Summary
Time is a thing of unknown power. There are races who think they know it, and organizations who claim to control it, but they cannot control that which they do not understand. There are events within time that must happen, that are fixed.
Leonard knew, when he saw Mick shove the boy scout and take his place, that he couldn't let Mick do that. Lenoard knew, without doubt, that he could not lose Mick, and he was pretty convinced that Mick could deal without Leonard. After all, he had for however long he was Chronos. Leonard didn't matter to this team, not anymore.
No strings on ME
When Leonard let go of the Oculus, he expected to die. He welcomed the loss of sensation, the blinding light of an explosion from time itself ripping into his form. He welcomed the darkness encroaching into his vision with open arms. But Time has consequences, vast and unknown.
Leonard certainly never expected to wake up again.
