Leveling Up Cultivation

Summary:

S-class hunter, Wei Ying of the modern world, should've known that something was terribly wrong when the B-rank dungeon he was solo-clearing was larger and harder than it was supposed to be. The wrongness of the whole situation became even clearer when the moment he defeated the last boss, he wasn't spat back out of the dungeon but instead transmigrated into the small body of the cultivation world's Wei Ying who's currently a five year old child orphaned in the streets of Yiling.

Fortunately, Wei Ying still had access to the system and his past life's inventory. However-

"Level 1? Level 1?! What the fuck-"

"My precious magic skills are invalid?! What the hell-"

"What the fuck is SE (spiritual energy) supposed to be?! I can't use my mana recovery potions anymore!!! Are you shitting-"

Notes:

Note: This fic takes inspiration takes inspiration and concepts from all sorts of dungeon manhwas (is that what you call them?) like Solo Leveling, The S-Classes That I Raised, Dungeon Reset, The Hero Returns etc. since this author has been reading all sorts of those things lately and somehow their braincell conjured up an MDZS fic to go with it.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Chapter 1

Wei Ying looked at his dirty little hands then to the rabid dogs who were barking at him down below from the tree branch he had perched unto and disdainfully wondered 'just what the hell did he do to end up here in the middle of fucking nowhere.'

It had been a normal day in the convenient modern world when the Hunter Association called him. They wanted him to solo clear a B-rank dungeon that was on the verge of an outbreak. Apparently, it had suddenly appeared like any other dungeon portal but a few minutes later, the surveyors picked up an erratic mana fluctuation from it which was a clear sign of an impending outbreak. It needed to be cleared fast or the monsters would get out and create another tragedy right in the middle of the city. As a S-class hunter, solo-clearing a B-rank dungeon for Wei Ying was a walk in the park so after the Hunter Association added a 80:20 reward split in his favor, he accepted. The association was desperate it seemed. Wei Ying assumed it was the lack of manpower and the recent increase of dungeon portals appearing all over the country.

Wei Ying headed for the dungeon interrupting his long-awaited vacation with his parents. He planned on clearing it as quickly as possible and catching up with his parents after. Nothing seemed wrong till he entered the dungeon and noted the 'weirdness'. Most of the monsters he killed were identified as different kinds of 'spiritual beasts' and the items he found there were unlike the things he found in the other dungeons he cleared before. Instead of magic books, it had scrolls about martial arts, eastern alchemy and something about cultivation (of what? he didn't know). Instead of potions, there were pills. Instead of magic plants, there were spiritual herbs. It was a very strange dungeon to say the least.

However, that was just the tip of the iceberg. After a while, he discovered that he couldn't naturally recover his mana. His mana recovery skill was a passive skill that absorbed the mana around him and fed it unto his body automatically replenishing his MP bar as time went by. But it wasn't happening in this dungeon for some reason. Dungeons were usually full of mana so his recovery should be fast but it seemed like this dungeon didn't have a drop of mana in it and was instead filled with something else. Wei Ying had no choice but to rely on his personal supply of MP recovery potions in his inventory.all the way to the boss fight.

By the time Wei Ying got to the boss, it became very clear that this dungeon was misranked. The dungeon was larger and more difficult than it was supposed to be. Still, Wei Ying had no choice but to beat the boss to get out so despite the misinformation (intentional or unintentional) Wei Ying still had to dutifully clear the dungeon. After a difficult boss battle against the longest dragon Wei Ying had ever seen, he cleared the dungeon and was given the clear rewards. Then after... after that he woke up in a not so modern world as a dirty little street child.

It was ridiculous. Too ridiculous that he ended up screaming in the random alleyway he was in attracting the attention of a few rabid dogs in the area. The dogs stalked towards him like a predator locked on its prey so Wei Ying instinctively tried to use one of his magic skills to repel them. Absolutely nothing happened. No matter what he did, no matter what spell he used, nothing happened. As the situation became even more desperate, like a cornered animal, Wei Ying had a burst of adrenaline and he ran. The dogs unhesitatingly chased after him all over the town. As if blind, the townspeople never gave a helping hand even when Wei Ying desperately asked for it. He ended up being chased towards the nearby forest. Spotting a sturdy tree, he climbed up and then there he was, current situation and all.

The barking down below continued. It made Wei Ying's head hurt. Pissed, Wei Ying exclaimed, "Shut up!"

The dogs weren't deterred and they continued barking. Wei Ying got even more pissed. But he wasn't just pissed at the noisy dogs. Oh no. He was quite pissed at everything. He was pissed at the Hunter Association. He was pissed at the damn dungeon. He was pissed at the whole situation. Unbeknownst to Wei Ying, a mysterious power inside him was bubbling together with his rage. Leaking out killing intent fueled by rage, Wei Ying once again exclaimed, "Shut up!"

The dogs down below suddenly felt a heavy pressure that forced them down on their knees. They yelped and felt the dense killing intent directed towards them. Cowed, the rabid dogs ran away like a demon was at their heels. Meanwhile, Wei Ying heard a familiar 'ding!'.

[Skill 'Killing Intent' created.]

[Skill 'Spiritual Pressure' created.]

Surprised, Wei Ying looked at the holographic screen notifications. He wasn't new to these notifications. When he awakened his abilities as a hunter, he was able to access the so-called 'system'. He just never thought that he'd still have access to it even after transmigrating in this strange world especially when his magic skills failed to manifest earlier. Frowning, Wei Ying opened his status screen.

Wei Ying (Wei Wuxian)

Level: 1

HP: 70/100

SE: 80/150

Stats

Strength: 5

Vitality: 10

Agility: 14

Intelligence: 15

Sense: 9

Skills:

Killing Intent Lv 1

Spiritual Pressure Lv 1

Wei Ying looked at the screen dumbfounded. Level 1? Level 1?! Level fucking 1?!!! Excuse the poetry but what the fuck. What the hell happened to his levels? From a level 300+ S-class hunter to a fucking level 1? Then his stats. What the hell. His precious stats. The precious stats he earned with his blood, sweat and tears. Gone. All gone. And his skills. Oh no, his skills. Where the fuck are they? What the fuck happened to the hundreds of skills he purchased, hunted down and diligently earned? Where? Where? And what the hell was even SE supposed to be?!!

This time the system actually had mercy and answered with a single rectangular holographic screen that said [Spiritual Energy]. That's all. That's it. Nada.

What the fuck was 'spiritual energy' supposed to be?

The system played dead.

Wei Ying's eyebrows twitched. Fucking system. Pissed but still rational, Wei Ying tried to recall what spiritual energy might be from the depths of his brain. Wasn't that some kind of power system in those novels? Xi, xiansi, xianxi, xianxia novels. Yeah, xianxia  novels. Those novels with flying swords and cultivation and stuff. Wow. It was really good to know. Really good. Good. Ahahaha...

SO HE FUCKING TRANSMIGRATED INTO SOME KIND OF SHITTY ANCIENT XIANXIA WORLD?!!

Wei Ying, courtesy name Wei Wuxian, previously handsome and reputable 21 year old S-class Hunter of the modern world, recently transmigrated into 5 year old stinky street pipsqueak Wei Ying, courtesy name, Wei Wuxian, of the shitty cultivation world was having a meltdown, your honor.
