Come back Echo! We’re a mess!

Summary:

Set during and around season two of Star Wars the Bad Batch

So, Echo joined Rex’s cause and the Batch broke. Totally!

Part of Echo/Hunter series.

Notes:

Saw a humours pic on the internets in regards of the Batch missing Echo, the most Mom of the group and then this thing popped up.

PS. Echo really has become my favourite it seems?!

Please enjoy!

Chapter 1: Echo! This is urgent! Please respond!

Chapter Text

‘Missing a family member when their gone somewhere else… especially when the kitchen sink gets stuck with goo or the tooka won’t take it’s medicine, the spaceship won’t start and… well, you get the gist!’

“Echo, come in please. This is Hunter!”

There was no response on the other end though. Only static crackling on the open comm line.

“Echo, it’s urgent. Please respond!”

The static was still there as if taunting Hunter. The line very much open still… Hunter had double checked. But still no word back from Echo.

“Karking Sithspit Motherfucker!”

Hunter was at the very verge of his wits. This was all getting out of hand! Going to hell more likely and in a very large size hand basket no less! Dammit! Hunter needed Echo! Now!

“Echo… oh never mind.” Hunter closed the comm line on his end leaving the frequency open.

The ruckus on the background was getting even louder now. Hunter having difficulty in concentrating on anything. Finally loosing his cool he shouted to the group causing all the noise.

“Will you three keep it quiet for a Force damn minute! I am trying to call Echo in here!”

The others did fall silent. Clearly frightened of Hunter’s sudden(?) outburst. But only for a moment. And then without any warning the bickering started again. Even louder this time if possible?

“It’s all your fault!” Omega’s voice whined.

“How can it be my fault? I barely touched the kriffing thing.” Wrecker’s tone was impossibly high, as if trying to match the whininess of Omega’s.

“Wrecker! Mind your language!” Tech’s tone was clipped even if the swearing had become totally commonplace on the Marauder during the past few weeks.

“Sor-ry! But like said I didn’t touch that damned thing!” Wrecker was still on the defensive his voice positively loud now.

“So how come it looks like someone tore it off the wall? Huh? Can you tell me how that happened?” Omega was pressing on bating Wrecker.

“Well, guess it just… blew up? Cause it’s old? I dunno?”

Tech was running his scan over the broken device. “I won’t be able to fix this. The parts needed are not something we have on the ship.”

“But.. I.. was gonna…” Omega was at the verge of tears all of a sudden, her emotions all over the place.

Hunter had been glaring at the drama unfolding in front of him. This was the… well.. Hunter had lost count on how many fights the three of them had had in the past few weeks. Himself sometimes having found to be in the middle of them too. All happening ever since Echo…

But Hunter tried to steer clear even if he did not like to see the others bickering over things because something went wrong or someone did something they were not supposed to. Or did not understand something would break just because the oven for heating food only should not have been used to dry ones skivvies in it!

Skivvies! What had Wrecker been thinking?! Drying his clothing in the oven!?

And quite honestly, Hunter was so done! With the Batch, the ship, all of it!

Back in the day Echo had been the one to step in whenever the family members got into a scuffle over something or another in the confines of the Marauder. But these days the blowups between them were starting to be on ridiculous levels. Anyone firing up from the littlest of things going wrong.

Hunter sighed heavily and tried the comms for the umpteenth time.

“Echo, it’s Hunter. If you get this message… please respond. I… we are in big trouble and could really, really need your help!”
