Marinette is left a hopeless, defeated, broken mess after Monarch's recent victory in gaining the remaining miraculous from the miracle box. She doesn't know who to trust anymore, not even her closest friends, and soon finds comfort in sweet and quiet isolation.
After Luka saves her from almost getting akumatized, he comes clean about his biggest secret: he knows she's Ladybug. Soon Marinette and Luka are revisiting their old past and come face to face with rekindled feelings, but before they can even begin to start over, Luka disappears.
Thinking she's been abandoned again, Marinette falls into a deep spiral and vows to never, ever trust or let anyone in again.
That is, until a voice appears in her head and she's frozen and numb in fear as Monarch calls her by her second name: Ladybug.
Marinette is akumatized into The Marionette—a camouflaged puppet-like version of herself.
Her only task? Trick Adrien into falling in love with her, then steal his ring and bring both miraculous back to Monarch.
