Today was meant to be normal for a casual day in Gravity Falls… But it seemed as though the twins had other plans. You see the twins had a plan... A fairly devious one at that. “Okay Dip-dop, shall we go through the plan one more time?” She asked mischievously as she leaned in close to ensure no one else could hear her talk. Dipper nodded, thinking that was the best course of action. This would be probably one of the most serious things that they’d done yet together, and Dipper wanted to do it right.
These two were pranksters and had been named the best in the whole of Gravity Falls, a title which they held close to their hearts. “Okay so, you’re gonna start to feel sick, like dizzy, wanting to throw up, unable to walk…. Stuff that Bill would help you with if he was genuinely worried about you!” She told him, keeping her voice low but it was evident that she was excited by the look on her face. Still, it was better to be quiet when planning something as intricate as this. Dipper nodded knowingly.
The two usually did quite harmless pranks. Pranks that you might get lightly told off for if you did it enough times, but they usually brought laughter out of any victim that they had, as long as they weren’t grumpy. This one in particular though was not one of those pranks…
“If he brings you to bed, that’s when the next part starts!” She told him, and Dipper nodded. This was going to be tricky to pull off, especially because Bill was most likely already expecting Dipper to do something along these lines sooner or later. It wasn’t out of the twins’ comfort zone to pretend to be ill either for a joke or to get time off school.
“Isn’t the next part of the plan… Like ‘passing’ out?” He asked, using quotation marks around the ‘passing’ to get his point across. Mabel nodded with a gleeful look across her face. “Yes! I’ll lead him on to say you’re going into a coma! It’ll be the best prank we’ve done yet! And we get to see how Bill will take it,” She giggled, looking as if she was about to get so excited her head blew off.
“Alright… I’ll head out now, see Bill and all that,” Dipper told his sister, with a smile written across his face. Mabel gave him a thumbs up and a quick ‘good luck’ as Dipper left the room in search of the demon they were going to be pranking. Bill was standing on the porch of the Mystery Shack and was watching the forest for no apparent reason. It intrigued the brunette, but that wasn't the plan.
Of course, there will have been a reason for Bill, but the brunette had no idea on what was going through the demon’s head. “Bill?” Dipper asked, trying to initiate conversation. Bill turned and saw Dipper. He gave a small smile. “Pinetree! Didn’t expect to see you here!” He exclaimed and welcomed the brunette’s presence with pleasure.
“What brings you here?” Bill asked as he turned to watch the forest once more. For some reason, Dipper’s interest was immensely spiked again, but he decided not to say anything, after all, he had a prank to play. “Oh, you! Just wanted to see what was up with you,” Dipper said, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
“Hmmm, you never usually check on me unless you want something Pinetree,” The demon pointed out, grinning from ear to ear as he turned to smirk at the brunette. Dipper shrugged and yawned slightly, it was meant to be put on, but Dipper did feel strangely tired today. Oh well. It wasn't like this was important in any way, right?
“Well, maybe I just wanted to stand with you!” Dipper argued but had a smile on his face. Bill tutted a little before moving to stare back at the forest. With a fake sense of worry, the brunette put an arm around his stomach as if he wasn’t feeling well, but Bill didn’t immediately see the movement. “Hmmm… Still suspicious, Pinetree,” He argued back, but he obviously wasn’t angry. If anything, the demon was just playing around now, happy that Dipper was hanging out with him.
“Oh well, at least I’m here, no matter what I might or might not want to do,” Dipper teased and panted slightly. He was trying to not seem too obvious about ‘feeling ill’, but he also wanted Bill to notice that he wasn’t ‘feeling well’ just in case everything came on too quickly. Bill glanced over to the brunette and noticed the way he was standing, but didn’t say anything.
“Well I have a sneaky suspicion Pinetree that you’re trying to pull something,” He muttered and brought the brunette closer. It was like a hug, but not quite. Bill’s arm was snaked around the brunette’s waist, and Dipper had more or less relaxed from the feeling. Wait, what? What was he doing..? Dipper gulped a little as a blush rushed to his cheeks. Suddenly his brain sparked up again. Oh yeah, he was trying to play a prank, wasn’t he?
“Nah, why would I want to play something when I feel unwell?” Dipper asked casually as if there wasn’t any possibility in him acting as though he was feeling ill and also as if weren't affected by the demon's actions. Bill looked over to the brunette and put a hand on his forehead. Bill immediately cooled the brunette. Although Dipper himself didn’t feel especially ill, or hot in any way - Bill’s hand felt like a breath of fresh air against his forehead.
The brunette, without truly realising it, took Bill’s wrist to press up even further against his forehead. Bill hummed in thought. “You do feel a bit warmer than you usually do Pinetree,” Bill replied, feeling a bit worried about the smaller, but not showing anything to him.
“I do feel a bit dizzy, but I’m worried about this sick feeling in my stomach more than that,” Dipper murmured, trying not to seem too happy about how easy this seemed to be. Bill stared at him for a moment before he had a bright idea. “Let’s go sit down Pinetree, if you’re dizzy we should probably sit,” he reasoned.
It didn’t take long to lead Dipper to the small bench that Stan had left outside of the Mystery Shack, and Dipper almost smiled. His plan seemed to be doing well so far! Bill kept glancing at the brunette as he relaxed on the chair and began to close his eyes. Oh, Dipper would kill to take a nap right now…
Dipper began to close his eyes as he leaned onto Bill and the demon frowned. It definitely looked as though there was something wrong with Pinetree. “Uhhh? Pinetree? You look like you’re about to fall asleep,” He murmured, feeling unsure of whether he should be loud or allow the brunette to sleep.
Dipper opened his eyes to a concerned Bill, and his heart almost melted. A part of Dipper felt conflicted. Should he really be doing this to the demon? It felt almost cruel to let the demon panic. But he was so tired… And he was supposed to get Bill to bring him to bed…! Maybe if he just let it run for a little longer…
“I don’t know why I just really wanna close my eyes… It feels like the world’s spinning…” Dipper partially lied, watching the demon with shaky eyes the more he felt plagued by sleep. Bill frowned. “Maybe you should go rest in bed or something Pinetree,” Bill said and stood up. Dipper avoided eye contact.
“Bill, I’m not sure if I could get all the way upstairs with this dizzy feeling,” Dipper said. He was faking embarrassment, but if he wanted to keep up the dizzy look, he wouldn’t be able to walk for too long without Bill’s ‘help’. The demon sighed and put his hands on his hips.
“Stand up Pinetree,” Bill instructed. Not really knowing what the demon had in mind, Dipper got up the slowest and ‘hardest’ he could, using the bench to ‘stay upright’ when he stood to give more of an effect. Before Dipper could complain, Bill had put a hand on the brunette’s back and ass, and had brought him into his arms, bridal style.
Dipper yelped and clutched onto Bill’s shirt tightly, not expecting any sudden movement to happen. Bill laughed at the action but he began walking, bringing the brunette inside and towards his bedroom. Mabel was nowhere in sight as the boys moved through the building, and neither was Stan or Ford, although it was a lot more expected to not find Ford in the Shack, due to him living in the basement.
Bill had a bit of a problem getting through the stairs, but the closer that Dipper clung and practically hid into the blonde, the easier it was for Bill to bring him up into his bedroom. Once they were in the said bedroom, Dipper was carefully placed in the bed and wrapped up as if he were snug as a bug.
Dipper yawned and felt ready to go to sleep. Bill watched him with a concerned look. “Do you want me to stay with you Pinetree?” He asked, frowning as the brunette edged further and further to a nap. Dipper began to murmur and practically babble nonsense as he adjusted his position in the bed, ready for a nap.
Bill took this in a completely different manner and took the wheelie chair in Dipper’s room, and brought it to the brunette’s bed. Dipper didn’t seem to notice as he pretended to sleep. He wasn’t quite tired enough to sleep, but if he had to keep this up for any longer he would certainly pass out.
There was a long string of silence as the world began to disappear, Bill wasn’t saying anything, and Dipper wasn’t trying to act as though he was awake either. As Dipper was beginning to finally fall asleep when Bill began to voice his concern. Through the muddy lens of tiredness, Dipper heard the beginning of Bill’s panic, but he’d never remember.
“Pinetree? If this is a prank… It’s not funny anymore, you can get up, show me… I even carried you upstairs for hell’s sake,” He said, with his voice slightly quivering to the end. Mabel, who was currently hiding in the dresser, listened carefully to Bill’s words, and was waiting for her brother to make a move.
“Pinetree, c’mon... Sit up,” Bill urged, with his voice turning a little louder than before. Bill tapped Dipper on the head and then checked his pulse, it was fine. It was the average rate his heartbeat was, so he definitely wasn’t playing around, or otherwise, he’d be so excited that his heartbeat would be a lot faster. At least, that’s what Bill thought.
Mabel frowned, he wasn’t seeing what Bill was doing, but she knew that this was enough, and Dipper would’ve ‘woken up’ by now. She was getting worried herself. Bill continued to get worked up for the next ten minutes, before going brutally silent. Mabel, who was dying to know what was going on, why Dipper wasn’t waking up and was feeling extremely uncomfortable in the dresser (she had originally suspected to be in there for ten minutes, but it had quickly turned closer to thirty…) decided to get out five minutes after it had gone silent.
The first thing she noticed was that Bill wasn’t in the chair he had wheeled to the bed. The second thing she noticed was that Bill was on the bed, holding her brother’s hand as he passed out. The demon went beet red upon seeing the female twin pop out of the dresser and dropped Dipper’s hand.
“How much did you see? Or hear for that matter?” Bill demanded although he was a little quiet, mainly because of Dipper sleeping beside him though. “I heard it all… But I didn’t see anything,” She said, with a grin all over her face. He then contemplated for a moment, taking in the details, looked back over to a sleeping Dipper, and then back to Mabel.
“Is this a prank?” He asked with a sceptical look on his face. Mabel frowned as she approached the two men. “It was supposed to be,” she admitted as she sat down, staring at her brother. “It seems that there was actually something wrong with Dip-dop, or he’s fooling the both of us,” She said, looking worried. Bill huffed and turned his head.
“As if this meatsack could make me worry ,” Bill spat, getting defensive over something he had already admitted. Mabel snorted but didn’t say anything else. Bill shot her a death glare, but they sat in silence for a good few minutes. It didn’t take long for the two of them to collaborate on panicking about Dipper though.
As the two hours progressed, Bill and Mabel did their best to stay calm but also tried to be the loudest they could possibly be to wake the brunette up, poked him, moved him slightly and even slammed the door. However, they weren’t willing to resort to violence, not until it got to the six-hour mark.
Together, they made a duo of stupidity, mainly because they simply hadn't realised that Dipper was taking a nap and that he was a deep sleeper. Mabel should have known, due to him sleeping in the same room as her brother for the majority of her life, but that didn't appear to be the case. Bill's knowledge of humans wasn't coming in handy either, or rather, a severe lack of knowledge on how human bodies worked. Honestly, if Dipper could've seen them during those moments, he would've laughed into his own grave.
Thankfully, it didn’t get that far, midway through the third hour of Dipper being completely and utterly passed out, he began to wake as Bill and Mabel practically screamed in panic. The moment the loud sound went through the brunette’s ears, he groaned loudly and put the pillow underneath his head on top to muffle any noise coming from the two idiots.
They instantly quietened down the moment Dipper’s groan rang through the room, and they looked over at Dipper. Mabel’s was a mix of confusion and relief, however, Bill’s was a mix of anger, adrenaline and joy. “Pinetree?” Bill asked, taking a step closer to the brunette. There was an angry grumble coming from the pillow and Mabel instantly rushed to his side.
“Bro-bro! You're awake! Thank goodness,” She spoke, she had spoken so fast that Dipper hadn’t really caught anything other than ‘bro’. “I was just sleeping…..” There was silence. “... Wasn’t something important happening?” Dipper asked and took the pillow off of his face as he yawned. Bill was trying to debate whether he should be angry, or just thankful that the brunette was sleeping.
“You’re a deep sleeper Dip-dop…” She said, slowing down considerably as she calmed down. Bill scoffed. “That’s an understatement Shooting Star,” He muttered, quite annoyed. Mabel rolled her eyes at Bill and his pettiness. “He was worrying about you!” She excitedly told her brother, and Dipper might’ve appreciated the statement if it hadn’t been practically yelled into his ear.
Dipper visibly winced at her being loud, and then it became silent, eerily silent. Dipper turned to glance at Bill, who was giving the coldest-looking death stare that the brunette had ever seen to his sister. Dipper sighed and got out of bed. “Let’s just calm down,” He said, breaking the silence with considerable ease.
Bill stared at the brunette for a good minute before glancing back at Mabel. “Fine,” He quietly replied, and then left the room without another word. Dipper wanted to stop the blonde, to question him, and to comfort him. Yet something in his mind told him to leave the demon to his demons, for now…
