Work Text:
Rhett walked into the Hard Deck.
The number of servicemen and women around made him slightly uncomfortable, but Rhett had never been particularly pro-military. He sat down on a barstool and waved the bartender over.
“What can I get for you?” Penny asked.
“Whatever’s on tap,” Rhett told her.
Penny nodded. “Comin’ right up.”
Rhett tipped his hat at her.
Penny set his beer in front of him.
“Thanks, darlin’.” Rhett glanced around the bar until his eyes fell on the Dagger Squad near the back.
“You look a little lost,” a smug voice said.
Rhett turned to the blonde pilot. “Bagman.”
Hangman’s eyebrows furrowed. “Bob?”
Rhett smirked and took a sip of his beer. “Try again.”
Hangman turned to look at the pool table where Bob was standing with his arm around Mantra’s waist.
Rhett stood up and patted Hangman on the back before making his way over to the pool table.
Mantra’s eyes met Rhett’s and he saw the light pink blush on her cheeks. Her eyes trailed down his body from his Stetson to the huge belt buckle (for bull riding) down to his cowboy boots.
Bob followed her eye-line and his eyes widened.
Everyone looked between Rhett and Bob. It was like looking into a mirror.
“Did someone clone Bob?” Fanboy asked.
“Rhett, what are you doing here?” Bob asked.
“What? I can’t come visit my baby brother?”
Bob rolled his eyes. “You’re only older by a few minutes.”
“Okay, someone please explain what’s going on,” Hangman said, rejoining the group.
“Everyone, this is Rhett Abbott, my twin brother.”
Mantra’s mouth dropped open. Oh dear lord, there were two of them now.
“Hold up. Abbott?” Payback asked.
“We were separated at birth and adopted by two different families. Bobby Boy got sent off to Georgia and I went to Wyoming,” Rhett explained.
“Did you always know you had a twin?” Fanboy asked.
Bob shook his head. “I didn’t know until my parent’s died. Found Rhett through social media.”
“I can’t believe you kept something like this from me!” Phoenix said. hitting her backseater on the shoulder.
Bob shrugged. “It never came up.”
“If anyone should be upset, it’s Mantra,” Rooster said.
Mantra had yet to say anything.
Rhett smirked as he took a sip of his beer. He recognized the look in her eyes. It was the same look the Buckle Bunnies gave him after a particular good ride.
“So that video of Bob riding a bull was you?” Mantra asked, a slight pout on her lips.
“I knew it! I knew Bob was too soft to ride a bull!” Hangman exclaimed.
Rhett chuckled. “Aww, now darlin’ don’t be upset with him. It was my idea. See, he mentioned there was this smoking hot female pilot he was flying with…so I took his phone while he was sleeping and posted it.”
Rooster smirked and held up his fist to Rhett who tapped Rooster’s knuckles with his own.
“It did the job didn’t it?”
The revelation that Bob didn’t ride bulls didn’t change Mantra’s mind about her shy pilot. She still thought he was sexy as hell, especially in the air and yelling out instructions.
“Yes it did,” Bob said, kissing her temple.
Rhett fell into conversation with the Dagger Squad, but Mantra’s eyes never left Rhett.
“You want him?” Bob asked Mantra.
She nodded. More than anything.
“Rhett?” she asked.
Her sweet voice and big doe eyes told Rhett everything he needed to know.
“You wanna get a drink?” Rhett asked Mantra, gesturing to the bar with his head.
She nodded and slipped out of Bob’s arms. She followed Rhett to the bar and leaned up against it as they waited for Penny to take their order.
Rhett looked back at Bob who gave him a subtle nod. Rhett stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Mantra’s waist. He heard her sharp intake of breath as she blushed.
Rhett leaned in towards Mantra’s ear. “I heard you ride pretty well.”
Mantra’s blush deepened. “Uh, yeah.”
“How about you ride me tonight?”
Mantra had to bite her lip to keep from moaning. She finally nodded her head.
“C’mon darlin’. Gonna have to say it out loud.”
“Oh god, yes.” She turned to Rhett and he picked her up. Mantra wrapped her arms around his neck and looked down at her boyfriend’s twin. “Hey Cowboy?”
“Yeah?”
“You can keep your boots on if you want.”
Rhett groaned into her neck. “That is the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard a woman say.”
The Dagger Squad watched gob smacked as Rhett walked out of the bar with Mantra in his arms. The scene was eerily similar to the first time Mantra and Bob had gone home with each other.
“You’re just gonna let your twin brother fuck your girl?” Hangman asked.
“What? It’s no different from her sleeping with me. We’re literally the same person.”
“So you’ve shared girls before?” Rooster asked.
Bob just smirked. “I don’t kiss and tell.”
