    While Lucilla hopes to finally bring her relationship with Maximus to another, more intimate level, forces are at work that want to destroy the young couple's happiness. And the consequences could be catastrophic.

    This series is a canon-compliant prequel to Ridley Scott's "Gladiator". Each part will take you to another point in the three main characters' past, so they can be read separately - but I strongly recommend reading them chronologically, especially with this one, since the year 171 AD marks the critical turning point in Lucilla and Maximus' relation; in every aspect.
