Work Text:

“Oh my god,” Jin says when he finds the three of them crowding around a bundle. “Is that another monster?”

“Hey, don’t call my baby brother a monster,” Kumi snaps.

Keigo beckons Jin over, pointing to the baby excitedly. “This is Taiga!”

Jin squints behind his sunglasses and to his amazement, Taiga squints back. “I would die for him,” Jin announces.

“Me too,” Kumi says. “Hi, baby brother. I’m Kumi. I’m your big sister. I’m gonna take good care of you.”

Taiga smiles, reaching out for Kumi.

“We gotta call everyone,” Keigo says, standing up and pulling out his phone.

“You do that,” Kumi says, holding out her arms. “I’ll look after little Taiga.”

“Kumi, birdie, you can barely carry the plates properly.”

Kumi pouts. “Fine. I’ll wait till he’s a little bigger.”

In his office in the 1-A dorm building, Aizawa raises his head when Tenko stands up abruptly and starts hunting his desk for something. “What?”

“I can’t find my access card.”

“What do you need your access card for?”

“I gotta steal Natsu from work and then go home and meet my nephew.”

“Oh?”

Tenko practically flies past Eri, who watches him leave with a frown.

“Where’s Tenko off to?”

“New nephew.”

Eri squeals. “Kumi got her brother after all?”

“It would appear so.” Aizawa looks up from his desk. “Aren’t you supposed to be in class?”

Eri grins and holds out her bandaged wrist. “I sprained it sparring in All Might’s class.”

“So go to Recovery Girl.”

“I did, but she kicked me out. Something to do with learning a lesson about taking care of my bones. All Might told me to take the last ten minutes to rest after I went back.”

Aizawa swears he feels his eye twitch. “You remind me of someone.”

“Is it Deku? It’s Deku, isn’t it?” Eri drops herself in Tenko’s chair and spins a few times. “So, when can we go meet the new baby?”

“You can go on Sunday. You know how to use the train.”

Eri pouts. “You’re gonna make me go alone? But Kumi likes you so much! She’s gonna want to introduce you to her brother.”

Fine.”

“I want a little sibling, too,” Eri says thoughtfully, spinning in Tenko’s chair again.

“No.”

“Oh, come on! You did good with me! We don’t even have to get a baby, just a kid younger than me. Ooh, what if I run into a poor, traumatised child on my work study?”

Aizawa’s eye twitches again. “You do one more Deku-like thing and I will put you up for adoption.”

Eri laughs. “Yeah, right. You said that the last time I broke my arm during a training class and yet, here I am. Still an Aizawa.”

“You’re lucky I love you.”

“Aww, I love you too, Dad!”

“Get out. I have work and you’re abusing your family privileges.”

Eri sticks her tongue out at Aizawa. “I’ll bring you dinner when classes after over and if you don’t eat it, I’ll tell Nezu.”

Aizawa sighs as Eri hops off the chair and skips out of the room. Honestly, if Eri went out on her work study one day and returned with a scared, traumatised child, he wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest.

Iori finishes checking in with one of her patients and heads down to reception only to find Himiko waiting for her.

“Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Iori asks, smiling and accepting Himiko’s kiss on her cheek.

“You’re going on lunch now, right? You gotta come home. Keigo acquired a baby.”

Iori’s eyes widen. “Seriously? It worked?”

“Yeah! Come on! I borrowed one of my waiters’ cars so we don’t take up too much of your break with the train.”

Iori tags out of the hospital and follows Himiko to the car. She can’t wait to meet the new baby.

At Kumi’s favourite store, Nori nudges Jin. “Stop stealing my best employee’s attention.”

“Come on, his shift ends in ten minutes.”

“Yeah,” Kosuke says. “And the store is nearly empty today. Let me talk to my boyfriend.”

Nori sighs dramatically. “The things I do for you, Inaba.”

“You love me. I’m your favourite employee.”

“Okay, don’t get a big head.”

“Look!” Jin suddenly shouts, attracting the attention of the three other attendants milling about. He shoves his phone at Kosuke, nodding for Nori to look at the photo too. “Kumi has a brother!”

Nori sighs. “I suppose I could let you clock out eight minutes early. Just this once!”

“You’re the best,” Kosuke shouts, already rushing to change out of his uniform.

“Let me see!” Reiji shouts, jumping to try to get a glimpse of Atsuhiro’s phone.

“Oh, he looks so sweet,” Ichika gushes as Atsuhiro leans down for Reiji, Maki and the twins to see the photo Keigo texted him.

“What’s his name?” Maki asks.

Ichika glances at the phone. “Taiga. Hinotori Taiga.”

“Can we go see him?” Aki asks. “Can we go now?”

“We’ll go when Kurogiri gets off his shift at the bar,” Atsuhiro says.

Emi tugs on Maki’s shirt. “Come help me make a card for Taiga, please.”

“Ooh, I wanna make a card too!” Aki shouts, bouncing on her feet.

“Me three,” Reiji says.

“Should we get something for them?” Ichika asks once the children rush off.

Atsuhiro’s phone pings. “Kei wants to know if you still have any formula mix from when we temporarily fostered the newborn last month.”

Ichika smiles. “I do. Let’s go shopping for some baby clothes before Kurogiri’s shift ends. We can let the kids choose an outfit each.”

“Oh, they’ll like that. I’ll go and tell them.”

Rei stumbles into the kitchen when she hears Fuyumi scream. “What? What happened? Who died?”

“No one! Niisan has a baby boy! Look, Kei texted me!”

Rei and Fuyumi are cooing over the photo when Enji arrives.

“Dad, look! Your third grandchild!”

Enji stares at the photo. “He has Touya’s hair,” he says softly.

“What’s his name?” Rei asks.

“Taiga!”

“Oh, he looks so precious. I wanna pinch his cheeks.”

“Everyone at home is probably going to be all over him,” Fuyumi says. “I’ll tell them we’ll visit tomorrow. Dad, are you coming with?”

Enji hesitates. “I don’t know if Touya. . .”

Fuyumi smiles widely. “I’m not asking, Dad. Niisan is.”

“Oh.”

Katsuki watches Shoto hold his phone out in front of their four-year-old, Atsuki.

“Cousin?” Atsuki asks, looking up at Shoto. “Like Kumi?”

“Mhm. This is Kumi’s baby brother. His name is Taiga.”

“Let me see,” Katsuki says.

Shoto straightens up and shows Katsuki the photo. “Touya-nii texted me.”

“He looks like he’d push me out of a moving truck.”

“You just hate babies.”

“They have creepy stares.” Katsuki grins and picks Atsuki up, throwing him over his shoulder. “That’s why we asked the agency for an older kid. Isn’t that right, you little brat?”

Atsuki giggles when Katsuki tickles him. “Stop! I’m gonna burst!”

Katsuki turns him upside down. “Say hi to your old man.”

“Hi!” Atsuki grins, then frowns. “Can I play with Taiga? Like Kumi plays with me when we visit?”

“No,” Katsuki says, “he’s too small for that.”

“Aw. When will he get bigger?”

“Sooner than his parents would like, I’m sure.”

“Kats, you’re going to make him throw up his lunch.”

Katsuki stares at Shoto. “Atsu, your old man’s a spoilsport.”

Atsuki giggles, swinging his arms. “Turn daddy upside down. Then he’ll laugh.”

“Oh, I’ll fold him in half later,” Katsuki says, shooting Shoto a wink. He grins when Shoto flushes red and turns away, suddenly very busy replying to Touya.

“Like a pretzel?” Atsuki asks innocently.

“Sure, brat.”

Atsuki sighs. “I can’t wait to play with Taiga.”

Rumi taps her foot rapidly as she waits for Keigo to pick up the phone.

“He —”

“WHY DID I HAVE TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SON THROUGH YUMI?”

Keigo is silent on the other end for a moment. “Sorry.”

“Damn right, you’re sorry. I’m coming over this weekend and you better be prepared to hand over your son for a good three hours.”

“You can have four if you come over tomorrow and help us finish remodelling Atsuhiro’s old room. He’s officially moving to Hiroshima.”

Rumi checks her schedule. “Give me one minute.”

“Mhm.”

Rumi picks up the telephone on her desk and dials the extension for one of her agency’s new hires.

“Good afternoon, Mirko,” Jack Mantis says.

“Hi, how do you feel about taking over my patrols for the rest of the week?”

“Sure, is everything okay?”

“Mm, I have to go meet my godson.”

“Oh, okay. Enjoy!”

Rumi puts the telephone down and lifts her cell phone back to her ear. “I’ll be there tonight.”

“You do know he’s not your godson, right?”

“Shut up. You didn’t even tell me you got another kid. I’ll see you tonight.”

Rumi hangs up on Keigo and goes back into her chat with Fuyumi to look at the photo again. Taiga looks so soft and gentle, but Rumi knows from her experience with Kumi that he might be just as unhinged as the rest of his family.

“Sya!” Kyoka calls from the bottom of the stairs. “Eito! Can you two come down here?”

Two pairs of footsteps ring through the house as the boys race each other from their rooms.

Momo pops her head into the hallway. “What happened?”

“Oh, you’re back. How was work?”

“Lots of paperwork today. Only three of my interns tripped over the front step, so that’s good news.”

Kyoka smiles. “See? I told you a warning sign would help. When are the renovators coming to fix it?”

“Next week.”

“I win,” Syaoran says, huffing for breath.

“Nuh-uh!”

“Oi, boys. You want some news or not?”

“Ooh, what kind of news?” Momo asks.

“I just received a picture from your Uncle Katsuki.”

Syaoran gasps. “Is he getting a new plushie? Can I have it?”

“No,” Kyoka says, shaking her head. “Here.”

Momo leans over the boys’ heads to look at the photo. “Oh! He looks like an angel! What’s his name?”

“Taiga,” Kyoka says.

“That’s a beautiful name.”

“Kumi has a baby brother now?!” Eito cries. “I want a baby brother too!”

“You are the baby brother, dummy,” Syaoran says.

“We’ll think about it,” Kyoka says.

Momo, who’d been thinking about it for weeks, raises her eyebrows. “We will?”

“Yeah.” Kyoka returns Momo’s grin.

“Daichi,” Sakura calls. “Are you busy?”

“Nope!”

Sakura smiles when she hears Daichi drop his controller and sprint to her room.

“What’s up?”

“We’ll have to forgo park time this Saturday.”

“Aw, why? Is Natsu okay?”

“Natsu’s fine. We’ll be going to see Kumi at home on Saturday.”

Daichi crawls onto the bed beside his mother when she pats the space beside her. “Is Micchan okay? Did she get hurt?”

“Mm, she’s fine, too. But, you remember when you told me Kumi wanted to be a big sister?”

Daichi nods.

Sakura hands him her phone and smiles. “Natsu sent me a picture. This is Kumi’s baby brother, Taiga.”

Daichi looks between the photo and his mother a few times. “KUMI HAS A BROTHER?!”

Sakura laughs softly. “She does!”

“He looks a little like Kumi’s Touya Papa.”

“He does, doesn’t he? I think it’s cute, because Kumi looks a lot like her Kei Papa.”

“He looks squishy,” Daichi says, poking the screen. “I wanna squish him.”

“That would probably hurt him, honey.”

“So, we’re gonna go see him on Saturday?”

“Mhm. You’ll still be able to play with Kumi at her house, and if you both want to go to the park after Mom talks to Kumi’s parents a little bit, I’ll take you both, okay?”

“Okay! Can we buy a present for Kumi’s baby brother? What do babies like?”

“Mm, well, Touya told me that Kumi liked rattles a lot when she was a baby. Maybe we can buy Taiga some toys? We’ll go shopping after Mom’s shift tomorrow, how’s that? I’ll pick you up from school and we can go to the mall.”

“Ugh, I still have to go to school?”

“Yes, baby, you can’t skip school just because Kumi has a baby brother now.”

“Fine. I’m gonna make Kumi a card that says ‘best sister ever’ in art class and I’ll give it to her during lunch.”

“That sounds like a wonderful idea!”

Daichi looks at the photo again. “That’s so awesome. I’m gonna play with Taiga when he’s big enough, too. You think he’ll like the park, Mom?”

Sakura shrugs. “We’ll just have to wait and find out, won’t we?”

“Yeah.”

Kimura Shinju usually leaves the PR team to handle things themselves, but when Hawks does something particularly flashy, she tends to help them try to put out the fires.

She’s spent more time with the PR team in the last year than she has during the entirety of her employment at Hawks Agency. Most of it was spent stomping out claims that Hawks is a bad hero because he sided with villains, or dealing with concerns that Hawks won’t be as reliable a hero now that he’s got a kid.

She did have a bit of fun reading through all the posts about how cute the family looked during the press conference, though.

Today, however, Shinju is beyond pissed. It’s after hours, but that’s never stopped her from harassing Hawks before. She’s going to keep calling him until he picks up. On the fifth try, he finally does.

“Kimura, I left you in charge of the agency for a reason. I’m officially on leave. Go home.”

“Tell me why I found out you have a son through the internet instead of your own mouth,” Shinju demands. “Two whole days after he was born?”

“The internet? How does the internet know?”

“Your beloved gamer nerd forgot he was streaming and told his entire fan base that he is now an uncle of two. At first, it was just circulating in his circles, but once your fan base clued in, it spread everywhere. The whole of Japan knows you have a son, now.”

Hawks is silent for a moment. “Oops?”

“OOPS?! Do you have any idea how many posts your PR team is going through right now? They’ve replied to about a hundred in the last hour alone. You’re giving us all a big bonus for Christmas this year, you hear me?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“He’s cute, by the way.”

“There are pictures of him on the internet already?!”

Shinju rolls her eyes. “No. Mirko texted me the photos after I called her to ask if it’s true or if there’s just rumours floating around.”

“Oh. Okay. Good.”

“Asshole,” Shinju snaps. “You should’ve called me. We’ve all be waiting for you to get it right with that guy you had us searching for. We’re sending you a gift parcel. The chocolates are for your husband.”

“I’m totally going to eat the chocolates.”

“You don’t even like chocolate.”

Maturely, Hawks mocks Shinju under his breath. She snickers.

“He really is pretty cute. Good job, boss.”

“Thanks,” Hawks says, his smile audible in his voice.

“I’ll let you enjoy the rest of your time off. But you better send me more photos of your son.”

Hawks laughs. “I will.”

“Good night, boss.”

“Night, Kimura. Get home safe.”

Shinju smiles. “Thanks.”

After she hangs up, Shinju heads down to the accounting department, pleased to see a few of them still there.

“So, what’s the budget on a gift parcel we can make to send to Musutafu?”
