Work Text:

Kokichi fucking hated his period

he would get horrible cramps that made it impossible for him to function normally. he would have little to no appetite, and would barely feel like eating anything. the worst part for him though, was the horrible gender dysphoria he would experience.

One day, Kokichi was in school. His boyfriend, Rantaro, wasnt with him, as Rantaro had skipped a year of school, so he had already graduated. Kokichi hadn't been feeling great all day, but he declined Rantaro's offer of staying home, and he was very much regretting that choice. his lower abdomen felt like he had taken multiple punches to the gut, and the thought of blood coming from... that area made him want to puke his guts out. a few hours before the end of the day, he couldn't take the pain anymore, and he went outside and called Rantaro. Rantaro picked up immediately, and he said

"Hey there Kokichi! What's going on?"

"Rantaro, I need to go home."

"What's the matter?" Rantaro asked with concern in his voice.

"I am in so much pain I cant think straight. I just want to lie down." Kokichi said, the pain clear in his tone.

"Ok, I'm on my way." Rantaro said. Kokichi then hung up the phone and waited for about ten minutes before Rantaro showed up. Rantaro got out of his car, and saw Kokichi, sitting outside clutching his abdomen. Rantaro quickly walked over to him, and Kokichi looked up at him and mumbled,

"I'm sorry, I know it's-" But Rantaro cut him off with,

"don't worry about it. Let's go home." in a voice that made Kokichi's heart melt. Rantaro scooped up Kokichi (Kokichi was very light, so he was easy to carry) and carried him to the car, gently setting him in the passenger seat. they drove for about ten muinets before arriving at their shared apartment complex. when they got there, Rantaro got out, and Scooped Kokichi out of the seat, carrying him inside..

"Are you going to carry me the whole way there?" Kokichi asked Rantaro

"Would you rather i not carry you up all those stairs?" Kokichi scowled and said,

"Fuck no, please keep carrying me, my beloved." Rantaro chucked, saying,

"I thought so. Good thing your sense of humor is still intact." As he began the journey up the seemingly endless flights of stairs.

when they arrived at their apartment door, Rantaro was somehow able to get the door open with one hand. once the door was unlocked, they headed inside, the smell of plants and grape kool-aid welcoming both of them. Rantaro set Kokichi on the couch, and stepped out of the room for a moment. he came back a moment later with Kokichi's hot water bottle, and a bottle of grape Panta. Kokichi took the bottle, and set it on his lower abdomen, the pain easing up a bit. Rantaro sat down next to him, and asked

"You feeling any better?"

"Yeah, thanks."

"Its no problem. do you want to watch something? or we can just sit here for a bit."

"Can we keep watching only murders? were almost at the end, and i want to find out who did it." Rantaro had recently gotten Kokichi addicted to watching Only Murders In The Building, and they were almost done with the first season.

"Sure that sounds good." Rantaro said. they watched for a bit, before Rantaro asked, "So, who do you think did it?"

"I think it was the... lady that plays the long thing with the stick coming out of it." Kokichi said. Rantaro chuckled before replying,

"I think you mean a bassoon. I don't think it was her. she got stabbed, remember?"

"Maybe she stabbed herself to take suspicion off of her?" Rantaro nodded in agreement

"You have a point. I think that maybe the cat guy did it."

"What makes you think that? He has no motive!"

"Just a hunch."

"You cant accuse someone of first degree-murder over a hunch." Kokichi scowled, and Rantaro chuckled, before suggesting,

"Maybe we should get Shuichi to watch this. I want to see if he would figure it out before the end."

"Once were finished, well tell him about it. if we tell him now, he'll spoil the whole thing." Both of them had watched murder mysteries with Shuichi before, and Shuichi was almost always right about who the killer was. Though Shuichi's detective skills were impressive, it was always kind of annoying when Shuichi would spoil it before the big reveal.

they kept watching, and after a while, Rantaro asked,

"So, you feeling better?"

"Yeah, thanks for everything." Kokichi replied. His abdominal pain had died down, and he was feeling much better than earlier.

"No problem. I'm glad I could help. Perhaps you should see about going on birth control."

"Why do you say that?"

"Well, you cant keep missing this much school. perhaps it could help you manage your symptoms. Maybe it will help with your dysphoria too." Kokichi had never thought of that before, but now that Rantaro mentioned it, it did sound like a good idea.

"Your right. I will have to look into that."

"We dont have to worry about that right now though, we can just stay here."

Kokichi hated his period, but he was glad that Rantaro was there to make things just a little bit better for him.

Notes:

I headcannon that Rantaro really likes murder mystery, got addicted to watching Only Murders In the Building, and eventually got Kokichi addicted too. Please watch it if you like murder mystery, it's a really good show.
