Work Text:
The sun began its usual routine once it passed a particular time in the afternoon, settling down the rays it blasted all through the day. As it slowly sank in the horizon, the tips of the clouds faintly reflected the orange rays, and parts of the blue sky formed a gradient with the shades of pinks and reds.
Eichi gazed at the sky, watching the clouds gently get pushed by the light breeze that passed by ever so often. It had been a wonderful day, he thought, smiling to himself in satisfaction. He never thought he would have any words of satisfaction after a day off, but here he is, humming to himself about his enjoyable break.
He had never particularly enjoyed taking a day off, his days were numbered, and he could not afford to waste anymore time than he’s already lost. Though those numbers were never specified, his constant pain and visits to the hospital when he was in high school were all the hints needed to signify to Eichi that he never had enough time.
Eichi sipped his tea, carefully bringing it close to his lips before blowing air to cool it off. After another successful Eichi’s Day, as the other members of Fine put it. But it was never quite perfect to Eichi, the burden of his work was always creeping back out into his head once he found himself to be enjoying this day off. He sighed, now remembering all the backlog of work he would have once the sun rises once again.
“Fufu. I knew I sensed a depressive atmosphere.”
Eichi cut his train of thought short to find the person that had that beloved voice. He turned his head into the direction of the voice. He was met with a familiar smile, and a gaze that observed Eichi with a watchful eye.
“Hello, Wataru,” Eichi said lovingly as he set down his cup onto the saucer.
Wataru hums in delight as a response. He walked over to the rounded table and took the seat opposite to Eichi’s. They shared a sweet moment, eyes locked onto each other. Eichi softened his gaze, the solemn look and work-related thoughts that washed his features were now overpowered by his awe for the being that sat in front of him. Eichi had always adored the magician, and Eichi never hid his ever-growing affections for his eccentric partner. To the point that even his unitmates and coworkers complained about it from time to time.
“Eichi, what was it that bothered you?” Wataru asked, placing one of his hands to cup one side of his face and relaxed his arm onto the table. Wataru maintained that eager and gentle smile, but his eyes presented a bit of worry.
“I was only worried about tomorrow, Wataru. The day after all, is ending,” Eichi replied, shifting his vision from the blue-haired oddball to the now purple shaded sky.
The venue of Eichi’s Day had the perfect view of the pale glow of the moon, with a crystal clear view of the moon taking the sun’s place as it announces its presence in the night.
“I had thought you left earlier to continue on with your work. Even though we all insist you take a break once in a while, most especially today. You were always so passionate about your dreams, Eichi.”
Wataru’s eyes stayed on Eichi’s figure, carefully taking note of everything that graced the features of his diligent leader and partner. He noticed the way his look had almost completely changed once the sight of his beloved idol appeared, the glint in his eye when he saw Wataru appear.
“But, please worry not tonight, my beloved.”
With these words of reassurance, Eichi glanced back onto Wataru, and then the doting look on his face was evident. The words of his beloved brought a warm feeling that enveloped Eichi in a hug, in order to protect him from the dropping temperatures the night brought. Although he felt like he was hallucinating the warm feeling in his chest, he wouldn’t be surprised if Wataru had actually managed to do that. After all, Wataru had never failed to entertain him, no matter how predictable his actions may have been sometimes, it always brought a smile to Eichi’s face.
Wataru chuckled, feeling prideful of brightening the mood of Eichi. “To further uplift the mood of my beloved, I have a present for you.”
Wataru looked happier than ever when Eichi’s eyes widened in surprise when a small gift of affection had graced their table that fine evening.
It was a neatly tied bouquet of roses. Each rose was patterned and carefully placed in the thick wrapping. The white roses formed a circle around the red roses, which were placed in the center of the bouquet. It smelled wonderful.
“Oh my, is this a love confession, my dear Wataru?” Eichi teased, as he continued to softly caress almost each of the flowers. As he observes the flowers, he tries to recall the small knowledge of flower language he knew. “If my memory serves me right, white roses mean “great respect”. The red ones on the other hand,” Eichi paused, lifted his hand and placed one of them onto the petals of the rose. His smile grew wider at the implication Wataru was giving him through this bouquet.
Eichi continued, “A classic way to say “I love you” to your significant other.”
After a while of admiration, Eichi looked to Wataru, who was now standing beside him. “Fufu. If you didn’t know, white roses can also symbolize everlasting love,” Wataru explained with glee. “Now, I believe this bouquet has spoken enough for me.”
Before Wataru could proceed to the finale of the night, Eichi had stood up and placed one of the red roses into his hair. He gently placed it above his ear to not have it fall off.
“Let this be a token of appreciation, Wataru. The rose suits you very much.” Eichi admired his work, even though it was rushed, Wataru managed to look even more majestic in his eyes.
Wataru remained completely still during the process. He was left in curiosity, wondering as to what accessory his partner had put on him. He raised his hand, lightly patting down the spot where Eichi had placed the flower.
He gave Eichi a smile in thanks and in appreciation. He cupped his head with his hands, lightly rubbing small circles onto his cheek. “Let me return this kind gesture, Eichi.”
Wataru takes a few steps backwards, and gracefully bows his head. He extended his hand with his palm facing upwards.
“It would be an honor to dance with you, Eichi.”
Eichi, charmed by his partner’s theatrics, happily placed his hand on Wataru’s palm.
“And it would be a great pleasure to dance with you, Wataru.”
He slowly felt Wataru closing his hand in a secure grip. Then Wataru placed his other hand steadily on Eichi’s waist. Eichi then placed his hand on his partner’s shoulder. This form was similar to that of waltz, and ballroom dancing was one of the many skills that Eichi prided himself on.
This wasn’t the first time the two had done this, they had done the same when they were going to perform Tempest Night. Oh what a lovely memory to recall, the both of them thought. They freely danced backstage, even though it was wasting Eichi’s stamina, the moment he shared with Wataru couldn’t get him to back down so easily.
Now here they are again, this time, with Wataru seemingly leading the dance.
Once Wataru had made sure that Eichi was good to go, he began to start their waltz. Stepping one foot, Eichi followed him. They started out slowly, carefully navigating their way through the space as they danced in almost complete darkness, if it weren’t for the light emitting from the street lantern and the light illuminating from the moon.
Although Eichi enjoyed the gracefulness of the waltz, he didn’t seem to care whether the one he was dancing in right now with Wataru was perfectly elegant. He simply focused on Wataru. His eyes were glued onto the beauty that was Hibiki Wataru. Now he was actually (partially) wrapped in the warmth of his love.
Wataru shared the sentiment, his eyes were simply focused on his own idol, Tenshouin Eichi. He lovingly stared into his eyes, as they both shared their love for another in this twice and maybe more than in a lifetime waltz. Eichi’s hand in his was by far the most amazing feeling that Wataru has experienced. The warmth they both shared, the reassuring squeezes all throughout their steps, and the occasional rubbing their thumbs on one side of the other’s fingers.
As their steps begin to slow, Eichi notices that the performance they had put on for themselves, was about to end. It saddened him, but Wataru gently placed his forehead on top of his own, startling Eichi. His hands slithered from Eichi’s hand and waist to the sides of his face, holding it in his hands gently.
“I hope you enjoyed today, Eichi,” Wataru whispered gently, closing his eyes as the two of them simply swayed. Wataru felt the softness of Eichi’s skin, enjoying the physical intimacy they are showing to each other right now.
Eichi leaned back onto Wataru’s forehead. And placed his hands on the sides of Wataru’s neck. “With you here right now, of course I would, Wataru.”
He followed the other’s lead, even though they were going in no particular direction, the fondness the two shared for each other was made evident in these moments. Silently whispering their words of affection and gratitude to the other, while having them securely locked in the other’s embrace.
Just as the waltz they did in Tempest Night, Eichi wanted to bask in the moment forever, to not let go of Wataru just yet. He wished this was the life he lived, but of course, parting would always happen in the world where time had always passed in moments where you enjoyed yourself the most.
As Wataru slowly dropped his hands from Eichi’s face, he was stopped by him suddenly. Wataru guessed the look on his beloved’s face, and could only giggle at his childishness. “It’s always so adorable to see you like this.”
But instead of insisting for the other to let go, Wataru returned his palms to Eichi’s face.
Eichi placed his hands gently on top of Wataru’s, desperate for more of his warmth. Wataru sighed, amused by his actions, tilted Eichi’s head downwards, before giving a long kiss at the crown of his forehead, as if it was Wataru’s way of saying goodbye for the night.
“We will have more moments like these, Eichi, I won’t disappear.”
