Work Text:
“This is Chase Davenport of the Elite Force.
I am recording this with the research and speculations necessary to protect humanity, should any in the Elite Force turn against it.
Worst case in this doomsday scenario, we must have plans in place to take each and every one of us down, should the day come.
EF-0001, Codename: Maelstrom
Connecticut Valentine would by far be the most catastrophic to turn.
Her intangibility coupled with her near invulnerability makes her just about impossible to wound or hinder. Her strength negates restraining. She is a master in combat and incredibly headstrong.
However, the last could be used against her.
Physical means of obstruction include darkness. With her bionics, her eyes will not adjust. Pitch-dark renders her blind.
I also have in the works a serum of diluted coal, mixed with dry ice and isopropyl alcohol as a freezing method. There are needles in my storage room that are strong enough to break bionic skin. This will require further testing. Subsection for those with password: Skylar’s Calderan biology is difficult, yes. But her powers are incomplete at best. Some eradicated entirely. That takes the hopelessness of besting her to something at least.
Continuation: If the mental route is the better option, her numbing sense of justice is an excellent way to defeat her. Use the idea of saving hostages or convincing her that what she is made to do is for the greater good. She will endlessly protect the innocent, so any captive will do.
A warning: whatever is chosen must be applied as soon as possible. The amount of damage she could do in an allotted time is monumental.
EF-0002, Codename: Velocity
Breana Davenport is dangerous. She’s a master combatant, amplified by her speed.
Short-range geoleaping, camouflage, and vocal manipulation add to her abilities of either escape or annihilation. If she were to run through a human, they’d tear in two. She’s almost impossible to hit. We should be thankful she and Valentine are on our side.
The best way to stop her is disrupting the friction she can access. I have many things in progress that could aid. To keep her from geoleaping, distraction is the best option.
Whether it be appealing to the love she has for her family or angering her by questioning her capabilities- which she is insecure about, distracting her for long enough can enable capture. I’ve built some prototypes of restraints she couldn’t speed out of. Will require further testing.
Her mental fortitude can be shaken by appealing to that which she is unsure of. The safety of her brothers, her stance as a hero, her abilities to live up to expectations.
Interrogation will likely have no effect unless those are employed. She is trained to withstand it.
The best method of storage would be a cell where there is no possible way to gain friction of any kind. Or simply suspending her off of the ground.
The last possibility would be removing her chip, though this is unlikely at best.
EF-0003, Codename: Phoenix
Kazimieras Andris is a formidable foe. Strategy is not on his side, but his instincts are inhumanly strong. The fire he can produce will incinerate most anything in one shot, with the right motivation. He can think on his feet and is skilled in combat, balanced with the natural strength he possesses.
The physical ways to him are simple. Subsection for those with password: Kaz and Oliver are only human. They can be worn down. They can be wounded. They can hunger and thirst. Continuation:
A similar chemical that I used for Valentine could be applied. The Davenports have freeze rays in development. Simply putting Andris in a cold environment would take days to weeks to work. Freezing him in a block of ice before he could react is the best option. If not, submersion in water should give the same result.
Non-physical: Andris is a highly emotional individual.
Setting him off or making him lose hope would be debilitating. And dangerous. Taking a hostage he cares for would also suffice.
The best choices of hostage would be Chase Davenport or Oliver Hunslet. Those are the two he is fiercest in protecting, being his partner and childhood friend respectively. The others might be viable as well, including Breana Davenport as option three. Connecticut Valentine will be near impossible to take if she’s not willing, see the earlier file for methods.
Subsection for those with password: Skylar Storm, Tecton, and Megahertz would be extremely hard to capture if they weren’t willing to help. Not recommended you attempt. A better option if no others come to fruition is Horace or Alan Diaz.
Continuation:
Fair word of warning. Attempting to endanger or take a loved one of his has dire consequences. He will not rest until they’re safe. You must prepare for repercussions.
EF-0004, Codename: Spring
Oliver Hunslet is intelligent and quick on his feet. He is an excellent strategist, and his cryokinesis and hydrokinesis are both quite powerful.
However, that power comes with weaknesses.
Physical route: Hunslet is susceptible to extreme temperatures, warmth and cold.
Simply entrap him in a room with either of those elements- currently developing in Davenport Industries.
The freeze ray is applicable as well. Hunslet also can dehydrate. If he uses his abilities long enough, he’ll eventually run out of liquid to produce.
Unfortunately, he’s well aware of these drawbacks and is often prepared to compensate.
Subsection for those with password: I am currently entertaining the idea of reverse-engineering Arcturion samples Horace Diaz provided. It could come in handy against either him and Kaz or anyone powered by it.
Continuation:
For mental: Hunslet is very insecure. In himself and his position in the team. He can freeze up in the heat of the moment, both figuratively and literally. Believes himself to be a coward, the weak link. Playing these insecurities to your advantage is liable.
Subsection for those with password: Bridget Hunslet is an excellent way to bring him down. Mentioning her or comparing the two will at least throw him off. Dig deeply into the barely closed wounds there.
EF-0005, Codename: Cognition
Chase Davenport is the smartest person alive. He is a master martial artist and has a full grasp of his bionics. He has impenetrable shields and molecular kinesis, a force that cannot be shaken unless the user deems it- among other abilities.
The easiest physical defense against him is noise. Frequencies higher than 65,000 Hz will do the trick. Another method like the above is removing his chip entirely. However, as aforementioned, getting close enough to a bionic soldier with their guard up to do that is nearly impossible. With their guard up.
Subsection for those with password: There are heroes at your disposal and machines that will produce that high of a pitch. Continuation:
His mental fortitude is extreme. As his siblings, he has been trained in interrogation and torture survival. Breaking him down is nearly impossible to accomplish.
*deep sigh*
Unless you utilize his earthly tethers. Distracting him from clearly thinking and strategizing is made easier with these:
Breana Davenport, Adam Davenport, Leo Dooley-Davenport, Naomi Davenport, Tasha Davenport, Douglas Davenport, Daniel Davenport, Donald Davenport, Kazmieras Andris, Connecticut Valentine, Oliver Hunslet, Taylor and Logan Krane, and Andrew Jacobs Bustamante are the best options.
Note: Connecticut Valentine unwillingly will be impossible if the earlier methods go awry. Adam and Breana Davenport, if they were used in a manner to harm their brother, would turn immediately on whoever is using them. None of these are recommended. All are difficult to control and have the firepower to back that up. The others could be manageable.
Be warned: you cross the line the second you involve people he cares about.
Proceed with caution.
I hope these will do what they must without the need for fatal options... if that is not the case, I have another recording of ways to permanently remove the threats, should they get too strong.
See File Two for ways to defeat the Davenport Family. File Three for defeating heroes.
They may never forgive me, should they find out about these plans. I only hope in the event that they do, my teammates will understand why they must be in place.”
Chase sighed, ending the recording.
As he went back to his regular tinkering, warm hands closed over his eyes.
“Guess who.”
“Hm,” he tapped his chin. “Not sure. It’s almost like everyone else isn’t here at the tower right now.”
“You’re no fun,” Kaz complained, moving those hands to his shoulders and lightly rocking Chase’s chair back and forth.
“Sorry,” Chase shrugged unapologetically, interlacing both of their hands.
“Whatcha been up to?”
“Boring science stuff. You?”
“Well, I was gonna come down here to hang out. I walked down the stairs. I grabbed water for you. Then I woke up three hours later on the kitchen floor with two cats on me. Who knows what happened there.”
Chase giggled. Kaz smiled dopily at the sound. He set a lukewarm bottle on the table, having involuntarily warmed it up.
Kaz squeezed his shoulder muscles, undoing the tension and knots as he listened to Chase ramble about his current projects.
He eventually cut him off by tilting his chair back almost horizontally, pressing their lips together. Chase wasn’t too alarmed. He trusted Kaz to keep him steady.
They pulled away, hardly apart. Kaz looked at him with an ungodly amount of fondness in Chase’s opinion.
“Hi.”
“Hello.”
“Hey.”
He meshed their lips together once more, stopped by the rock wall to their left raising and exclaims of disgust.
“Jeez,” Bree complained, swishing her smoothie around. Her other hand was held by Skylar, Oliver staggering behind them with a mountain of shopping bags piled in his arms. “Can you guys not suck faces for two seconds?”
Kaz smirked, dipping down to kiss him again.
“It’s on Sparky,” Skylar challenged, kissing Bree as well.
Oliver set the bags down with a hefty sigh, glancing up to see horror itself.
He shrieked. “Literally what have I done to the universe to deserve this punishment?”
The rest laughed.
“Anyone want takeout?” Skylar asked, putting her arm around Bree.
“Chinese.”
“Mexican.”
“Chinese.”
“Mexican.”
“If you two keep going at it, I’ll relegate you to salad only.”
Kaz and Oliver gasped, turning to Chase in horror.
“That’s what I thought.”
Bree and Skylar snickered.
Chase felt his sister go behind him and start messing with his hair.
“Should we do a movie or games tonight?”
“Movie.”
“Wow,” Skylar looked at Kaz, eyes wide. “We agree on something for once.”
“Ew,” he shuddered, still holding one of Chase’s shoulders. “I hate it.”
“Same.”
“Alright, alright, go away,” Chase waved. “I’ll order the food. You four can go kill each other over which movie upstairs.”
They gave him suspicious stares.
“I’ll get more than salad, bionic honor.”
Stares proceeded.
“And steamed vegetables. Go.”
“Sir, yessir,” Bree mock-saluted, bapping the back of his head lightly. “And thank you so much for volunteering to carry all of our bags upstairs, you’re a gem bro.”
Chase exaggeratedly rolled his eyes at her.
Kaz kissed him, following Bree to the hyperlift and bickering with her the whole way over what to watch.
Skylar shrugged, throwing her arm around Oliver. She ruffled Chase’s hair on their way out.
Chase sighed, pulling up the recording file. It was necessary. He closed down his computer, dialing the number for their favorite Indian spot.
