Summary
This is the story of Neil and Andrew post “The King’s Men” and spans 12 years. It’s about their sexual journey – every baby steps, missteps, and gigantic leaps. It is also (and perhaps more importantly) the journey of how they stay committed throughout it all, made visible in the little things, and bigger, grander gestures. Most of this is a mix of canonical facts and my own take on their future.
A few of the scenes include: the night following the championship game, Andrew allowing Neil to get him off, Neil getting fucked for the first time, the handcuffs scene, Andrew moving to a new city while Neil has to stay at Palmetto for his last year, Andrew bottoming, Nicky’s wedding, and Andrew and Neil’s public coming out far, far in the future, followed by a crazy Fox reunion.

“If you don’t start talking in the next five seconds, I’m going to hang up,” Andrew said, ignoring the disapproving look Renee was no doubt shooting him from her desk.
“Sorry, yeah– sorry, I just haven’t done this in a while.”
“Had a phone call?” Andrew asked, raising an eyebrow, even though the person on the other end– a man, from the timber of his voice– couldn’t see him.
The man on the other end laughed lightly, and the sound did something funny to Andrew’s stomach. He mentally kicked himself, glaring daggers into his computer. Now was definitely not the time to have big gay feelings for some guy, especially if that guy had information about a missing persons case.
“You’re investigating Nina Davis, yeah?” The man asked, and Andrew kind of wanted to strangle the guy just a little.
“I said that already, or are you deaf?”
“Maybe in one ear. But uh– I have information. On Nina.”
OR: Andrew is a detective who sort of hates his job, Renee is a saint of a work partner, Neil can't keep himself out of trouble for five seconds, there's definitely a city-wide conspiracy that no one is telling Andrew anything about, and Baltimore might burn down before he can get to the bottom of it.

Robin turned her head to check and sure enough, the biker she’d just passed was lying in the middle of the road, his bike on its side a few feet away. She was slamming on the brake and throwing her car into park before she really registered what she was doing and it was only as she ran across the road toward him that she realised with a sick jolt to her stomach, the man wasn’t moving at all.

Robin let out a slow breath beside them.
“Alright,” she said at last, looking from Neil to Andrew and then briefly in the direction Riko had gone. Neither of them answered. She tilted her head slightly, studying the two of them with open irritation.
“Fantastic,” she said dryly, gesturing vaguely between them. “Twenty grand on the line, cars apparently changing owners, and somehow all of you forgot that there are four drivers in this race.”
The comment broke the tension just enough that a few people nearby laughed. Robin only rolled her eyes when neither of them moved.
“Are you two done,” she said dryly, “or do I need to wait for the dick measuring contest to finish before we start the race?”
That seemed to snap the moment apart. Neil could feel himself starting to grin, his blood pumping in his veins from the adrenaline. On impulse, he kissed the air toward Andrew, and slowly took a step back toward the Lexus without breaking eye contact.
