Work Text:

A light thump ricochet against the hollow walls of the spotless kitchen as Pigsy dropped a wooden crate on the countertop by the sink. He’d just finished scrubbing and sweeping the place clean after his awkward encounter with MK and Red Son, an encounter that he’d attempted to scrub clean from his mind as well as he managed to scrub the dirty stove.

Speaking of the stove, he oughta give MK another round of hard lecturing for not only leaving it turned on, but also leaving the pot of noodles bubbling on top. Still cooking.

Meaning he had to put the extra effort in disposing of the unappealing burnt pot of noodles. All those fresh ingredients wasted! He should probably cut some of the kid’s paycheck for the devastating burden of food put to waste. He’d rather die than waste much more than a miniscule grain of rice.

The pig demon let out a gruff sigh as he unloaded the crate’s contents, more fresh ingredients for tomorrow’s busy day. He’d even begun to whistle a familiar tune when he heard footsteps behind him.

“Need any help, Pigsy?”

Pigsy’s ear twitched at the sound of his name, turning around to greet Tang at the doorway. He raised a quizzical eyebrow, half believing he was some hallucination as a result of his crippling tiredness.

“You? Offering to help? Alright, what do you want,” Pigsy chuckled as Tang’s face deteriorated into a look of offence that he could assume such a heinous thing! ..Okay maybe he was a little hungry, but he did want to help! Perhaps in exchange for a nice bowl of noodles..

Tang spluttered, struggling to form an appropriate response to the sudden accusation when Pigsy shook his head fondly and pointed to the island bench with a wooden spoon.

“You can start clearing the counter if you want,” the pig demon offered.

A flustered Tang eventually gathered himself, picking up whatever dignity he had left from the dusty floor and shuffling over to his assigned spot with an embarrassed huff.

He looked up, eyes widening as he spotted a steaming bowl sitting at the edge. A bowl of noodles. And they looked delicious, and still hot!

Tang drooled, slowly swiped a pair of chopsticks, looking over his shoulder to see Pigsy’s back turned as he whistled and cooked. Perfect.

He quickly turned his focus back to the bowl of heaven before his eyes and dug in, taking one big bite. His pupils dilated, beads of sweat immediately forming and rolling down his reddening face. His cheeks puffed out as steam erupted from his ears followed by a convenient kettle whistle noise that somehow lined up to the exact moment his body reacted to the free food. Tang started to choke, coughing and sputtering as he tried to regurgitate whatever he’d just eaten.

“Tang–? Wha– Don’t eat that–!” Pigsy yelled from behind him, “Wait, you already ate it didn’t you.” he face-palmed.

He faced Pigsy, looking as if he was about to evaporate into a steam cloud, fanning at his open mouth, “What– Ugh–” he gagged, “Is in those noodles?”

Pigsy held back a malicious grin, turning his head to hide his giggling face and scratching the back of his neck.

“Yeah, well, MK and the little fire demon were in here earlier. Somethin’ about an ‘Inferno’” he explained.

Tang seemed to connect the dots though, as he finally rushed to the sink and sprayed water in his mouth. Pigsy’s jaw dropped as puddles formed on the kitchen floor, no doubt creating a major slip hazard.

“HEY! You better clean this mess you little..!”

Shouting ensued for the rest of the evening, and Tang did himself a favour and promised himself he’d ask about a meal’s ingredients before taking a satisfied bite.
