Work Text:

It is Valentine’s day, the 14th of February, and Seungmin has the day planned to a tee. The sun will not start rising for another few hours, and yet he’s checked the weather five times on three different apps already.

Sunny and only a 5% chance of rain. Perfect. The last preparations for the day are going swimmingly.

He needs this day to be the best one imaginable for them, but for Felix especially. He should feel nothing short of a prince on cloud nine.

The younger of the two has been unable to sleep for the past two hours, too on edge to keep his eyes shut for longer than a couple of minutes at every attempt to succumb to sweet slumber once more.

He’s filled to the brim with nerves.

Seungmin turns on his side to face his boyfriend and, hopefully soon, fiancé. His gaze wanders over all his features in adoration. The way a couple strands of his raven hair fall over his eyes softly. The most beautiful constellation of freckles stretching over his cheeks and button nose, rivaling the Milky way. Lips forming a pout in his sleep, making it hard to not sneak in a peck or two.

He starts dozing off a little while later, lulled to a soft sleep by focusing on Felix.

Seungmin is pulled out of it as fast as he fell into it however after he felt the older stir and mumble something incoherently.

He coos at the sight “Good morning, Beautiful.”

Felix sighs happily, a smile adorning his features “Mornin’.”

“I may or may not have a surprise planned for you today, baby” Seungmin smiles brightly at the way Felix lights up at his words.

“A surprise? For me? To what do I owe the honor?” he asks in disbelief.

“Can’t a man spoil his boyfriend the way he deserves?” the younger teases.

Felix hums sweetly and gives the other a peck “Hmm you sure can, I’m excited! Tell me, what are we doing?”

“Why don’t you get ready and you’ll see?”

The raven-haired groans as he sleepily stumbles out of bed and makes way for his wardrobe. He picks the first hoodie and sweatpants in his sight, always prioritising comfort.

Seungmin has already grabbed his neatly folded stack of clothes that he prepared the day before, so as to not have to worry about all the possible outfits, and is getting ready in the bathroom.

"We're going out for the day, so proper trousers or something, no sweatpants!" the younger yells from across the hallway.

"But comfortable," Felix pouts, as he reluctantly places a pair of jeans on top of the clothes pile in his arms, and drags himself towards the bathroom. "Sweatpants are way better than jeans, who wears jeans willingly, hmph"

While Felix is in the middle of brushing his teeth, hair sticking up in all directions, his boyfriend is fully dressed in the living room, looking up their favourite café once again just to double check that it’s open. Why would It not be though? It always is.

The older throws the silliest guesses at Seungmin through the open bathroom door which makes the younger chuckle at his antics.

He stills and his eyes widen a fraction. “Closed due to illness amongst staff” it reads on the café’s website. That wasn’t planned, this wasn’t supposed to happen. Breathe Seungmin, it’s gonna be fine.

“Babe, there is a slight change of plans…” he calls out a little nervously.

Felix shuffles out of the bathroom, half-dressed with his sweater halfway hanging off his frame, confusion written on his face.

“What do you mean, love?”

Seungmin sighs “We were supposed to have breakfast at our café in half an hour, but I checked and they had to close because of illness amongst staff...”

“Oh, I’m sorry that it didn’t work out, baby,” he pouts and pulls his sweater on fully. Felix waddles over to his boyfriend and squishes his cheeks before giving him a little peck. “I am more than happy to do whatever, you know?”

“I know. But on the bright side, that means we can stay in bed for a little while longer I guess," Seungmin says, a small smile forming as he sees Felix light up.

"Does that mean I can keep my sweatpants on for now?"

Seungmin doesn’t stay in bed for too long. He insists on making breakfast in bed for Felix to at least attempt to make up for the initial failed plan he had.

Read: Attempt.

His plan had been to make some nice french toast, a bowl of cereal, a sunny-side-up egg, and a glass of orange juice.

Since he hadn’t expected breakfast to be home-made today, it has been a while since they had done any grocery shopping. To his disappointment, their less than stocked fridge does not contain enough eggs for the french toast he was going to spoil Felix with.

The brunette groans and has to refrain from gripping his hair in frustration.

It will be fine, this is only one thing that hasn't worked out. There is so much more to come that will make up for this small bump in the road, he thinks.

“Well then, chocolate rice crispies it is…” he sighs, as he finds their cabinets just as lacking as the fridge, not a trace of Felix’s favourite cereal to be found.

Half an hour and a bunch of lost brain cells later, Seungmin has the tray set up as best as he could. He makes his way to their shared bedroom with a poor excuse of a not-so-sunny-side-up egg that broke while he transferred it to the plate, two pieces of toast, orange juice, and a bowl of cereal.

The look on his boyfriend’s face has made all of the effort worth it. Felix is beaming at him and the tray in his hands as if he brought him a five-course meal from the best chefs available. In reality it was just Seungmin, leaving the kitchen a mess and a problem for his future self to deal with, only to make his loved one happy.

Seungmin carefully places the tray over Felix’s legs and cuddles under the blankets next to him. Felix claps excitedly, gives the other a kiss as thanks, and dives right in.

-

A little over an hour later, with stomachs filled to the brim, Felix sighs contentedly.

“That was so yummy, thank you!” the older smiles in the younger’s direction and gives his cheek a soft stroke.

Seungmin grumbles “You don’t have to pretend, it was barely anything”

“But it was! And you put in effort just for me and that makes it even more special,” he retorts eagerly.

Seungmin blushes and clears his throat, “Anyway! Time to get dressed now. finally, we are still going out!”

The older whines some more about the inconvenience that is having to wear jeans instead of his comfy, fluffy sweatpants, but gets out of bed and dressed anyway.

In no time the two are out and about with their hands tightly intertwined, off to their next destination.

“Soo…where are we going?” comes the eager inquiry with slight a bounce to his step.

Seungmin throws him a shit-eating grin, braces on full display “That’s for me to know and for you to find out”

“Another surprise?! No fair!”

The bickering and back and forth continues for a little while until they reach the second stop on Seungmin’s list for a hopefully successful proposal.

They round a corner and are met with the view of a small but inviting building. Flowers of all kinds adorn the inside of the store windows. Colorful splashes of red in the form of flowers, balloons, and little signs fitting the valentines theme are thrown into the mix. Ivy tightly wraps around the arm and backrest of the small bench at the storefront.

“The flower shop!”

Seungmin squeezes his boyfriend’s hand at the sheer excitement he is radiating.

That’s just one of the things on the younger’s neverending list of things he loves about Felix, the way he sees something special in everything.

Nearing the emerald green door with a golden doorknob and a sign that reads “closed”, their attention jumps to the flower bouquet in a little bucket, sitting neatly on the steps leading up to said door.

Seungmin had called their mutual friend Hyunjin earlier in the day to prepare a gorgeous bouquet for him with the finest flowers he could get a hold of. The shop isn’t open past noon usually and since they ran later than they would’ve had they not had a breakfast delay, Seungmin asked him to set it outside once he closed for the day.

Attached to the bouquet is a little note, which the younger assumes must be from Hyunjin since it says “You owe me one. If they get stolen, that's your own fault.” He rolls his eyes at their friend's antics.

Seungmin grabs the flowers, proudly marches over to Felix, and presents them to him with outstretched arms.

“For you, since I know how much you love flowers, I wanted to get you the best bouquet out there!” Seungmin beams.

Felix shares the same reaction before his eyes widen a little apologetically and his smile fades.

“Babe…this is a lily bouquet”

Seungmin frowns in confusion “Yeah? What about it- oh…” he realizes only belatedly, that they will have Minho’s cats over in a couple of days to catsit and they love to chew on anything and everything. Lilies are incredibly toxic to cats.

He’s frustrated with himself. Why did he not think of it earlier? He could’ve told Hyunjin to not use any bulb plants in particular. All of this could’ve been avoided, another plan to make this the best day ever down the drain.

Being the epitome of the sun and always making the best out of any situation, Felix notices the solemn expression on his boyfriend’s face and jumps to action.

“We have flowers right here, it’s okay!”

He sets the bouquet back in the bucket tenderly after smelling them and smiling to himself. Felix then lightly jogs over to the grass patch next to the building.

The raven-haired plucks a small daisy, puts it behind Seungmin’s ear, and flashes his million-dollar smile.

“A flower for my flower!”

Seungmin can’t help but sigh fondly, frustration nearly instantly disappearing. What did he do to deserve him?

-

They arrive rather quickly at their next stop, Seungmin has a slightly tight schedule planned ahead. If he wants to check off all points on his mental list, he needs to hurry them both a little without making the older suspect anything.

That plan went down the drain as fast as it came.

Approaching the wide expanse of the nearby lake they can’t help but stare a little in awe at the sheer beauty of this place. The sun is high in the sky and a fresh breeze flows through the air. A couple of clouds have started gathering a bit further away.

Seugmin’s fondness flies out the window the second he takes a closer look at the row boat and pedal boat rental place right next to the lake. It is beautifully decorated like every other place in the city this time around with garlands and balloons and such. But what actually catches his eye is a certain elderly couple that is taking the last pedal boat. The very boat he needed for his perfect proposal plan.

He can't even go up to them and complain about them taking the boat, because the last time he checked, which was 10 minutes ago to be exact, there was no reservation option.

Hand in hand they make their way over to the rental place, Seungmin trudging the slightest bit in annoyance at yet another plan somehow having failed.

“What’s wrong?” Felix asks, a little giggle escaping his mouth at the younger’s antics.

Seungmin sighs and mumbles “We were supposed to get that pedal boat…”

“It’s okay, we don’t have to sail on the river! We can just sit down somewhere and enjoy the view,” the raven-haired smiles in his direction, “I’m really enjoying today!” He swings their hands back and forth giddily.

Seungmin, being stubborn at the prospect of having to change plans yet again, retorts “No, I can do this! Get in the row boat, I’ll figure it out!”

They don’t get far. Felix figured they’d be faster with a second pair of paddles, and they did manage to move away from the shore but eventually, they lost control.

“I don’t think we are doing this right,” Seungmin laughs in frustration.

“What? You don’t like going in circles?” Felix giggles.

At some point, they give up and decide to just enjoy the weather and their surroundings.

Felix stretches and tilts his head up towards the sky, letting the sun hit his face and basking in the warmth. He looks like a happy cat, just enjoying the sunrays of such a beautiful day.

As he turns his head towards the water, letting it flow through his fingers, he hears faint splashing in the distance. The older’s head snaps up in the direction of the sound and he gasps softly.

“Babe look!” he exclaims and splashes the water excitedly. A flock of swans appeared next to the shore and is swimming around contentedly. It seems to be a whole family, two grown ones and a bunch of little cygnets following them around.

“Aren’t they beautiful?” he beams as he turns in his boyfriend’s direction and looks back again to catch a glimpse of the animals.

Seungmin can’t help but stare at the other once more, completely disregarding his annoyance a couple of seconds prior. Happiness looks good on him and he wishes for it to be like this for an eternity. The way his eyes form these beautiful crescents when he finds something amusing, his mouth stretches into the widest smile, and his freckles seem to glimmer in the sun. To say he is head over heels is an understatement.

“Hey! You’re staring!” comes the deep voice of his lover accompanied by water being flicked in his direction.

He stills in confusion before he realizes what happened.

“Not my good suit” he whines upon seeing the water droplets soaking the checkered fabric.

“What? Are you gonna turn into a mermaid when you get wet? Is there something you need to tell me?” Felix grins mischievously.

Seungmin glares at him for a second “If I were a mermaid, you’d be the first victim I’d drag to the depths of the ocean, trust me”

He takes the paddles back into his hands and motions for Felix to do the same.

“We should try and head back, who knows how long this will take.” Seungmin rolls his shoulders and brushes his blonde bangs out of his eyes.

“Aye aye, Captain!"

It takes Seungmin cursing all that is holy and Felix nearly losing his paddles twice, to get back to the shore.

"That was fun!" the older exclaims.

"I have to admit it was way better than I anticipated…apart from the actual rowing part" he chuckles. He spent most of the time just admiring Felix like it was his only purpose in life, not like he’d ever say it out loud.

Seungmin surprisingly manages to keep his suit relatively dry whereas Felix’s sweater sleeves have some wet patches here and there from playing around in the water.

Gosh, he is so cute, Seungmin can’t help but think to himself and smile in secret.

"Where to now, love?" Felix looks at the other expectantly.

"Why'd you think there's more?" he tilts his head like a puppy and stares at him.

"You looked like you had the whole day planned out and I know you, you don’t do things half-assed so…" he trails off, kicking a lone stone in front of his feet.

Seungmin pretends to have no clue what Felix is on about but eventually his facade cracks and he shows off a bright grin, braces on full display.

“You’re not wrong, we still have a few things to get to before the day ends”

“I knew it!” Felix throws a fist in the air in victory.

Seungmin holds out his hand and once his boyfriend accepts the invitation they walk along the lake and enjoy the last bits of peace and quiet. The sound of the water flowing down a small waterfall on the opposite side of the lake can be heard as well as the calls of the swans swimming around before they leave the area.

-

“Oh my god, I haven't been here in ages” Felix squeals a little in excitement.

They’re at the older’s favourite park. Work has been more hectic than usual recently so they haven’t had the time to go out and enjoy a day in the park. Obviously, they can’t stay for too long today but Seungmin figured that he could incorporate some time here before their next stop just to make the other happy.

The gravel crunches as they walk along the path leading into the heart of the park. A bunch of trees surround the whole area and nearly make it seem like they entered a forest. The sun peeks through the clouds occasionally and showers them with a soft glow, letting rays peek through branches here and there and making everything seem magical.

He should plan a picnic sometime soon.

“They have new food stalls!” Felix gasps and drags Seungmin over to the place he pointed at.

“I haven’t had cotton candy in a hot minute” the younger realized once he stood in front of the stall Felix dragged him nearly halfway across the park for.

“Me too, me too! They even have fun shapes!” Felix admires the menu board.

“Pick whatever you want, baby. It’s on me”

Felix thanks Seungmin with a kiss on the cheek and runs over to the person making the cotton candy flower he picked.

Being able to see Felix happy and admire things with eyes full of so much love and adoration is exactly what makes everything Seungmin does worth it.

After Felix gets his flower cotton candy and Seungmin his heart-shaped one, they end up sitting on a bench nearby and just enjoy each other’s presence while happily munching away.

“Mhh I could do this every day” Felix sighs dreamily while he lets a piece of cotton candy melt on his tongue, effectively turning it a light shade of blue.

“Me too” Seungmin agrees while fighting the cotton candy so as to not rip a huge chunk out but also to not get it all over himself.

Once they finish eating Felix spots a milkshake stand and nearly sprints towards it if it weren’t for the other holding him back with a chuckle and a fond look in his eyes.

They end up having a few more snacks here and there before Seungmin checks the time and realizes that it is time to let their walk through the park slowly come to an end.

Conveniently enough, the path through the park leads toward the next destination on his list.

Nearing the exit, they are greeted by a big sign reading “Tree maintenance ahead. Do not cross.”

“What the fuck is tree maintenance” Seungmin exclaims in exasperation. He doesn’t usually curse a lot but this day is testing him clearly.

Felix can only shrug, “Self-care for trees?”

Unless they want to climb over the way too tall fence surrounding the park, they have to turn around and walk all the way back to where they came from.

Seungmin grumbles under his breath in annoyance “Fucking tree maintenance, they’re trees, let mother nature do her thing”

Unfortunately for Seungmin, the detour they’re about to take might potentially make them late for their second-to-last date location. This also means that now they really have to speed walk so as to not miss their booked time slot.

-

Seungmin is sweating profusely by the time they arrive.

Turns out that running across a huge park and about three blocks, is like participating in a marathon for someone who doesn’t usually work out that much.

Unlike Felix who goes to the gym every other day and keeps his body in shape, Seungmin spends most of his days in the office doing paperwork, and his freetime mostly at home.

In situations such as this, it becomes clear that Felix's stamina is in a different league, as he beams up at Seungmin without having broken out a sweat in the slightest.

“Woah…” Felix looks up at the building in front of him in awe. “I've never been here but I’ve been eyeing it for a while! I’m so excited!”

Seungmin chose a jewelry-making shop as the main event for this day. It seemed like a fun idea; creating their own perfect rings for each other and spending the afternoon crafting and enjoying each other’s presence.

Unbeknownst to Felix though, the ring Seungmin will be making, is the exact one he’ll be proposing to him with a couple of hours in the future.

The shop is both inside and out exactly Felix’s vibe. It’s small, antique, and has flowers displayed all over. It’s run by a rather old man who beams at them once they let themselves in.

He seems very excited and shuffles over to the pair to bring them to their table and explain how everything works.

They spend the first hour trying to make the band, which seems harder than one might think. It requires a lot of concentration and fiddling but Seungmin gets the hang of it quite quickly. Even though Seungmin is making the ring for the other, and knowing his style and love for intricate designs, he finishes first. Felix on the other hand is fully immersed and trying his hardest, even with the knowledge that Seungmin prefers a more simple look.

Since they agreed to continue together once they finish the bands, Seungmin has some spare time.

His gaze lifts from the half-finished ring over to Felix. The way the tip of his tongue sticks out in concentration the slightest bit. The older’s hair keeps falling in his eyes and he keeps blowing it out of his face, cursing under his breath that he should’ve brought a hair tie now that his hair has grown out.

He is so precious, Seungmin can barely hold himself back from walking around the table, squishing his cheeks, and showering him with every possible compliment and word of adoration known to man.

Felix finishes about half an hour after Seungmin did and wipes his forehead from the stray bead of sweat that was making its way down.

“You’re telling me that made you sweat, but not the half-mile we ran to get here?” Seungmin exclaims in disbelief.

"Working under full concentration for one and a half hours straight is nothing compared to a short jog around the city" he pouts and crosses his arms over his chest.

Seungmin stares at him for a second before he continues, “That was 30 minutes of pure agony out there, what do you mean!"

"You should never skip leg day, babe, gym rule number one. Clearly doesn't do me much good here though, this is taking me ages…”

Seungmin senses the older’s slight distress and softens his gaze “We haven’t been here for long, we’ve still got plenty of time, Baby.” He reaches over the table to caress his boyfriend’s hand. “Don’t stress too much”

Felix’s pout deepens “But I want it to be perfect because it’s for you”

“It’ll be perfect to me no matter what you end up creating because it’s you who made it.” Seungmin answers in a hushed tone and smiles.

Felix’s eyes turn glassy for s split second “I love you so much”

“I love you too, baby” Seungmin squeezes his hand and gets up to give him a proper hug. Hugs make everything better.

They spend a couple minutes just hugging and giggling in hushed whispers before they part and get ready to tame the beast that is trying to add gems to the rings.

Felix decides to consult the kind shop owner "I feel like I've been thrown in the deep end a little bit over here, I have no experience with jewelry making at all! Do you have some advice on what gems to use maybe?"

It is true that they have plenty of time ahead, but Seungmin does not take into account just how into the conversation Felix gets. Him and the shop owner end up going over every kind of gem available, what will contrast best with the silver band he made, what colors will look best on Seungmin, and so on.

Eventually, Felix gets to work, and after the occasional curse and more faces of concentration, he finishes the ring.

He holds it up like a trophy and cheers, “It has been done!”

“The blood, sweat, and tears seem absolutely worth it. It’s gorgeous,” Seungmin can’t help but express.

“You are one to talk! Have you seen yours?!”

“I’ve been looking at it for the past three hours, I’m pretty sure I have,” the brunette can’t help but tease.

“I know that, smart-ass!” Felix pretends to swat at him but nearly drops the ring in the process. He barely manages to catch it which just makes Seungmin cackle.

“In all seriousness though, yours turned out so beautiful. I can’t believe it’s going to be mine,” Felix says truthfully and softly.

“It will be…” Seungmin can’t help but get lost in thought a little at the prospect of proposing in the next hour and putting this exact same ring on Felix’s finger. He feels a little queasy as his nerves resurface.

He can’t concentrate on it for too long before he has a lapful of Felix.

“I loved everything about today! Thank you so much for taking me out, love,” the older kisses him to convey just how much he enjoyed and appreciated this day.

“You are very welcome, beautiful.” He kisses him between words and smiles, “That wasn’t all of it though” he adds right after.

Felix pulls back in confusion and stares at the other with wide eyes, “What do you mean?”

“There’s one more thing I got on the list, it’s very important,” he whispers so only the two of them can hear it.

As if on cue, the sun hides behind the clouds that have been tormenting it the whole day, and said clouds open the floodgates.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

-

The fresh air caused by the rain is prominent.

The couple is standing in the doorway of the jewelry shop, one with concern on his face, the other with a wondrous twinkle in his eyes.

A light shuffling coming from behind causes the both of them to turn around.

“I am so sorry, but I can’t leave the shop open for much longer I fear…” the elderly man informs.

It is already past 6 pm and they only finished about 15 minutes ago. Seungmin certainly didn’t think it would take them this long but they were having a good time. Felix, despite trial and error, had also enjoyed it greatly.

Would they have finished and left sooner, however, they wouldn’t be caught up in the rain right now.

“What do we do?” Felix glances at Seungmin as the younger whips out his phone and starts searching for something.

The younger hums and furrows his eyebrows in concentration. “Hmm…I’d say let’s go to the closest café to hopefully wait out the rain,” he scrolls frantically. They can’t keep the shop owner here just because they don’t have a plan yet.

“By the looks of it, there should be one about 15 minutes from here…”

Given that they are currently a little outside of town centre, and the shop does not provide a pavilion of some sort to find shelter under, they’ll have no choice but to run.

Seungmin reaches for Felix’s hand, “I hope you’re not tired of sprinting around town.” The younger silently mourns his freshly ironed suit once more before locking eyes with his boyfriend.

“With you, never.” Felix responds with a glint in his eyes.

The younger gives their intertwined hands a tight squeeze before he counts down.

“3…2…1!”

The pair starts sprinting. Seungmin is leading the both of them while Felix enjoys being dragged around.

Gosh, maybe this is a sign Seungmin thinks to himself.

Maybe today is not the day, I should’ve triple-checked the weather app on our way here.

The rain does not seem to get lighter. In fact, it feels like it’s becoming heavier. Streets are vacant of any lost souls like the pair that is currently running for their lives.

I spent so much time trying to make this the perfect day for Felix and now I’m dragging him through the rain for fucks sake. What if he gets sick?

It seems like they’ve been running for eternity but their surroundings stay the same. Are they even moving? Since when was the shop this far out?

Everything that could’ve possibly gone wrong decided that today is the day to fuck me over. What if Felix is disappointed now?

While Seungmin is gone in a spiral deep inside his mind, he misses what is going on behind him.

Felix is running as if he has no care in the world. He stretches out the one of his arms that is not occupied and enjoys the cool water hitting his skin, effectively soaking him from head to toe.

His giggles and screams of joy were constant. Any time he saw a puddle coming his way he made sure to jump in it and create a mess of dirt on his pants that the rain washed away quickly.

It is the most fun he’s had in a while, he feels so free.

Felix is practically beaming when he looks in Seungmin’s direction. He fully expects him to be grumbling about being soaked but what he sees makes him frown.

Seungmin is staring at the ground while stumbling his way through the rain, hair in his eyes. He looks like he’s absent.

“Woah, woah, woah, slow down, love,” Felix tries to make his boyfriend stop.

Once he notices that Seungmin’s not slowing down and instead steering head first towards a wall, Felix speeds up his own pace and grabs him around the waist. They stop abruptly and stumble a little at the sudden halt.

The older takes his boyfriend’s face in his hands out of worry, “Baby, are you okay?”

Seungmin can’t help but stare at Felix. At first there is surprise, but also frustration painting Seungmin’s face. His furrowed eyebrows not letting up.

But the longer he looks at him, the more his expression relaxes and transforms into one full of love and adoration. Eyes on the brink of turning glassy.

He realizes at that moment, that nothing matters as long as he has Felix by his side and he wants it to stay that way for eternity. It doesn’t even matter that his suit got wet and is clinging to his entire body. All he needs is the person he loves the most right in front of him.

Fuck it. I’m gonna do it.

Seungmin takes a deep breath and clears his throat, “I have a confession to make.”

Felix shows a few hints of confusion before he strokes Seungmin’s cheeks for comfort and to show that he’s giving him all of his attention.

“Today was supposed to be special. I planned it all out weeks prior with the goal to make this the best day imaginable for you,” he says.

“But everything kept going wrong and I was hoping that it would be salvageable, but then our café was closed, and the trees needed a branch manicure, and that elderly couple took the stupid last pedal boat and it was all meant to be amazing because you are amazing.”

Felix stops his rambling with a soft peck to his lips.

Seungmin can feel his pulse beating in his ears, as he looks deeply into his eyes and removes Felix’s hands gently from his face. He takes out the ring he made for him earlier, secure in a white little box, and throws him a hopeful glance.
He moves to go on one knee and opens up the box.

Felix can’t help but stare in disbelief at the scene in front of him.

"Oh” is all he manages to get out. All the air suddenly knocked out of him.

The younger continues with a slight shake in his voice, “I forgot the whole speech I’ve memorized but…you make me the happiest I’ve ever been. I can’t imagine my life without waking up next to you, without having our silly movie nights where we dress up like one of the characters in the movies, without having your comfort when I have a bad day and feel helpless…without loving you wholeheartedly and showering you in the affection you deserve,” he confesses.

Felix has his hands covering his lower face, stray tears cascading down his cheeks and merging with the rain. The older’s posture is shivering gently because of the held-back sobs trying to escape.

“I had so much more I wanted to say but it doesn’t matter when there’s really only one thing I want to ask…”

Seungmin gulps, nerves suddenly spiking.

“Will you marry me, sunshine?”

In the blink of an eye, Felix is throwing himself at Seungmin, nearly sending the ring in the younger’s hands flying.

“Yes of course I will, silly!” he cries into his neck and hugs him as tightly as possible.

Seungmin tucks the ring away safely and returns the embrace just as tightly.

They take a couple of minutes to let everything that just happened sink in before they part, both with red eyes and sniffing.

“There was not one second today where I felt that it wasn’t one of the most amazing days” Felix reassures the younger. “I can’t tell you how happy it made me to walk around and spend time with you, and even though it might’ve not gone as you planned, it was still perfect to me. You are perfect to me.”

“C’mere” Seungmin says before he takes out the ring and puts it on Felix’s delicate finger.

They seal the promise of a future together with a kiss. Seungmin leans back and takes in the natural beauty of his boyfriend, with raindrop-like tears in his eyes and stars on his cheeks.

“I love you”

“I love you, too”

As they walk back home, hand in hand with the self-made rings on their fingers, Felix can’t help but exclaim, “So that’s why you insisted on jogging across town to get to the jewelry-making shop.”

“Mhm, sure did. I hope you appreciate me nearly drowning in sweat two minutes in, because you know I hate running,” he retorts, amused.

“You should work out with me some time, if you won’t be too distracted that is,” Felix smirks mischievously.

“I know I just confessed my undying love for you, but even I have a limit, and that limit is the gym"
