Secret Face

Summary:

As much as Adrien wished for freedom, running around in a leather skin-tight catsuit with fake ears and a mask was not what he planned on. He didn't like people seeing his face. He had been concealed his entire life, even taking on Homeschooling instead of going in person. And even though the mask would cover that, it didn't stop him from being uncomfortable.
The first time he had transformed, he almost had a panic attack. His eyes were so GREEN, his suit was so TIGHT, and his hair was so FLUFFY! He wanted to say he hated it, but...
Why was this happening to him? Adrien hadn't done anything to deserve this nightmare!
Adrien had mixed feelings about being a superhero. On one hand, it was great! Being able to help people was always something that he had wanted to do! But the problem with helping a large community was that you would have to be known. And that part didn't appeal to Adrien.
Eventually, Plagg convinced Adrien to at least give being a superhero a try. Adrien agreed reluctantly, only saying yes because if he didn't, he would have a whole lot of guilt afterwards for not choosing to help people.

Notes:

HELLO HELLO!
This is my first fic on AO3 and I am so excited to share this random idea I had!

I had it a few days ago, and since then have been listening to "INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC" on loop for the past two days, worldbuilding and writing!

So without any further ado...

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Plagg didn't like this. He had never had a holder quite like this one. Shy. uncontrollably shy. And quiet. Plagg wasn't used to quiet. All his kid did was sit and watch movies, or bang his head on the piano keys. Well, he didn't actually do that, but it sure sounded like it.

Master Fu had insisted that this random kid he had run into on the street was "the one". He said he had a feeling in his gut. Plagg thought it was just Master Fu being old. He was practically 200 years old anyways, it could be anything.

Plagg's holder seemed hesitant when he had gotten the ring. Plagg teased him and laughed it off, calling him a chicken. 'Cause like, who doesn't want to be a superhero!
Adrien didn't. No, no, no, no, NO he didn't. Plagg didn't understand why.

So he transformed.

And jumped out his window.

In a catsuit.

But hey, that was fine! He just had to get used to it!

When Chat Noir had first met Ladybug, there was already an Akuma attacking the city, and that was the only reason why he had indulged into a conversation with his new partner, Ladybug.

He hadn't talked very much, and was very awkward. He was too busy thinking how he looked and sounded to her than the actual battle, causing him and Ladybug to come far too close to losing their first battle.

They had decided that they should meet up before the next akuma to try to get to know eachother a little bit so they worked better together.

Chat Noir arrived first, landing on the rooftop swiftly, taking advantage his cat-like abilities.

He sat down and swung his legs over the side of the building, trying to be as quiet as he could in case the people in the building were awake and could hear him. And if they weren't, he didn't want to be the one to wake them up. It was practically midnight after all. Chat yawned. He would never get used to the late nights.

It wasn't until a few minutes later that Ladybug showed up. She looked exhausted. Chat felt kind of bad, even though it wasn't his fault. She still seemed like she wasn't used to the whole "swinging around Paris with a yoyo" ordeal, landing clumsily on the building that Chat was sitting on. He smiled at her. She smiled back.

She.

Smiled.

BACK.

Chat Noir felt his face turn red. He wouldn't admit it to Plagg, but he was kind of, sort of, in love. With Ladybug. Which felt kind of odd. Chat wasn't used to feeling these kinds of things. The closest feeling he had to this was when he was 11, when he was watching a movie. He had grown a "celebraty crush" on one of the main cast members, but thats all it ever was. This feeling he had towards Ladybug, this was real.

She sat beside him awkwardly, noticing the slight blush that was peeking from behind his mask. They sat in silence for a second, though it dragged out for what seemed like forever. Chat wanted to say something, but didn't know what; he was scared of sounding like a weirdo to his newfound partner. Ladybug was the one to break the silence.

"I-I um...brought cookies!" She said a little too loudly. She brought out a small box and opened it. Chat's mouth began to water. They smelt so. GOOD. "Sorry- um... I didn't know what kinds you liked so I just brought a bunch of differe-"

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Chat exclaimed, reaching his hand into the box and pulling out a passion fruit macaroon. He took and bite and savored the flavor. Ladybug looked pleased. She reached into the box and took a chocolate chip cookie. "Did you make these?" Chat asked. Ladybug shook her head.

"My parents made them." Ladybug answered, taking a bite of her cookie.
"Well, they're delicious!" Chat said between bites. "Your parents should start a bakery!" Ladybug giggled. She took another bite of her cookie and looked out at the city. Chat Noir finished his cookie and looked at her. She was beautiful.

After a bit of conversation about the basics of their personal lives like their ages, basic likes and dislikes, and other things of sorts, they decided to call it a night.

Ladybug wouldn't call Chat "talkative" per-say, but he wasn't the most chattiest person she had met. She noticed how he listened to her, taking in every single word she said. She found him odd, but in a good way. She was glad to have him as her new partner. And so was he.

Chat Noir landed in his room with a slight thud. His tiredness had hit him hard during his conversation with Ladybug. He struggled to keep his eyes open while talking about his interest in music, catching the attention of Ladybug. She had smiled so fondly of him, her dark hair framing her perfect face and blue eyes. He couldn't help but blurting out how beautiful she looked. She had been startled, but obviously flattered. He hadn't realized what he had said until she was stuttering over every word she said, her face bright red with blush. He was blushing too, he rememebered the feeling of his face burning. He was so embarrassed.

Chat Noir detransformed and faceplanted into his bed. The soft covers felt so comfy... He crawled to the head of his bed and got under the blankets, basking in the comfort they provided. He had never felt like this before. In a daze of love, though that could be from his loss of sleep.

He knew it was wrong, but he secretly hoped for many more akumas to come, just so he could see his lady. His lady. Oh boy, he liked the sound of that.

He took a deep breath and sank further into his bed, soothed by the subtle sound of the city outside, and the image of Ladybug's blue eyes burned into his brain, lulling him to sleep.
