Suha Min didn't really plan something too special for his birthday this year. Although he did plan a pre-birthday karaoke and birthday countdown for his Suhaquas. On twitter, he recently made a cute art challenge as well. He chuckled and looked forward to how everyone would finish the drawing he started.
He made sure to schedule a stream for the actual day of his birthday too, to be able to thank everyone who is the reason why he is still here today.
It had been quite the journey, really.
Looking back, there were a lot of times he thought of giving up and just leaving, but now, he's glad he managed to hold on, and lately, found more reasons to stay.
Then, his phone lit up and a name showed up on his screen.
Alban…
Suha found himself smiling. Over these past couple of months, he had grown very close to the brunette thief from Noctyx, even spending time together on their Japan trip, and sharing the same room and bed. Even though it was their first time meeting, there was no awkwardness at all. Alban's positive energy made him feel like they've known each other since forever. He enjoyed the whole time they were together (even though most of that includes drinking in all the Izakaya in the area). He didn't even know when he started to become fond of Alban, but thinking about the other made him feel…warm and fuzzy inside.
Alban sent him a voice message.
Hey Suha! It's almost your birthday! Are you excited? Looking forward to your day! Advance Happy Birthday!
His tone was always bright and full of energy. He was like that in real life too. He could imagine his brilliant smile while recording the message and found himself replying at once.
"Hey Alban!" He tried not to sound too excited "Thank you, I am excited. I have a Karaoke and a totsumachi scheduled too" You'll be coming, won't you? He wanted to ask, but held himself. He didn't want to pressure Alban, he knew the brunette had a lot of work lined up lately. He had his own Karaoke later this week, and he recently recorded his Sakura Bloom voice pack too. (Suha had the honor to hear it first when Alban was trying to come up with his script).
He hit send and wondered if Alban would immediately see it. He figured he had to be working by now. His heart skipped a small beat when Alban instantly replied.
Cool! That sounds like a great day scheduled. See you, Suha!! 😺
He grinned at the cat emoji, but more than that, he felt his smile getting wider as he read the reply.
He hoped Alban would have time to come to his totsumachi. While he could never do it like Alban and do some aegyo to ask him to come (he wanted to, so much) but he really really hoped he would be able to. He missed him.
On the days of his scheduled stuff though, Suha couldn't find Alban. He wasn't in discord or had left him any message.
Ah, he must be busy then. Alban did say he had quite the stuff lined up lately…( He was telling Suha excitedly about it the other day, he chuckled at how cute and excited Alban sounded over work) Oh well, I'm sure I can talk to him when he gets back…
Still, he couldn't deny the sadness that filled a portion of his heart.
The karaoke was fun, and Suha found himself enjoying it immensely. His suhaquas were really the best when it comes to supporting him even though he was still a little nervous every time he did a karaoke stream. He was able to sing almost all of his prepared songs. His throat was shot by the end, but he had no regrets.
When he ended the stream, it was already the day of his birthday, so messages from his family and coworkers started pouring in.
Suha smiled as he checked all of them. Making sure to reply to his immediate family at least.
Still, his heart yearned for a message from a certain brunette he wished he could see again…
When Alban's notification sound went through. Suha almost jumped in anticipation. He was almost embarrassed at how he acted like a lovesick teenager, but decided checking Alban's message was more important
Suha!! It's your birthday now!! Happy Birthday! Have a great day okay? I'll probably be outside during your totsu, but I'll talk to you soon, okay?! He treasured the way Alban still sent him a message despite obviously being busy. He looked forward to talking to him later too.
One of the main highlights of his birthday stream was checking out the works of his suhaquas who participated in his birthday challenge. He actually checked some of them earlier and he was blown away by everyone's awesome artwork and silly continuation of his sketch. He discussed some of them with his chat, along with the open totsu he planned. Time flew by so fast, and even though he was close to crying every few times he received a touching message, he held it in and made sure to keep a light mood for all. His heart warmed with everyone's well wishes and kind words.
As he scrolled through the tags, he saw one particular fanart in his birthday artwork challenge and knew he had to save that one.
It was a fanart of him holding a small catboy Alban inside a box. He smiled.
This is really cute, I definitely have to show this to Alban later…
Ah, I miss him…I hope he finishes his work soon.
Nagi would often tease him and Alban about their not-so-subtle affection for each other, both instream and offstream, and on more than one occasion she was insistent on asking when he would actually confess and make it official.
Suha blushed at that, he entertained the thought of course, (he had come to terms with it by the time he got back to South Korea) but he didn't want to do it over some WiFi connection, he wanted to tell Alban how he felt when they were in the same space. He felt it was…more romantic that way. He knew Alban felt something for him too, and he wanted to be the first to reach out.
He actually asked his manager if he could take some time off and somehow find a way to travel to America to surprise him.
He hasn't heard back though, so he made a mental note to follow up with him later.
Then, his musings were suddenly interrupted by the sound of his doorbell. Good thing he was no longer streaming at this time, but he wasn't expecting anyone to come over, nor did he order anything.
Suha opened his door to find a small box outside, but there was no one there. He frowns, looking around to see who could have left it there "Hello?"
No answer.
He knew his location was safe, so whoever left this, it had to be either his family, or someone who knew him. Maybe it was a gift from the company too. Cautiously he looked over the box before picking it up. At the same time, a note fell from the underside
Open me ^__^
Slowly, Suha did open the box, curious what was inside
"!!!" He found an Alban finger puppet inside it. "An…Alban pappe?" Confused, he picked up the item
There was another note on the back of the puppet.
"Happy Birthday, Suha! This Alban puppet came in as your gift. I hope you like it!"
There was no name on it though, so Suha had no idea who gave the puppet. He turned the card
"P.s. Turn around. In 3, 2, 1…."
The way the note was written was so familiar. He knew that post script handwriting… but that was impossible. He couldn't be…
Min Suha suddenly couldn't move. His heart hammered against his chest. Could it really be??
Then there was a voice right next to his ear "Aww, come on, how can I tackle and hug you if you don't follow my instructions to turn around?"
That high-pitched, amused sounding voice. Suha couldn't help but literally gasp in surprise, instantly having the strength to swing his body around
His eyes widened in disbelief at the sight before him…
It really was…
"A-Alban…?"
Noctyx's phantom thief stood right in front of him, smiling triumphantly. Though he looked really confident, there was a look in his eyes that revealed that he was a little shy about suddenly showing up. Suha gaped at him
"Alban…"
The lack of movement from Suha probably worried the other male "Uhm, yeah?"
"Pinch me right now"
"Huh? What? Why?" Alban titled his head, confused.
He looked adorable . "I need to be sure you're really here and I'm not dreaming…"
With that, Alban laughed. He wasted no time in tackling Suha in a hug. The taller brunette welcomed the feeling of having the other male in his arms. "Silly. I'm really here…" he whispered affectionately.
Alban was here, really here. With him.
And with his mind short circuiting with overwhelming emotions, he did the very first thing his subconscious told him to do.
He kissed Alban.
It was a light kiss, merely a brush of their lips together, but to Suha, it was so much more.
Especially because Alban looked like he wanted more…
"Alban…" he didn't even care that they were still out here in the open. Hopefully his neighbors weren't home
"That's not fair…" Alban whispered
"Not fair?"
The younger male blushed slightly. His beautiful mismatched eyes teasing him. "You've already stolen the gift I was supposed to give you"
Suha chuckled, his Alban would always be like this after all. He pulled him closer, to his slight surprise.
"Okay then"
"Okay?"
"I'm sure there are ways I can make it up to you, right?"
Alban smiled back "I can think of a few…Happy Birthday, Suha"
Suha couldn't be happier.
The birthday he thought would be his simplest one…turned out to be the best birthday ever.
