    “Hey, um, can I ask you something?”

    Luke’s eyes flick towards the studio door. Maybe he should just bolt. Because he’s pretty sure he knows what Alex is about to ask him, and the thought of that sends chills through his body. Luke hasn’t been ready to admit a lot of things, but he’s dropped hints over the years as he’s tried to figure things out, hoping that his friends would pick up on veiled meanings and open some sort of dialogue with him about the fog of confusion that’s been swirling around in his brain. Now it’s here, and Luke realizes that he’s not ready for it.

    Please don’t, he thinks. Please don’t ask me what it’s about.
