Summary
“You don’t remember, do you?” And there was that laid bare feeling again, like Andrew, with his careful steady hands, was peeling back every layer of lies Neil was built on. “I haven’t seen you scared of Kevin since Millport.”
Millport. Sounded like the name of a town him and his mother would melt into, hiding themselves among small town niceties and miles of empty stretches of road. As far as he could remember, he’d never been to a Millport. How much time was he missing?
---
Or, Neil takes a hit to the head and wakes up missing two years. He doesn’t know where he is, or who he’s supposed to be to the worried strangers filling his hospital room.

Summary
"You didn't run," Neil murmured, almost to himself.
Katelyn looked at him. Her eyes were wet, fear finally leaking through the cracks in her composure. "You stepped in front of a knife."
"I had to."
"You didn't have to," she said. Her voice broke. "You really didn't."
"He was aiming for you."
"I know." She wiped her face with her free hand, smearing a streak of blood across her cheek. "I know, Neil."
Neil Josten has always treated Katelyn like background noise. She's a liability attached to Aaron Minyard that needs to be managed. But when a ghost from Baltimore interrupts his morning run, Neil realizes that his calculations were wrong.
Or: The one where Neil gets stabbed (again), Katelyn proves she’s more than just a cheerleader, and the Foxhole gets slightly bigger.

Summary
Neil was stretching too thin. He was focussing on Kevin’s French instructions, the Bearcats defence, where the ball was and keeping half an eye on the cousins and their German bickering whenever he could. So when one of the Bearcats defenders slammed him back into the court wall, her hand gripping his shoulders, pinning him in place, his heart lurched.

Summary
Neil has known there was something wrong with him his whole life, nearly everyone he met made a point in reminding him.
He’s 21 and decides ‘fuck it’ he starts giving pieces of himself to the foxes only to be met with scorn.
Does he know them at all? Do they know him?
If he were to really be himself would they love him at all?“He wasn’t different because his father was a serial killer, or because his mother had him on the run for ten years. He wasn’t different for having twenty-plus identities and mountains of childhood trauma. You see what made Neil different was that there was something fundamentally wrong with his existence.”
