Work Text:
Oda always got the messy jobs. It was part of his job, as a grunt who cleaned up after the main group slaughtered everyone. More often than not, he’d be hiding or burying bodies. Most of said bodies were covered in blood, which got smeared all over him.
Coming home this particular day, Oda had grime caked into his hair and clothes. It was likely that his shirt would be forever stained in the blood and dirt from his job. Ango looked up from where he was doing paperwork at the desk they had in the living room.
“Oda, you desperately need a bath or shower, honestly. Whatever gets that dirt? Or is it blood? Anyway, as long as you get cleaned off we can cuddle afterwards,” Ango returned his gaze to his paperwork, about to continue.
“Come with me?” Oda sounded like he was asking, over sounding forceful.
Glancing up again, he saw that Oda was waiting for an answer, “Go get in the bathroom and run a bath, I’ll be there in a couple of minutes.”
A nod was his only response, as Oda made his way to the bathroom. The sound of water running, able to be heard a minute later. Ango was just finishing up the paper he was on, knowing he could come back to the rest the next day.
Meanwhile, Oda was shedding his clothes. It was harder than it should be, as some were still wet with blood. When dropped onto the floor, the dirt and blood got on the tiles. Sighing, Oda stepped into the bath that was still filling. The warm water was welcoming, and upon sitting, he relaxed.
He leaned back, getting his hair wet, thinking about cleaning the grime out. But, Oda knew Ango would come in soon, and would likely tell him he’s getting the water all dirty. Then he wouldn’t be able to have a bath with him because he’d refuse to get in.
So, Oda just sat there, his hair still full of gunk from the day. Watching the door, when the sound of approaching footsteps finally were heard. Ango peaked into the bathroom a moment later, a change of clothes for both of them in his arms.
“Your hair is still all gross,” Ango complained, putting the clothes down.
“It’ll make the water dirty, so I’ll wash it last,” Oda explained, watching as Ango threw his clothes down beside Oda’s dirty clothes.
Sighing, he walked over to the tub, and stepped in, “You need to clean it sooner rather than later. It’s just going to get harder to wash out the longer you wait.”
Leaning forward, Oda looked at his strands of hair that fell forward, “I guess, my hair does have a lot of filth in it.”
“Just let me do it,” Ango grabbed the shampoo and poured some on Oda’s hair.
“Okay,” he sat still as his husband lathered it into his hair.
There was some scrubbing when Ango found some grime caked into Oda’s hair. Occasionally cupping some water in his hands to rinse out the loose gunk. It ended up taking several minutes just to get out the stuff that was loose. Ango had to get up and grab a comb to get the stuff that had solidified in Oda’s hair out.
The bath water ended up turning a mucky brown, with hints of red as Ango got the last of the grime out. Pulling the plug out to get the water out of the tub as soon as Oda’s hair stopped leaking dirt when he poured water over it. Pleased that he was dirt free, Ango moved the soggy hair out of his face, and gave Oda a quick kiss.
“We can refill the tub, and have a bath, or we can quickly rinse off with the shower, and go cuddle in bed,” Ango offered the two opinions, allowing Oda to choose.
“Bath, I feel like relaxing in some warm water first,” Oda pressed his forehead to Ango’s, getting water on his face.
With a slow movement, he leaned forward and connected their lips again. The water in the tub hadn’t fully gone down the drain, and Ango wasn’t going to waste a chance to kiss Oda. He loved his husband, but they only ever saw each other in the evenings, and usually just went to bed together.
Their kiss was short, and very sweet, lips moving together for several seconds before parting. The water had all drained away, so Ango turned the tap back on and rinsed the remaining dirt away, before putting the plug back to let the tub fill again. Warm water splashing against their skin as Oda kissed Ango again.
“I wish I never had to stop kissing you,” Oda mumbled between kisses, making Ango flustered.
“Shut up and kiss me more,” Ango didn’t want to give him a chance to make him blush, which happened too often.
They kept kissing until the water had to be turned off. Ango slipping closer to Oda to wrap his arms around him, and pepper kisses along his collarbone. While he did that, he could feel Oda kiss his on the head, and hold him close. It felt so intimate, in a way they hadn’t had a chance to be in too long. Both of them missed the feeling, and longed for more.
With a happy sigh, Ango relaxed against Oda, just holding him, and enjoying his presence. There was no need to do anything else, but be close to each other. Eventually, they’d have to get up, and rinse off in the shower in case any grime from the bath water got on them. But until then, they’d enjoy the moment.
Oda resting his head on Ango’s, and looking fondly at his husband, glad he married him. For both of them, there was no one else that they’d rather spend their lives with. There wasn’t anyone else they could feel so happy just being beside, with no need for words or actions.
