‘So we’re in agreement?’ Daphne said seriously, looking around at four of her seven siblings.
‘Definitely,’ Francesca said quickly. ‘I can’t take any more of the pining.’
‘I don’t think it will work,’ Anthony said, predictably, ‘but I will do my best to assist.’
‘It’ll work,’ Benedict said. ‘It has to work.’
They all looked at Eloise, the wildcard in this plan. She sighed loudly. ‘Look. I agree that something has to be done. But do we really want to encourage him? Wouldn’t we be better off finding someone more worthy for her?’
Daphne glared. ‘She loves him, El.’
‘And he loves her,’ Benedict said. ‘Even if he can’t admit it yet.’
Eloise sighed again. ‘Fine, I’m in too.’
Daphne clapped her hands happily, then stuck one out into the middle of the group. ‘Hands,’ she said sternly, and all four siblings echoed Eloise’s earlier sighs, but stuck their hands into the middle of the circle.
‘Bridgertons!’ Daphne cried, and Benedict and Francesca repeated her war cry half-heartedly. Anthony and Eloise, of course, did not.
