It started with Adrien's sleep schedule.
As someone with a very rigorous schedule, any changes to it were very noticeable. When he started feeling fatigued most of the day but wide awake most of the night, he was confused but figured he could push through it. When he noticed he got random bursts of energy throughout the day, he was grateful, especially since they usually were either during fencing lessons or Akuma attacks.
When he was tempted to push things off surfaces, climb to higher areas, or jump off those areas, he didn't think much of it.
It was only when he was messing around with his friends and had the urge to jump on them and scratch and bite them that Adrien became concerned.
He did what he usually did when he had problems and decided to ask for help. Not really trusting Nathalie not to go to his father about it, who would immediately blame school or his friends, he turned to Plagg for help.
Plagg said it was normal.
"Most of my holders go through this. You just have cat instincts. Just think of them like you think of growing, a completely natural process."
After that, Adrien started to embrace his instincts more and more. He sunbathed, he perched in high places, he had zoomies from time to time.
It was great.
It wasn't until much later Ladybug told him about her experiences that he found out his instincts came from his bond with Plagg.
And then Adrien could purr.
