Summary
Some time after the events concerning Irene Adler, Watson sits down and starts to pen their adventures. He's finding it extraordinarily difficult to list the attitudes between Adler and Holmes - thankfully, Holmes has his own suggestions, and Watson learns something about his friend.

have come across some of this author's posts and tags on tumblr (organchordsandlightning) and this is SUCH a lovely scene.
i love seeing all the different contexts in which people propose that canon details are Watson purposefully obfuscating or omitting the truth, and i love the idea here (though a bit heartbreaking) that Holmes himself suggested to a reluctant Watson that he describe him as a cold and calculating machine to whom the slightest speck of sentiment would equate grit on the lens of a microscope -- and that the mischaracterization would be bearable as long as Watson continues to truly know him and the forms his sentiment takes.
they don't have the words for aromanticism, of course, but the understanding is beautifully present. Watson seeing how deeply he affected Holmes by leaving and allowing them to grow distant, and vowing not to leave him again -- my ENTIRE HEART.
