Work Text:
The black haired girl absentmindedly prepared her bed as a lone thought permeated and busied her brain. 'Why did I do that?' She wondered, once again looking back at her actions the previous night. 'It's her mistake for falling asleep at her desk, why should I take care of her?' She huffed, running a hand through her short hair in puzzled frustration.
A knock at her bedroom door snapped her out of self questioning and directed her attention at whoever it might be that came to visit her at such a late hour.
"Come in. It's unlocked." She called out, watching as the knob slowly turned and the door opened just enough for a hesitant Coco to peek through. "Oh, it's you." An odd feeling formed in the pit of her stomach at the sight of her roommate. "Do you need anything?"
"I just came to return this." Coco carefully stepped into the foreign space holding a familiar blanket in her arms. "Thank you for looking out for me yesterday." She continued with a warm smile that always made Agott’s face gain a strange heat.
“Ah.” Purple eyes found themselves gazing at the piece of fabric being handed out and deliberately avoiding the other girl’s face. “Why do you think it’s mine?”
“Hm? It has your perfume.” Coco said matter-of-factly, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Huh?” With her mouth agape, the young Arkrome stared at her trying to figure out if the given answer was some sort of joke.
“What? Did I say something wrong?”
“No, I just wasn’t expecting that.” Agott took the blanket and started scratching the back of her head nervously. “How did you get to know that anyway?”
“I noticed it when you told me why the water splashed you. I am very sorry about that.” Lowering her head, she clasped her hands in front of her. Yellowish green hair cascaded down to hide her face.
Agott felt the guilt build up at the memory of that time. She had said awful things and even sent her, an inexperienced and frightened girl, into dangerous terrain expecting her to fail. Then acted so arrogant even when Coco had come back having finished the task successfully.
“It’s getting late. We should head to bed.” The words came out abrupt and hasted as she turned her back to her friend.
“Oh! Right!” The golden-eyed girl chirped, quickly turning around to leave. “Goodnight, Agott!”
“Goodnight, Coco.” The reply came too late as the addressed girl had already left the room, closing the door behind her.
‘How do you remember your mistake but not my cruelty?’
The black haired girl pondered as she clutched the blanket closer to her chest, burying her face into it. “And how did your scent cling to this after only one night?” Agott felt her face getting hotter as she inhaled into the fabric, entertaining the image of Coco being the one in her arms instead.
