A sigh escaped her lips before she lowered herself off of her friends shoulders.
“Good news and bed news!, “Thalia smiled sheepishly as she rocked on her toes., “Good news, the monster is gone! Yellow dust, so someone here must’ve accidentally killed it! Which is good we can all agree. Bad news, we’re stuck here. Until someone finds us.”
Thalia held her smile as she looked amoung the three sets of eyes on her. One pair was oxen black, another deep brown and the last a auburn brown. They were all silent until the owner of the auburn eyes spoke.
“So your telling us we’re stuck here, and will probably die of starvation?, “She asked making all of their eyes look at her with confusion.
A girl with oxen eyes and raven hair spoke up, “I’ve been a hunter far longer than- well all of you. And we can’t DIE of starvation. If anything we’ll pass out. We can only die fighting.”
“Like you did?, “The last girl asked, the bark colored braid of hers falling over her shoulder.
“Yes, Reyna., “She grumbled, “Like I did.”
“You stayed dead for a couple of years, if I’m correct?, “Reyna asked again., “Because you died when Nico was 10 and came back to life when he was 13 14ish. Correct?”
“Yes.”
“So I’m that tenchicality, Thailia was a hunter longer than you Bianca., “Calypso spoke Reynas mind.
Bianca’s eyes semmed to murder Calypso and Reyna with one glace, both of them retracted almost instantly as her gaze settled on them., “Yes. But then again I am the oldest still. So I do know the most.”
“But you’re not the oldest?, “Calypso said., “I am.”
“You’re older than Lady Artemis herself, so it cancels out, and doesn’t count., “Bianca shrugged., “It’s like PEMDAS.”
“What is PEMDAS?, “Calypso cocked her head, sitting down in a batch of wet ground, shivering when her legs made contact.
“Something for math, “Bianca explained making Calypso roll her eyes.
“No shit.”
“Ugh, I wasn’t done explaining., “Binca growled before pushing her scraggy black bangs out of her eyes., “Nico and Percy told me about it. They said it was a newer math abbreviation.”
“Uh. Ok., “Calypso murmured while taking off her coat., “I’m kinda overheated, you guys?”
“Now that you mention it, “Reyna gumbled as she lifted her braid to fan the back of her neck., “What is that?”
All three of the girls were fanning themselves while Thalia stood and stared.
Then her face fell into shock.
“Guys put your coats back on now!, “Thalia yelled sweat dripping from her chin.
“Why?, “Bianca murmured, as the girl she’s known her entire Demigod career grab her shoulders and shake her.
“Because we could either A- have hypothermia B- Have out bodys slowly reject all heat making up overheat OR C- be in a sewer pipe with a gas leak., “Thalia spoke while tapping her fingers to emphasize her points.
“So you’re saying we could die?, “Reyna asked turning her head aside like a lost puppy.
“NO!, “Bianca yelled., “We can only fall in battle.”
Reyna rolled her eyes at the youngest looking girl of them all before standing up., “Fine if it is a gas leak we need out soon because we could pass out from the chemicals.”
“Thalia said we need someone to get us out from outside?, “Calypso spoke, making it sound like a question.
“It’s nighttime and we have a daughter of Hades with us., “Reyna deadpanned staring Calypso in the face.
“OH!, “Bianca gasped before shuffling around for a minute., “I forgot. Oops.”
Thalia rolled her eyes at her co-lutenient before watching her dissipate into the shadows and disapear. She looked over at the opening and waited for her to show up in the shadow covering the opening. And then she did.
“Ok. I’m being honest here I have no clue how to open this., “She leaned down so her head was in the opening., “What if I shadow traveled you all up here?”
Thalia felt herself shiver at the same time as Reyna., “How about no? I had enough of shadow traveling when I almost fell into a active volcano.”
“I’m more exsperienced in shadow traveling than Nico is.”
“Actually I’ve traveled with you both shadow wise and let me tell you, no you’re not. If anything Nico is., “Thalia sighed.
“Well then you guys are stuck until Lady Artemis sends a group of finds you herself., “Biance grumbled as she sat down next to it, still staying in the shadows.
“If neither of you are going to let Bianca shadow travel with you then I will., “Calypso said before turning her head., “Whenever your ready Bi!”
Thalia heard Bianca laugh slightly before she saw out of the corner of her eye the shadows where she was get darker and more distorted before it all disappeared. As it did she reappeared beside Calypso with her arms exstended.
“Are you trying to hold me bridal style or something?, “Calypso asked. Laughing when Bianca’s face went red and pushed her slightly, laughing as well.
“Ha ha. Very funny Calypso., “Bianca grumbled shoving her in the arm before her face lit up., “Actually, I wanna see if I have the body strength for that. Hold on.”
Thalia watched one thing go to another until Bianca was holding Calypso like they were newlyweds., “Not as hard as I expected it to be., “Bianca laughed before she faded into the shadows. Once again the dark aura staying until she reappeared.
Thalia looked out of the opening and saw Bianca and Calypso laying down on the ground both laughing.
Thalia snorted at the sighing before yelling., “Bianca comeon get me and Reyna out!”
“Ok., “Bianca laughed as she rolled over before dissipating once again.
When she reappeared she half out her arms once again., “All right lady’s take one arm because I’m making just one more trip!”
Thalia rolled her eyes before reluctantly taking Bianca’s arm, Reyna doing the same.
Shadow traveling was just how it was when Thalia last remembered it, cold, dark, erie, and dulling. Yet for some reason when she felt herself back on solid ground she started laughing. She was laying down next to Reyna Bianca and Calypso, she hadn’t bothered to get up and just laid there.
After a few minutes Bianca was the one to get up., “All right guys we need to start looking for the rest of the hunters or miss Artemis.”
Thalia, Reyna and Calypso followed her movement before walking with her.
As Thalia walked behind Bianca she couldn’t help but laugh at their situation., “I can’t believe this is what happens to us when we’re sent to kill a monster together at 3 am.”
Bianca snickered with her., “Yeah…”
Before Thalia knew it both Calypso and Reyna were laughing with and commenting about their night.
As they joked and walked, Thalia thought to herself, smiling.
‘Nothing about the Hunters of Artemis is serious on the inside.’ The thought plowed her making her laugh harder.
