“Alex, why are we suddenly on a plane?” Morgan asked, trying very hard to stay calm.
“You said you wanted to catch a flight,” Alex said with an innocent expression.
“This isn’t what I meant,” Morgan said through gritted teeth.
“What? We’re on a plane.” Alex said, with an even less convincing innocent expression.
“The plane is mid-flight,” Morgan said, starting to lose the grip on their calmness.
“You didn’t specify, it’s not my fault,” Alex said.
“Hi! Sorry, I must have missed you onboarding! Thank you for flying MJN Airways, my name is Arthur, and I’ll be your steward today.” Suddenly a very cheerful, smiling British man was standing in front of them.
Morgan blinked, and looked around. They were the only passengers on this flight, and Morgan wasn’t sure if this man was being serious. “Um..”
Alex just sat down in the nearest seat and pulled out their ear buds, reclined their seat, and put their arms behind their head.
“Honestly, I didn’t realize we had passengers today, I thought this was just a cargo flight. Normally Mum comes along on passenger flights. Well, I say usually, she always does. Except for Birling Day. She trusts me on my own for that. Except she did come on the flight that time we went to Timbuktu, because Mr. Birling wanted to go watch the rugby match there to spite his wife, but it wasn’t really Timbuktu, it was actually Sardinia, since Timbuktu was in the middle of a civil war and we couldn’t fly there. But we couldn’t tell Mr. Birling that, though he did find out.” The man nodded.
Morgan blinked. Did this man really accept two passengers suddenly showing up mid flight? What was this airline? Also, that was a lot of information that didn’t say anything.
Bing Bong! A bell went off over in what Morgan can assume was the galley. “Oh! Be right back!” Arthur scurried off towards the galley.
Morgan sighed and just sat down in the seat next to Alex. They were already here, nothing they can do right now than to just sit and relax as much as they could. Morgan was closing their eyes when suddenly someone yelled from the front of the plane.
“WHAT?! No, Arthur, people don’t just appear on planes mid-flight!” A door, which Morgan can only assume was the cockpit door, slammed open, and this fairly small man who Morgan assumed to be the captain due to the huge hat with so much gold braid on his head, came out of the galley, “Who are you? How did you get on this flight?”
“Uh…Alex, you want to take this one?” Morgan prodded Alex with their elbow.
Alex snorted as they woke up, “What?” The blinked and saw the captain standing there. “Oh, yeah, we needed to catch a flight to Nagpur, India, because Morgan wanted to check out the ancient caves there, and you guys were the only ones flying there today, so we caught this flight.” Alex explained, then closed their eyes again to fall back asleep.
“B-but, y-you can’t just get on a plane mid-flight!” The captain sputtered.
“Apparently, we can,” Alex said with their eyes closed.
“If it helps, Skip, I may have missed them onboarding,” Arthur said from behind the captain.
“No, it doesn’t Arthur, mainly due to the fact this flight wasn’t scheduled for any passengers. I didn’t do the weights with passengers in mind! This is against all policy and regulations!” The Captain said distressingly. “Douglas! Did you have anything to do with this!” The captain yelled back to the cockpit.
Bing Bong! “No, Martin, I did not,” A voice from the announcements said, “I don’t think even I can pull off people appearing out of nowhere mid-flight.”
“You could have hid them in the back somewhere!” Martin yelled.
There was a pause, then Bing Bong! “Please look around the plane, then back at our mystery passengers, and tell me where I could have possibly hidden them.”
“How do you even know what they look like?” Martin yelled back.
Bing Bong! “I don’t. I do, however, know what GERTI looks like, due to the numerous times I’ve had to do walk-arounds and cabin checks over the 10 years I’ve flown her, and know that there is no place for them to be completely hidden for any amount of flight time. So, perhaps ask if they used any sort of superpowers to get on board mid-flight.”
Martin blinked, then turned to Alex and Morgan again, “So,” He started in a high pitched nervous voice and cleared his throat, “H-h-how, did you two get on board mid-flight?”
Alex, without opening their eyes, “I used my powers to teleport us here.”
Martin looked at Morgan, who shrugged and nodded with a small smile.
“There’s nothing in the manuals to say what to do in this situation.” Martin rambled with a head on his forehead.
Bing Bong! “Martin,” The overhead voice came on again, “We have plenty of fuel to get there, and we are not over the landing weights in Nagpur, so get back up here and fly the plane…Captain.”
“Um..right. Right.” Martin then went back into the galley. When he sat back next to Douglas he said, “We’re not telling Carolyn about this, are we?”
“Well, in order for that to work, you’d have to get Arthur to forget that two passengers appeared mid-flight.” Douglas said, “Good luck with that.”
“Do you think she’ll be mad?” Martin asked.
“Well, seeing how her airplane flew two passengers for free...yes, yes I do.”
Suddenly a few large bundles of cash in a small bag appeared next to them with a note, “Here. I’d say sorry for the inconvenience, but I’m really not. - A”
“On the other hand,” Douglas said with a bundle of cash in his hand, “Maybe we can convince Arthur nothing happened.”
