Chapter 1: The Paths to Tread

Chapter Text

A small squadron of three McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagles shot across the ocean, in perfect formation.

They are the Seekers. They champion the heavens.

Though their patrol work is commonplace, they complete it diligently, thoroughly, and effectively.

"One more lap around! Make sure nothing escapes your scanners." Starscream commanded.

"Yes sir!" Skywarp and Thundercracker both responded, and the trio shot across the sky, effortlessly completing their final lap of the patrol. When they returned to the Decepticon warship, they transformed and landed.

Thundercracker stretched. "Feels good to spread my wings every so often!"

"Yes, it is to our fortune that our patrols are necessary." Starscream said. "For the Seekers do not remain grounded forever."

Soundwave and Shockwave then approached from within the base.

"Starscream." Soundwave said with monotony. "We have a new recruit."

The air commander raised an eyebrow. "I am never told when there is a new recruit unless it directly affects me in some way. So why are you telling me this?"

"Because she wishes to join the Seekers." Shockwave responded. "Her interest was quite significant."

They stepped aside, and a new Decepticon that Starscream had never seen before approached.

"I am Moondancer." she said, bowing. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"I am sure you know, by now." Starscream said. "But I am Starscream. Second hand to Lord Megatron, and your new commander. The others you will fight alongside are Skywarp and Thundercracker."

"I hope you're not too discomforted when we take to the skies." Skywarp said. "Some of the other Decepticons consider us an odd bunch."

"Mainly because we don't entirely conform to the more rigid squad types used by the others. We all trained together, under our old commander." Thundercracker added. "So adding someone new, it feels a little bit odd."

"In any case, though it is certainly a surprise to see a new recruit among the Seekers, it is not an unwelcome surprise." Starscream said. "I look forward to working with you."

"Welcome aboard, Moondancer!" Skywarp said.

"At attention, Seeker!" Starscream snapped.

"Regardless of how well you socialize within the warship, Megatron expects you to cooperate with your new wingmate and provide praiseworthy results." Soundwave said. With that, he and Shockwave walked away.

Starscream remained silent, until Moondancer spoke.

"Shall we begin the integration, Commander?" she asked.

He nodded. "Yes. We shall."

An indigo Volkswagen Beetle came to a stop in front of a cliff side. Its driver, Tyson Sharp, shut the vehicle off before pulling out his phone, double-checking his Google Maps app.

"This was where she was last seen... But why here?" he asked, putting his phone into his back pocket. Before he could get out of his car, the ground started to shake a little bit. Panicking, he started the car and prepared to drive away, before a hidden door in the cliff side suddenly opened. He heard machinery screeching in short intervals, and a camouflage-colored SWAT van drove out of the entrance before coming to an abrupt stop, once the driver saw Tyson in his car.

After several moments, he heard, "Uh, there's a human out here."

"Did they see you leave the base?" another voice called out.

"Yep, it did. It's right in front of me."

The second voice sighed. "Bring it in."

The SWAT van turned around and started to drive back into the tunnel, before stopping and honking its horn. Getting the hint, Tyson started up his car and followed the SWAT van in.

"What's going on...?" he said to himself as they went through. After a few moments, they arrived in some sort of base of operations. Through the windshield, he saw gargantuan robots that were at least thirty feet tall, each. Most weird of all, they all had car parts attached to them.

When they came to a stop, the SWAT van suddenly started shapeshifting, until it was revealed that it too was one of those robots.

Tyson shut off his car and slowly got out of it. "What are you...?"

"We are autonomous robot organisms from the planet Cybertron." the largest one said. He was coated in blue and red paint.

"Okay, so you're not only robots, you're also aliens." Tyson said in disbelief.

"Cybertronians." the white and red one corrected. "And why were you even outside our base to begin with?"

"Oh, I was just looking for my sister." Tyson said. "I haven't seen her in some time."

"Come to think of it, there WAS a human that had come by a while ago." the shorter yellow Cybertronian said. "She looked kind of like this one, but her hair was longer."

"She was here?!" Tyson asked. "Jennifer was with you guys?!"

"That was her name, if my memory banks serve accurately." the white and red Cybertronian said.

"Pardon our informality." the blue and red Cybertronian said. "We never gave your our names, nor did we ask for yours."

Tyson realized their blunder. "Oh, I'm Tyson. Who are you guys?"

"I am Optimus Prime." the blue and red Cybertronian said. "They are Bumblebee, Ratchet, Bulkhead, Sunstreaker, and Ironhide. Others that are not present at this moment are Arcee, Heatwave, and Ultra Magnus."

"And you say my sister Jennifer came to you?" Tyson asked.

"She did." the matte black Cybertronian, Ironhide, said. "Something about wanting help, but she didn't think we did enough, so she left."

"Where is she now?" Tyson asked.

"We're not sure, but we can try and track her down if you so desire." Optimus Prime said.

Tyson nodded. "Please do. I really miss her."

Ratchet nodded and began booting up what appeared to be some sort of scanner, and after a lot of tense searching, a signal came up.

"Is that her?" Tyson asked.

"It's in the general direction in which we saw her leave." Ratchet said.

Tyson pulled his phone out. "Let me try calling her. Surely you'll be able to catch the signal trying to reach her."

He did that, and sure enough, the scanner picked it up.

"We have our target." Optimus Prime said. "Bumblebee. Tyson. You two will come with me to retrieve Jennifer. Hopefully, she is safe."

"Sounds like a plan." Tyson said, getting into his car.

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee transformed. "Ratchet, open a Ground Bridge to that location."

Ratchet obliged, and the three of them went through the Ground Bridge's portal to begin their search.

I sincerely apologize if this chapter lacks the quality that my other stories usually have! The draft was going to be deleted on March 27th, so as I type this (March 26th), I was really running out of time before the draft would be deleted.
