniffing the air.

"Oh, it's quite a pure smell, doesn't it smell like the boss's favorite liquor?"

Said boss was also looking in Chung Myung's direction, walking slowly until he was just a few steps away from the curious gaze of crystallized eyes.

"Ah, aren't you a beauty? Walking around these parts in that state is dangerous, how about you join us?", the chief coaxed, letting intentions tinge his scent.

Chung Myung smiled slightly, knowing in his heart what this was: finally, a decent alpha who asked for a match against him! He resisted the urge to preen himself with satisfaction, knowing he was an irresistible omega after all, it was only a matter of time before the proposals poured in.

(He never thought there was a very protective and threatening Leader of the Sect Sahyung who put an end to them before they could even start).

Chung Myung got up, full of expectation, landing in front of the bandit boss. The smallest hint of a blush on his cheeks could be seen in the light of the setting sun.

"You want pass my heat with me, is that so?" The sound of metal scraping against the scabbard as it was drawn was heard in the silence. "Fine... You just have to defeat me first."

The boss thought it was the swordsman's attempt to fend off the threat, so he said, "No need to worry, I treat my mates very well."

Chung Myung's face darkened a bit at the mention of other couples. It's okay, people who were Chung Myung's age had gone through several couples to make their jealousy less, his case was more strange.

"It is so. If you're not as strong as me, it doesn't matter."

The bandit then realized. "Is it your courtship ritual?" he asked with a laugh, drawing his own sword. Before the boss could say anything, the world tilted, and in an instant the omega was gone from his field of vision. The boss continued to fall, unable to do anything about it. The sight of his own body falling to his knees greeted him.

Why his body...?

Ah, he had been beheaded.

His last thought was: I think I found out who he is.

There was a crazy rumor going around about an incredibly strong omega, who didn't hesitate to slice off the heads of his suitors as if they were his long-time enemies.

Sword Saint Plum Blossom.

The cries of the minions echoed across the deserted mountains, snuffing out like candles before the wind under the deadly blade. In the end, only the man with the wagon and Chung Myung himself were left alive. As the swordsman's dark gaze fell on the man, he let out a calming omega scent.

'He is like me', Chung Myung thought. 'I'm safe.'

Then he was back at the run with blunt movements. Curling up on the straw sadly. After all, there wasn't a single worthy alpha, even when Chung Myung had fallen into such a weakened state.

He had met many people in his life, but those who shared the title of the three strongest fled as soon as they heard rumors of his presence. He made another bet with Tang Bo, although it was Tang Bo who approached him first, however he was beaten to a pulp as soon as the signs of his heat began.

Chung Myung sadly sighed to heaven.

He wished he was an alpha, then at least looking for an omega wouldn't be so difficult.

... But wishes come true in the strangest way.

One hundred and few years later, Chung Myung reincarnated as an alpha with a Mount Hua full of omegas.

Then, he thought to himself whit a whining voice: "being an alpha is so troublesome! I wish I was an omega again!"

... Chung Myung-ah is too good for you punks. Keep your hands off him!
