Chapter 1: Once upon a time...

Chapter Text

When Jean first met 'Blondie' he'd thought the boy was cute. Cute didn't mean anything through, after all, working in a cafe on campus meant that Jean saw a lot of cute people every day. Cute didn't catch Jean's attention.

Blondie was short, like really short and past the age for a good growth spurt to kick in. His hair was, as the nickname suggested, blonde. It was also long enough to reach his chin in a way that was almost girlish. He was dressed fine. A blue jumper with a collared tshirt and some jeans. Cute but nothing special. So aside a second glance that Jean allowed himself to all the really cute customers, Blondie shouldn't have kept his attention.

No what really made him start to wander was when Jean asked for a name to go with the Caramel Latte he'd ordered. Everyone gave thier name. It was just the rules of the environment. At a coffee shop, you give your name to the barista. Makes everyone's life easier. Not Blondie though. No, he took a second to think before responding with a shrug and a casual.

"You can pick a name for me."

Like that was normal.

Jean had laughed, it was certainly interesting. So Jean wrote 'Blondie' on the cup and Blondie had collected it with little more than a smile.

The next time Blondie walked in, a couple of days later, Jean stood up a little straighter. He wanted a name now. Because no one hides their name from thier barista.

This time Blondie wore a black sweater vest over his white button up. Again, cute, borderline dorky, but cute.

"Do I get a name this time, Blondie?" But, again, Blondie smiled, the cutest little smile.

"You can pick one, or we can go with Blondie again?"

Jean wrote "Mysterio" on the cup.

The third time, Jean was just going to ask what the deal was. It was driving him crazy to not have a name. He'd started actively thinking about names that would suit his Mystery man.

He didn't look like a Shaun or a Bradley. He couldn't be a Samuel or a Ronald, right? Nothing seemed to fit. The more he thought about the short blonde's name, the more time he spent thinking about his face, his voice and the long blonde hair that had earned him the nickname. Maybe Blondie was more than cute, he was downright pretty.

"Hey, Blondie, what name is it today?" Jean teased when he approached the counter.

"You always pick, so I guess that's up to you." He'd responded smugly, pulling out some cash for his drink.

"I'll give you the coffee free if I can have your name." Jean offered with that charming smile he often used to get his own way. It had always worked with his ex, Marco. Blondie didn't seem fazed though, lacing the money on the counter anyway.

"How about you guess? If you get it right, you win."

"What do I win?" He teased back, he didn't expected this to go so far. Jean has expected Blondie to give in, give a name. Even a fake one to make him shut up. But the shirt boy was holding his ground way better than his taller counterpart.

"What do you want to win?"

"A date, with you."

Blondie looked shocked at that. Maybe he was expecting to pay for a coffee or something because the way his cheeks burned red betrayed his embarrassment.

"Fine, if you ever get it right. I'll go on a date with you."

"When. When I get it right, Blondie." Jean winked, taking joy in the way his blush travelled down his neck.

That day Jean guessed 'Daniel'. He was wrong but he'd been expecting that.

Let the games begin.
