Work Text:
Lately, Alban has been so busy.
Meetings with the staff, recordings for future voice packs, more meetings, checking potential games for future streams, and planning out future activities. He had quite a bit on his plate lately, meaning he didn't have much time to stream either.
On top of that, he was secretly trying to do some vocal lessons, to try and improve his singing.
It was no secret Alban wasn't very confident in his singing prowess. After his first and only Karaoke stream, he tried to shy away from it. He always knew singing was no talent of his, even though his Takaradachi and EN coworkers would say otherwise.
There were several bumps along the way (take the 3D live concert that they were all looking forward to but were indefinitely pushed back) but lately, he decided he wanted to try again.
He wanted to give back to his Takaradachi and the others who supported him and believed in his singing.
So he had been secretly having some singing lessons in order to prepare for when the 'go ahead' from the higher-ups came in.
Although he had yet to feel any 'proper improvement' for himself
"Alright, that should be good for today's agenda," Alban's manager said from the discord call. "Don't forget you should be getting a script ready for the next voice pack. Do you need any help?"
The brunette shook his head "I got it. The last pack's review is good, right?"
The man hummed his approval. "Definitely. Good job on working on that. But like before, I need to read it first before the recording to check"
"Okay, no problem. I'll start working on it, staff-san"
"Good, good. That's it for me. Anything else?"
Alban shook his head. "Nothing on my end, thanks staff-san"
With that, they said their respective goodbyes and Alban had to let out a little sigh, stretching from his seat.
It had been quite a tiring day. He wanted nothing more than to crash into bed and sleep until his next stream time. But…he couldn't sleep.
Not yet.
'Does he have a stream today?'
He finds himself fiddling with his phone, checking the list of people doing live at the time. He didn't find him streaming
'Should I message him to say I probably won't be able to practice today?'
He should, but that meant he wouldn't be able to spend time with him…and that suddenly made him feel so sad.
For the past few months, they have been hanging around so much in discord it felt so weird not talking to him before he goes to sleep. He was the one helping him prepare his voice too…
I should still message him, right?
That should be the right thing to do.
He was just about to type in a message when a call went through. Alban's face lit up at the name he saw on the screen.
He instantly answered "Suha!"
"Hey" the calm, soothing voice on the other line belonged to none other than Suha Min, who had been teaching and spending time with Alban, "you're still awake" he sounded a mix of relief and slightly worried "I thought you were still working."
They usually practice and talk every day, but Alban had been too busy with meetings after meetings today he didn't get the chance to inform Suha (that, and he wanted to hear his voice still)
"I just got off with Staff-san really. I was just about to send a message. Sorry about that"
"It's okay" Alban sighed at the gentleness in his voice. He could literally just listen to him all day. "You should rest for today and just practice tomorrow"
He resisted the urge to whine "I'm still okay though"
Suha chuckled from the other side. A rich, melodious tone that made his heart beat a little faster "I can hear the yawn in your voice, Alban… you are tired and should definitely rest for now"
"But…" I want to hear your voice more…
"Should I sing something then, to help you sleep?" The man teased, but at the same time, he sounded a little shy at his own suggestion
"That…I'd like that. Definitely" Alban replied at once.
"Okay" Suha sounded relieved, happy. It was making Alban smile widely back. He was definitely happy this wasn't a video call right now.
His face would probably be a giveaway too
"Alban?"
"Yeah?"
"Go ahead and lie down, okay? You're not gonna sleep sitting up, are you?" Suha was teasing him again, but by this time Alban was used to the man's good-natured jokes. He probably wanted him to relax on his bed while he sings for him.
Alban huffed but relaxed on his bed. He made sure to plug his earphones properly so he could listen to Suha properly.
"Ready?"
"!!" He almost choked as Suha's voice seemed to be lower, and closer, like he was leaning in closer to his speaker. "Uh, yeah…"
Did Suha really expect him to sleep with his voice sounding that low and close?!
After a while, the sound of Suha humming the intro to a song filled Alban's ears. He couldn't remember the song, but he knew he heard it from Suha before.
On nights when the moon is this blue
Strange things happen
I wander somewhere
In a deep forest
It was a Japanese song. Suha's rich, wonderful singing voice filled his ears, warming his heart and even though his heart still beat loud enough to make him worry Suha would hear it from the line, it definitely calmed his nerves
A rabbit in a tuxedo comes
He leads me to a table and offers me wine
Underneath the scarlet umbrella of a mushroom
The dance begins
The image of a Suha in a tuxedo with rabbit ears crossed his mind and he chuckled inwardly. He thought Suha would be quite the dashing rabbit…
What do you long for? The labyrinth of temptation
Beyond the milk-colored fog
I want a reliable love
Love… Alban always wondered what it was he felt for the brown-haired man. He figured out months ago that he may have had a small crush on Suha.
Okay, maybe not just small…
But Suha was always kind and gentle to everyone…
He probably wasn't really that special to him, and Suha liked him just as a friend…
I wrap my cold fingers
In the feathers of a swan
The Prince of Chandra Mahal (the Palace of the Moon)
Laughs with eyes that remind me of yours
A small, dark emotion flares inside him but Alban quickly extinguished it. He was fine with their current situation.
He likes hanging out with Suha like this. And the man loved spending time with him too.
Yeah. That was enough.
He was falling asleep. He wanted to say goodnight to Suha.
But he didn't want to stop listening to him sing…
He wanted to listen to the whole song too… like something in it was important…
Suha probably felt that again, as he chuckled softly "Rest now, Alban. I'll be here"
Alban pouted in his mind, unwilling. But the lull of Suha's voice was stronger and he was soon falling asleep.
Suha smiled as he listened to Alban's deep, rhythmic breathing. Small, telltale indications that he had indeed fallen asleep
On nights when the moon is this blue
Strange things happen
To love is to trust
I dreamed that someday
I could sleep in your arms
"Goodnight, Alban~"
I like you
(
I love you)
