Chapter Text
“Mercy,” screams the Dalek, “have pity.”
“Why should I?” the Doctor asks. “You never did.”
In the end – he’s tired of hearing the screams of the innocent; he’s tired of the evil of his nightmares haunting him – so he shouts, “Not today. Today, I honor the victims first.”
He wants Amy to understand – he needs her to understand.
“Today, I honor the victims first,” he shouts, “His, the Master’s, the Daleks’, all the people who died because of my mercy.”
“Why should I?” the Doctor asks. “You never did.”
The Dalek screams and screams.
And the Doctor ignores it all.
