Work Text:
Steven didn’t know what to expect. He had never been to the doctor aside from that time he had broken in with Connie to retrieve his mother’s sword.
Steven started to glow pink at the memory.
It may be best not to think about any of that for now.
The glowing lessened.
It was going great at first until Dr. Maheswaran had decided to check his heartbeat…and his gem.
The action had surprised him, he wasn’t expecting her to lift up his shirt and-
“It’s time to come out, Pink.”
A hand came towards him, ready to pull out
her
-
his
gem.
Not again. Not again.
Steven didn’t notice the pink bubble that had popped up to protect him. He didn’t notice he had his arm up to block anyone who tried to reach for his gem. How he moved to the corner of the room.
…Who was he even protecting himself from?
White Diamond , his mind whispered. She’s right there and she’s going to take your gem again. She still thinks you’re Pink. You are just like her after all .
“-ven? Steven, it’s Dr. Maheswaran. You’re safe with me in the hospital.”
Hospital?
Oh, right. He was in an appointment with Connie’s mom.
“Sorry,” Steven mumbled before lowering his bubble. “I didn’t mean to- I don’t know why I flinched like that.”
“It’s okay,” assured Dr. Maheswaran. “Let’s take a small break, we can continue when you’re feeling better.”
“But I’m fine!” Steven insisted.
She didn’t seem to believe him.
