“Your brother said I might be able to stay here,” Sharon says softly.
Sarah looks her up and down. She smiles at Sharon and nods.
“You can stay,” she says. “As long as you can promise my boys stay safe.”
“I promise,” Sharon says.
Sarah’s home becomes her safe haven, a place away from everything that’s haunting her. Sarah is good to her and kind. It’s far more than Sharon thinks she deserves these days. She’s grateful for it.
She finds herself more reluctant to leave each day. Sarah is something precious. Sharon doesn’t want to let go of her.
