Chapter Text
Before this happened, Izuku was having a good day.
he had done well on the quiz he had in English, gotten some upgrades for his hero costume, and he and Bakugo spent the afternoon teaching Ochako and Tsuyu how to play hearts. Izuku got his butt kicked, but they still had a great time.
There weren't any signs that anything was amiss, so he was very confused when Aizawa pulled him aside after class. normally, Aizawa had additional work to do, so Izuku would walk home with Hitoshi and then Aizawa and Hizashi would come home later.
"Is something going on?" Izuku felt a pit in his stomach. He didn't know if he was in trouble, or if something else was the matter, so he fidgeted and tried not to show his fear.
"Izuku, earlier today... Hizashi's sister passed away." Izuku heard that, and he felt like his heart had dropped to the floor. he hadn't known his aunt very well, but he knew that Hizashi was very close with his sister.
"I... Does Hitoshi know?"
"Yes, he knows. Hizashi's a complete mess, so I wanted to tell you before you got home. Hitoshi will walk home with you like usual, but I'll be home in not too long."
"Ok... Bye, I'll see you later." Izuku headed outside, in shock over what he had just heard. he headed outside, where Hitoshi was waiting for him like usual. He saw Izuku, and said
"Did Shouta tell you?" Izuku nodded before pulling Hitoshi into a tight hug. "We should get going. Hizashi's probably waiting. I don't really want to leave him alone right now." Izuku nodded, and they headed home. neither of them said a word to each other the entire time, but they were both happy to have company, even if they didn't talk. they arrived home to find Hizashi, sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. he looked up and saw the two of them, so he shakily said
"D-did Shouta tell you?" Izuku nodded, feeling big, watery tears well up in his own eyes. he hugged Hizashi, and Hitoshi soon followed as they both cried for what felt like hours.
A few hours later, Aizawa had come home, and everyone had mostly calmed down. Hitoshi and Izuku had both finished their homework, and they were both reading the book they were reading for English class when Aizawa came to talk to them again.
"How are you two doing?" He asked.
"Were doing ok, did you need something?" Hitoshi replied. Aizawa took a deep breath before saying.
"As you know, your aunt had a son." Izuku had met his cousin, Denki a few times, but they hadn't seen each other in a while because they lived a distance from each other. "Because both of his parents have... passed" Aizawa choked up before continuing "he will be coming to live with us from now on."
"When will he be coming?" Izuku asked.
"He'll be coming in a day or two. Me and Hizashi can work on getting his room sorted and all that. He will also be starting at your school in a few weeks. We want to give him some time to... mourn his mother, but you two are free to go to school tomorrow if you would like."
"I think I will go to school tomorrow. I don't want to get behind" Izuku said, and Hitoshi followed with
"Same here, I don't want Izuku to be alone."
"Thats fine by me." Aizawa said with a sad smile. "I will leave you two alone for right now, just call me if you need anything." Aizawa left the room, leaving Hitoshi and Izuku alone.
The rest of the evening was weirdly quiet. It was unnerving, considering that Hizashi was almost completely silent for the first time in years. All Izuku could think about was the fact that Denki was going to be living with him. Denki would probably be completely devastated over this, and Izuku wasn't sure how he was going to deal with that.
All Izuku wanted was for everything to go back to normal. He just wanted everything to be exactly the way it was that morning, before this whole mess began.
