I dig through my sheets, looking for my phone. The ringtone from my phone echoes throughout my room. I throw the comforter off my bed as the sound makes me more desperate to find my phone. I hear a loud thump, and I get down on my knees, shuffling for my phone. As soon as I think that I’ve gotten closer to finding the phone, the ringing stops. I put my weight down, groaning. which I immediately regret. My throat screams in pain as I try to soothe it with my hands. It's way too hot in here . I lay back on the side of the bed, remaining on the floor. My phone goes off again. I gather all my energy to search for the phone, trying to feel for the vibrations. I shuffle for a while until I finally feel it.
I sigh softly as I slide my finger on the phone screen, picking up the call. I cough a bit, clearing my throat as gently as I can. "Hello?" I say wearily, not knowing that I sound like my nose is pinched. "Are you okay?" I hear a desperate tone coming out. My head pounds as the words register. I put the phone on speaker and on the floor. "I'm fine, Gumi," I barely say."I'm on my way to your apartment right now," I notice myself becoming noticeably warmer. "N-no, you don't need to; you have stuff to do tomorrow, and I don’t want you to come all the way here," I whisper, trying not to strain my throat. "You can revolt all you want, but I’m still going" I close my eyes; I don’t want him to see me this weak and disgusting. "Gumi, I’m fine—" I clear my throat as quietly as I can, but it was apparently loud enough for him to hear. "You clearly aren't; I’m coming over," he says as he hangs up the phone.
Fuck. I internally groan, learning from my lesson last time. I rest my head on the bed again, trying to build the energy to get up again. My eyes close again; it feels nice. I let myself drift, not taking into account that Megumi was on his way, even though I told him not to. A few seconds later, I hear my phone go off again, and my eyes open in response. I try to open my eyes again but fail miserably. It doesn’t register in my head that the phone went off and that it was possibly Megumi. I hear a loud shuffling, and suddenly my door bursts open. I open my eyes to see Megumi’s legs in front of my face. I look up at him, and his breathing is uneven. I don’t have enough energy to say hi, so I just blink at him. He sits down next to me, and as he does, I lay my head on his shoulder. His cold hand goes on my forehead. I flinch a bit, trying to get used to the temperature change. "You’re really hot," he says.
I nodded in acknowledgment, still resting on his shoulder. "You should get in bed properly," he says concernedly. I nod, "Okay," I say wearily. I try to get up, but my body doesn’t move, my legs feel heavy, and my head feels like it's swaying. Instead of trying again, I press my head into Megumi’s shoulder. I groan softly, frustrated. I feel my weight lifted, and I start dozing again.
He places me on the bed, tucking me in. "Gumi," I said quietly. "Gumi cold," I complain as a sharp pain strikes my throat. "I’ll be right back," he says, making his way out of my room. I weakly stare at the hallway light, waiting for him to come back. He comes back with a big thermos and a cup. He sets them on the nightstand and sits down next to me. I feel an extreme weight shift as he tries to get comfortable in my bed. I hear him pouring water into the cup. "Here, drink this," he says. I slowly get up and drink the water timidly; the warmth floods my throat, relieving it. When I finish, I lay back down. I move closer to Megumi, wanting his warmth. His body moves slightly as he puts the glass back on the table. I whine softly, needing him. "Hold on—" he says as he lowers himself to the bed. He wraps one of his arms around me, pulling me closer to him. I lay close to his chest, pressing my face into it as he held me close to his chest. "Thank you for coming," I said softly, as everything around me turned into a blur and I faded into sleep.
