Sirius always wondered what happened to his brother. He wanted to know how he died, of course he did. But really, he wanted to ease his own guilt. He wanted an excuse to blame something, someone, else. Anyone.
When Barty Jr was dragged in kicking and screaming to a cell not to far from his own, Sirius's heart raced. He knew immediately that it was bad.
When the lights dimmed and talking died down Sirius called out to him. Asked him about reggie. The boys tears had stopped and he'd been startled by the silence.
"Gone" a hoarse voice had whispered.
"Gone".
Gone. Gone. Gone.
