Leo shuffled away from the edge of the bed as his door creaked open in the small hours. He held the edge of the blankets up and tried not to hiss as the cold air infiltrated his warm cocoon. Ciri darted across the room and slid in, clinging desperately around his middle. She shoved her freezing feet against his shins and shivered as he wrapped her in his arms. He ran a hand over the back of her head, combing the snarls from her hair and leaned down to press a soft kiss to her forehead.
‘Sleep. You’re safe now.’
