Chapter Text
Keigo was eating at a local cafe. He was lucky enough to even be eating at one. Money has been tight lately. With the bills and food expenses, it’s been tough. Him getting his ass handed to him last night isn’t making it any better either. Who knew being a vigilante for money was such hard work? It’s not like he wanted to be a vigilante. He wants to be a hero, just like the man who saved his life, Endeavor. But working a minimum wage job isn’t bringing home the money, especially being underage. Keigo sighs. His thoughts are all bungled up. From the bills to the bruises all over his arm, he was having a shitty day. Until a family comes into the cafe. All holding hands at that. Huh, cute. Keigo thought to himself.
“Aniii.. I'm hungry! Can I get a croissant?” The younger boy asked. The older one sort of frowned and shook his head.
“Shouto I told you, we don’t have enough money for us to get individual meals. We need to get one thing and eat off of that.”
The younger one (Keigo assumes name is Shouto?) starts to tear up.
“It's not fair! Mama used to always make me pancakes, but now she's gone and we keep getting one thing and these cafes..” Shouto whines, as he starts to full on wail. His sister? Keigo assumes, starts to try to calm him down, but it doesn’t work. Keigo can’t help but feel bad. He knows how it feels to be a kid in a bad situation. He opens his wallet and sees 2000 yen. That's all he has left. Keigo frowns and looks at the family again. Shouto is crying, the sister looks stressed and there's another boy who looks like he’s going to to cry too. Keigo stands up and takes the 2000 yen out. They need this more than I do, he thought. He goes over to the boy who appears to be the oldest and offers the money.
“Hey, I see you guys are in a bit of trouble right? Here,” Keigo hands over the 2000 yen. “It's only 2000, but it should cover all of you.” The eldest and Keigo met eyes, which led Keigo to be a bit flustered. His eyes were a pretty blue, but something about his eyes felt mysterious as well.
“Nah, you don’t have to do this. We’ll get by some other way,” He says as he avoids eye contact. He gives Keigo back the money and starts to walk away. His sister looks at him furiously and tugs on the back of his jacket to make him stop walking.
“Touya, are you serious?? We need this money! Excuse me, but we will gladly take the money." The sister takes to money back and smiles sheepishly. "Thank you so much!” The girl bows and makes her other siblings too. Touya looks at her with an annoyed expression, but bows too.
“Anytime,” Keigo says with a smile. As he walks towards the exit, he stops to talk to Shouto.
“Get your croissant little man,” he says with a smile. Shouto smiled brightly and thanked him. Keigo waved goodbye and left the cafe. Once he leaves, he realizes he has no money for dinner now.
“Shit.”
__________
Keigo has another late night vigilante job he has to do. Apparently there's been some talk about someone named the “White haired devil?” He ransacks peoples houses for money. Sometimes he threatens the house owners with fire? Whoever catches him, gets about 100,000 yen! This could cover this month's rent! Keigo puts his outfit on, which is an all black suit with a mask. He spreads his wings and begins to fly around the neighborhood.
As he's flying, he soon sees the white haired individual trying to break into a house. Bingo. Keigo swoops down and apprehends them. The person though, uses their quirk and almost burns Keigo's mask. The hell? Their quirk is like a blue flame, it’s honestly a bit pretty. But no time to think about that. Keigo uses his wings to pin down the guy, until he kicks Keigo right in the stomach and tries to run away. Keigo struggles to get up, so he uses his wings instead. He hasn’t really used this move much, but he gets two of his feathers and makes them into feather blades. Once he does that, he flies in front of the guy and puts the blade to his neck. Keigo was going to intimidate him further until he saw a familiar face.
“Anii?” Keigo asks, mimicking the Shouto boy from earlier. It's the guy he gave his 2000 yen to.
“What? What are you talking about? Let me go!” He tries to move, but the blades are sharp enough to cut through skin, it’d be stupid of him to try and move.
Keigo takes off his mask and backs up a little.
“It's me! Well you don’t know who I am. I’m Takami.” The white haired boy was shocked and started to run away.
“Hey! Where are you going?” Keigo yelled as he followed him. The other boy didn’t say a word though. Too bad for him because Keigo was faster. He caught up to him and grabbed his wrist.
“Calm down, I only want to help!”
“I don’t need your help!” He yells, as he yanks his hand out of Keigos grasp.
“Look, I’m not gonna report you or anything. I’m doin’ illegal things myself, so it’d be pretty stupid of me to go to the police.” The boy finally looks at Keigo and crosses his arms.
“Look, how about we introduce ourselves so there won't be any tension, hm?” Keigo suggests, but the boy just stays quiet.
“I’m Takami Keigo. I attacked you because I was doing my job. I’m a vigilante.”
It was silent for a couple of minutes until the boy finally spoke. “So you attack small criminals for justice or something?”
“No no! I’m in it for the money, haha,” Keigo starts to laugh, but the boy's face in front of him was still frowning. “Ahem, anyways-”
“You low on money too?” The boy interrupts. Keigo nods and the boy's frown deepens.
“So why'd you give me the money earlier?? What's your deal?”
“You guys just needed it more than me,” Keigo answers truthfully. “What's wrong with being a decent person?”
The boy rolled his eyes and started to walk away.
“Ah wait-“
“Touya,” the boy says.
“My name’s Touya.”
A small smile grows on Keigo's face. Touya, Keigo repeats to himself in his head. His smile instantly went away because he remembered he didn't catch him, meaning he doesn't get the 100,000 yen.
“Are you kidding me..”
