Work Text:

Bdubs had been elated when Tango asked him for help. Tango! Wanted him! To help on Decked Out!

Decked Out from season one had been outstanding. Amazing! And he, Bdubs, was going to help on it.

Unfortunately, it wasn't working. Nothing was working right! It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that he was going to disappoint Tango like this.

He had always thought that maybe, deep down, he just... Wasn't as good. That he didn't belong with the rest of the hermits.

So he had to do this right. For Tango.

He could hear the pocket-watch hanging from his belt ticking, alerting him that time was passing. But after a long time the ticking just became part of the background noise.

Tick. Place block. Tock. Place block. It was an easy rhythm to fall into, and he repeated it.

But it still didn't look how he wanted.

Tick. Tock.

He tried a new pallette.

Tick. Tock.

He added more details.

Tick. Tock.

 "Bdubs?"

Bdubs flinched, looking around. Oh... Tango. Tango? Right. This was his build. He could be here. Bdubs couldn't seem to formulate words in his mind to respond, instead staring blankly at the blaze hybrid.

The tiredness had finally caught up to him, it seemed. He had fallen out of his cycle. And now he was starting to realize what had happened. He had stayed up for void knows how long, building Tango's boat.

Tango said something else, a concerned look falling over his face. Then he was falling... Why was he...? He hit the floor, his vision fading from the bright hues of the world to darkness...

Something wrapped around his waist, lithe arms that emanated warmth. He was lifted up, and then there was the smell of ash...

The gentle arms carried him down the stairs, into the captain's bed. He curled up a little, blankets draping over him as he rested his head on the enormous pillow he had placed here. He was thankful for it, now.

He lay there shivering for a moment before a warmth fell in beside him, the arms returning to around his waist.

The warmth pressed against his back, nuzzling the nape of his neck. The last bit of consciousness faded from him, and then he was asleep.

...

When Bdubs woke up again, it was daytime. He blinked sleepily, looking around as he regained his memories from the previous day. Oh. Right.

He was about to get up from bed, but then he felt two arms around his middle, keeping him there. Who...?

He shifted a bit, turning around slightly. Tango's face was pressed up against his neck, his chest pressed up to Bdubs' back. Tango would look pretty nice if he wasn't drooling onto the pillow with the most atrocious bedhead Bdubs had ever seen.

He tried to stand up, and Tango whined, shaking his head.

"5 more minutes..." Bdubs rolled his eyes, staying still.

Well, he guessed he had needed a good rest anyways.
