Work Text:
On a Friday afternoon, the final bell had rang and students flooded the hallways to finally start their weekend.
It was a rainy summer afternoon and Alec was grabbing his bag while the hallway began to grow silent as students left. He rummaged through his locker to find his umbrella but sighed frustrately. he somehow lost it. Giving one more sigh of annoyance, he plugged in his airpods.
He made his way towards the entrance but to his surprise he saw his friend Kyran at the door. He looks like he was about to leave but guessing as he was crouched down, an untied shoe was stopping him.
Alec pulled out his airpods and lightly knocked on the door to get his attention.
Kyran looked up, and once he saw him he rolled his eyes. “oh, it’s you.”
Alec scoffed. “c’mon don’t act like that.”
Kyran noticed his lack of an umbrella and chuckled at him, already forgetting his annoyance at him. “Left your umbrella too?”
“yeah, somehow lost it earlier,” he eyed the storm outside the building. “It’s going to be a long walk to the dorms.”
“Yeah,” Kyran agreed. He had pulled out a book to cover his head. “Do you want to race?”
“race? To where?” Alec asked, seemingly confused at Kyran’s offer.
“the dorms,obviously!”
“But-“ he began to protest but kyran already rushed out the door. Leaving Alec behind. The red head sighed and zipped up his sweater before chasing after his friend.

It was a rainy summer afternoon and Alec was grabbing his bag while the hallway began to grow silent as students left. He rummaged through his locker to find his umbrella but sighed frustrately. He somehow lost it. Giving one more sigh of annoyance, he plugged in his airpods.
He was about to close his locker, but he had paused.
Something wasn’t right is what he thought. He checked the time on his phone to find it was almost 3:30. He turned it off and looked around him. The hall was peaceful and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
Alec remained paused for a moment before he wrapped his bag on his shoulder and carried on. Making his way to the school’s entrance.
He journey had been cut short as a familiar blue haired boy was in the way. He was tying his shoe.
Alec pulled out his airpods and lightly knocked on the door to get his attention.
Kyran looked up, and once he saw him he rolled his eyes. “oh, it’s you.”
Alec scoffed. “c’mon don’t act like—” the feeling had struck again. Stopping him in his steps. Kyran who finished tying his shoes looked at him once more due to Alec going quiet. Kyran gave him a concerned look.
“Is something, wrong?”
Alec woken up from his trance and gave his head a light shake. “uh, yeah, just… tired.” Kyran got up from the floor and hummed in response.
“Oh, you forgot your umbrella, too?” Kyran noticed. Giving out a small chuckle.
Alec sighed at that. “yeah, somehow lost it earlier,” he eyed the storm outside the building. “It’s going to be a long walk to the dorms.”
“Yeah,” Kyran agreed. He had pulled out a book to cover his head. Not worrying that his book might get ruined. “Do you want to race?”
“race? To where?” Alec asked, seemingly confused at Kyran’s offer.
“the dorms, obviously!”
“But-“ he began to protest but kyran already rushed out the door. Leaving Alec behind. The red head sighed and zipped up his sweater before chasing after his friend.

Fuck.
Alec had thought. Shutting his locker door rather loudly. Getting some looks from students before they left the building.
Alec sighed then leaned his head against the locker door. He took out his airpods and reluctantly left his locker.
He walked up to the entranced and knocked at the doorframe. Getting the attention of kyran. Who was tying his shoe.
“Hey.” Is what he said, somehow feeling unmotivated to give his usual greetings. Kyran gave a hum in response before getting up, opening his bag to grab a book. It was his history book.
Kyran, noticed his lack an of umbrella and chuckled. “forgot your umbrella, too?”
Alec glanced at his bag. Oh, he didn’t realized until now. “I must’ve lost it earlier.” he would search his bag but something tells him that he wouldn’t find it.
Kyran looks outside. An unknown emotion on his face, before it’s washed away and replaced with his usual grin.
“Do you want to race?” He asked. Already carrying his book over his head to block out the rain. Alec looks outside then glances at him. Giving him a blank look.
Kyran doesn’t wait for an answer and turns to run, but an arm holds him in place.
“what?” he asks, surprised at Alec’s sudden action. “Is there something you want to say?”
Alec opens his mouth, but pauses. He closes it but opens it again to speak.
His mind is blank.
To be honest, he’s not sure why he grabbed him but he has a feeling something would happen if he let him go.
He couldn’t really explain this to Kyran so he gave a small shrug. Kyran rolled his eyes at that and roughly shook his arm. Breaking out of his hold.
“anyway, I’ll start running.”
Alec suddenly remembers what he was going to say, so he reaches out an arm. “W-Wait!” he shouted.
But it was too late. Kyran was already pushing the doors open and running off into the harsh rain. Alec stares after him in silence before reluctantly following behind.

On a Friday afternoon, the final bell had rang and students flooded the hallways to finally start their weekend.
It was a rainy summer afternoon and Alec was grabbing his bag while the hallway began to grow silent as students left. he plugged in his airpods.
He was getting a headache.
He made his way towards the entrance but to his surprise he saw his friend Kyran at the door. He was leaning against it, as if he was waiting for someone. Kyran noticed him and gave a small wave. Alec returned it.
He pulled out his airpods. “Are you waiting for someone?” Alec asks. His head is aching by the second. He feels like he should be remembering something but he brushes it off.
“Yeah. I was waiting for you.” He said, already pulling out his history book.
“Aw, how romantic.” He teased. Kyran chuckled at that.
Alec was about to say something but kyran interrupted by nodding his head at the pouring rain. “I forgot my umbrella.” He said. His eyes giving off an almost tired look.
Puzzles began to click in his mind as Alec noticed his umbrella wasn’t in his bag. He sighed in annoyance.
“I did too.”
It’s silent between them besides the music in Alec’s airpods. Alec memorized the lyrics and beats, and noticed the song was almost over.
Kyran traced his finger over the design of his book before sighing.
“Do you want to—”
“Don’t.” He interrupted. He turned off his headphones before putting it in his pocket. He was sick of this song. “Don’t finish that sentence.”
Kyran kept his mouth shut and just gave him a nod.
They both stayed there in silence as the minutes ticked by. The rain getting harsher by tbe second. He wants to wait out the storm.
But before he can even try----

On a Friday afternoon, the final bell had rang and students flooded the hallways to finally start their weekend.
“What the fuck is happening!” he shouted. He was how many feet away from kyran who was reading a few pages from his history book. He hadn’t stepped anywhere near the entrance, in fear of triggering anything.
“Do I look like I know?” Kyran bit back. His grey eyes glaring at him. “I’m in the same boat as you!”
Alec leaned against the wall and ran a hand in his hair. “Why is this happening? Why are we stuck?” He dropped down and hugged his knees.
From the last loops, the two had realized that they always gain conscious whenever they’re at the entrance. If they don’t black out and carry on with the loop, they would just restart. So far, no matter what they’d do, it was futile.
“we’re almost out of time.” Kyran has said. Slowly ripping tiny pieces out of his book. His looked tired and honestly? Who can blame him? He was too.
“I know.”

“Do you think this is the work of some divine Spirit?” Alec asked. Looking at the pouring rain.
“What?”
“or maybe the devil?”
Kyran sighed. “Are we really that important for it to mess with us?”
Alec shrug at the response. “I was just throwing out ideas.” The redhead stretched. “But who knows really? For all we know we could be dead and stuck here for eternity.”
“like hell?” Kyran asked. Checking the time on his phone. It was almost up. Alec shrugged once more. “maybe? I dunno.”
“Did we do something bad to end up like this?” Kyran grabbed his book. An automatic thing that couldn’t be stopped. Kyran noticed the way Alec froze. Like he knew something he didn’t.
“Hey, I saw that.”
“You didn’t see a thing.”
-
“So this is a hell thing!” Kyran exclaimed, sitting on the ground. Alec leaned against the wall. The redhead rolled his eyes.
“we were already in hell before we got here, anyway. It doesn’t mean anything.”
“Then why did you freeze up earlier?” he pointed out.
Alec avoided his grey eyes. Choosing to once again look outside.
“You’re avoiding the question, Alec.”
He gave out an annoyed sigh. Running his hand through his hair. “its none of your business.”
Kyran scoffed. “if it wasn’t my business, we wouldn’t be here.”
“If I’m here for my crimes, then why are you here with me?” Alec was glaring at him now. “What did you do?”
Kyran looked lost in thought before he shrugged. “I suppose I did a lot of breaking and entering with funneh and gold but that would mean they were supposed to be here with us.”
Alec sat on the ground. “then, is there something we have to do? Do we have to kill eachother or something?”
Kyran shook his head. “nah, we’ll save that for last just in case we end up not returning.” Kyran flipped the book open.”but we can try getting to know eachother more.”
“like how?”
Kyran tapped his book in a continuous beat. It was the beat of the song Alec was listening too earlier. It seems they both had memorized it. “maybe it’s like that one fanfic trope.” Kyran did a motion with his hand. “y’know, the flower one.”
Alec rolled his eyes. “and how are we supposed to do that?” He hugged his knees again. “Do we need to reveal something to eachother?”
“as far as I know, yes, but I think it has to be something you haven’t told anyone.” Kyran glanced at the rain. “something that’s been eating you alive.”
Alec was quiet. They both were. With that suggestion out there, it seemed they both had something eating them alive. Though Alec was more hesitant on revealing it.
“Hey, Alec?” Kyran asked. Alec glanced at him from afar. “you didn’t tell me why you think we ended up in this hell hole.” He stood up, stretching his legs. “I told you, so tell me.”
“I don’t want too.”
Kyran paused. Thinking of his next choice of words, before giving up. He knew Alec was stubborn and he wasn’t going to give up easy. “is this the thing eating you up? It’s going to kill you if you don’t say it, y’know.”
“cut it out with that flower bullshit!” He shouted. “I don’t want to hear it!” then the red head stormed off into the rain.

Alec was once again hugging his knees. Though this time, he was crying. He was going insane at this. Kyran sat across from him, he had cried earlier. They tried their best to comfort eachother but they were too tired to do anything besides waiting for the reset.
Heh. Maybe this flower thing was slowly killing him, after all.
He wiped his eyes, before looking at kyran. If he doesn’t do anything, nothing would change and the loop would continue. But hopefully, this will stop it.
“I… played a part in Valerie’s death.” He revealed. Kyran’s eyes widened at that. He was about to say something in response but Alec stood up. “I don’t want to hear what you have to say right now.” Then he pushed open the door and walked out.
“Wait! Alec!” kyran called after him.
-----
“Tell me what you mean by that,” Kyran held Alec’s arm. Preventing him from restarting the loop. Alec avoided his stare.
“it means exactly what it means.”
“Why?” kyran asked. His voice barely a whisper. “Valerie was our friend!”
“I don’t care if she was friends with us, I was willing to do anything to ensure my family was safe!” Alec was pissed off. He hated talking about it but he knew he had to tell someone at some point. He struggled against Kyran’s grip but it was no use.
“tell me what happened. Tell me how you got involved and why you did it.” Kyran instructed. “It’s the least you can do after tricking everyone!’
After a few minutes, Alec sighed. Then he told kyran. He told him everything.
-
“Do you understand, now?” is all Alec asked. Tears were streaming down his face along with his voice shaking. He didn’t face him but he knew Kyran was staring at him. He was silent for a bit before he opened his mouth to speak;
“… yeah.”
“Good.” Alec struggled against Kyran’s grip. “now let me go.’
“…sorry.”
Kyran let go of his arms and they stood there in an uncomfortable silence. He gets why. he just found out his friend helped kill a good person. It wasn’t surprising to be shocked.
“I told you in hopes of stopping this thing but I’m not sure if it’s going to work.” Their time slowly drained out. “if I doesn’t work, I don’t know what to do.”
“If I doesn’t work I’ll tell you something in the next loop.” Kyran promised.
-
Expectedly, it doesn’t work.
But at least he’ll get to hear what kyran has to say.
“what I’m going to say is not as big as what you told me so it might be a little disappointing.” Kyran began, playing with the notes in his book. “but, same as you, it has been eating me up inside.”
Kyran waits for Alec to say something, but the redhead does nothing. Kyran sighs. Guess he can’t stall any longer.
“I stopped liking gold,” he revealed. “I see her as a friend now.”
Alec paused then raises his eyebrow. Wow. Kyran wasn’t kidding when he said that was disappointing. Alec shrugged. “Is… that all you wanted to say?”
Kyran chuckled and shook his head. “no, that’s not all.” He avoided his stare which irritated him. Alec rolled his eyes.
“then, spit it out! We don’t have all day!”
Kyran giggled. “we literally do, Alec.”
Alec rolled his eyes. He was right but it didn’t make him less irritated at Kyran’s stalling.
“after I stopped liking her, I realized I had a crush on someone else.”
“and that is?”
“you.”
Alec paused. His mind going blank at what to say. All he said in response was a small “oh.”
“You.. like me?” He crossed his arms. Still baffled at the realization. “And do you still like me after what I told you?”
Kyran nodded. “yes. I still like you.” He still avoided his stare, choosing to look at the ground instead. “After you told me why, I can understand why you did what you did. It still hurts but theses feelings are still there.”
Alec moved from the wall to sit beside kyran. “is this what has been slowly killing you?” he asked. He already knew the answer but he still felt like asking.
Kyran nodded. “You probably know why,” kyran brought his knees to his chest and hid his face. “You already like someone. You already have someone who’s dear to you.” His voice quivered. He sounded torn apart.
Alec watched his friend silently cry. His hands hovered over him, afraid to comfort him in fear of making him feel worse. He didn’t know how to comfort people. Especially his friend who was in love with him. He can’t help but feel responsible for getting his friends hurt. Whether it be them grieving someone he killed or rejecting them. He hates making them sad.
“im sorry,” Alec said. The boy beside him laughed. It was a strained one.
“for what?”
“I don’t know how to make you feel better.”
Kyran sat up, wiping his eyes. “just you listening makes me feel better, I just wanted to finally tell you.”
They both sat in comfortable silence until the clock slowly ran out. Both satisfied that they finally told someone what was bothering them, even if it was slightly against their will.
“Do you think, we’ll ever get out?” Kyran whispered.
“I don’t know. I hope we do “
Kyran hummed at his response. “I hate the rain.” He said.
“same here”

Before kyran turned to run, Alec had grabbed his wrist. “Don’t be an idiot kyran, you’ll be sick if you run out there!”
Kyran stayed silent, not knowing what to say.
“Here,” he said, taking off his sweater to give it to Kyran. “You can wear this out there “ he gave him the sweater despite kyran refusing it. He also took the book out of his hands which kyran didn’t noticed until later.
“what about you?” he asked. Alec shrugged.
“I have a book to cover me from the rain.”
Kyran shook his head in protest, “But-“
“Kyran.” Alec said. “Just take my jacket, and I’ll take your book. I promise I won’t ruin it too much.”
“Alec. You know it’s not that.”
“Then, trust me. Let’s leave here together and enjoy our weekend with our friends.”
Kyran frowned at him. He was about to say something but decided against it. Instead he just nodded. Alec smiled and he pushed open the door. Alec looked over at Kyran who was slightly doubtful.
“We can race if you want?” Alec suggested. Kyran smiled at the offer. Finally walking up to the door.
“if I win, you do my homework for the week.”
“c’mon. I’m not doing that!”
“then don’t lose!” kyran countered. Then the blue haired boy ran ahead of him into the harsh rain. Alec quickly following behind.
