I couldn't sleep much after saying goodbye a last time to my old Family-
Dondozo, Ajax, Url, so many names lost, so many faces Erased!
I spent a lot of time once before with my head in the clouds and now here it was again, looking up at the blanket of stars overhead, looking at the light that burned so far away.
Mama had always told me to look to the stars for guidance. That they'd always be there to guide me-
How SHE would too-
"Nissy?" I hear and brush my good eyes with the back of my upper left hand.
I'd been starting to cry!
"Tony? You alright? Why are you still up?" I ask gently, knowing why he was up. Because like me, he'd lost his little Family too-
It was just the Spider Brothers again. Against the world of Hell. Against our monster, our Pops!
He doesn't answer me and I'm not going to make him. Instead he bends himself so's his legs rest beneath him and his head rests gently upon the top of my head fluff, joining my gazing upon the stars.
He hugs me as he sits, arms wrapped gently around my front and I take hold of one of his hands, letting him know back that I was there for him too.
"Can.. Can you's tell me da story bout da stars, Nissy? N' what day really are?"
It was a favorite of his and Molly's, the story of the stars, and now we had more reason to look upon them than ever before.
I start with a tired kind of voice, growing as the story goes on.
"Tony, I'm ganna tell'ya somethen dat Mama told me~"
We're already looking at the stars but I go on anyway, as the story goes.
"Look at da stars~ Da ones we love look down on us from dose stars!"
"Really, Johnny?" He whispers like he would as a kid and I nod before answering vocally, "Yes! So whenever you's feel alone just remember dat dere light will always be dere to guide you-"
I choke as Mama's final words to this story sink in at last, the finish to her story about her leaving one day and doing as our little Family did now.
Looking down on us from the stars, guiding us as we lived!
I never COULD finish the story but to Molly and Tony, I never had to-
We'd just stare at the stars in silence until they fell asleep.
Her words forever tenderly whispered into my young head of hair as she pet me as I began to drift off to sleep-
'And so will I~'
