Chapter Text
Toya's day was shit from the very beginning. That morning, Enji was on his case again about how if he planned to be an official hero then he needed to follow orders. But that was something Toya was never really good at. The fact that taking risks that could get people hurt is a really bad thing just doesn't seem to stick. Enji knows that mindset is unfortunately something he passed down to his son. It took years for Enji to overcome such a thing, still occasionally struggling with it, and he sadly had no idea how to talk his son out of it.
And it didn't help that he didn't really understand his oldest child at all. The way he dresses, the people he dates, his loner tendencies, and aggressively competitive behavior (although the last two are probably also inherited), none of it made much sense to Enji. Even so, he tried to be supportive, but his confusion and occasional disapproval was still obvious, which just made Toya want to lash out.
For example, Enji asked why Toya was hanging around Hawks so much, and Toya proceeded to storm out of the house without a word. Which led him to where he is right now. Brooding as he paced down the sidewalk, not caring for how many people he bumped into. His mostly white hair and black clothes made him stand out. Anyone that planned to speak up about him barging into them quickly changed their minds when they realized it was fucking Toya Todoroki. Everyone knew he had a reputation for taking things too far in the heat of an argument.
Luckily for everyone around him, Toya was paying more attention to his own thoughts than the people around him. He knew that question was going to come up eventually, but what the fuck was he supposed to say? Oh, yeah I forgot to tell you I'm fucking the number 2 hero which also happens to be one of your colleagues, hope you don't mind. Yeah, as if that would end well. He's tired of always being on the receiving end of his dad's disapproving looks when his siblings are always showered in praise. He's sick of it.
He's suddenly brought out of his thoughts by someone shoving past him, nearly making Toya fall over. The hero-in-training immediately got pissed and turned on his heel, grabbing the shoulder of the person and yanking them back. The force of it made the hood of the black hoodie the person was wearing fall off, revealing their face. Toya was stunned for a moment as he processed what was the face of Shigaraki Tomura, the most wanted villain in Japan.
Before Toya could properly react, Shigaraki punched Toya in the bend of his arm, causing the latter to involuntarily let go of the man and groan. As soon as Toya let go, Shigaraki took off towards an alley. The protocol for this sort of thing would be to call for an official hero to help, maybe track him from a distance. Although, since Shigaraki is such a highly skilled villain, tracking him would not be recommended. But as stated before, Toya is not good at following rules.
He takes off after Shigaraki, feeling his quirk heat up in the palms of his hands. Right as he turns the corner to look down the alleyway Shigaraki went, he erupts his quirk in a firey blast. But apparently, Shigaraki anticipated that, and was facing the entrance to the alleyway in order to decay the fire quirk before it reached him. Toya is taken back, certain that decaying quirks was not part of the man's capabilities. Now that he thinks about it, he's also certain he was supposed to have blue hair, not white. What the hell? Ah, well... that doesn't matter. He just needs to kill or at the very least incapacitate the villain.
He readied his quirk again, about to send a strong flame towards the league leader. However, with his focus on Shigaraki, he failed to notice the taller figure standing nearby. And before Toya knew it, he was hit in the head with what felt like a battering ram. He fell to the ground and quickly started to lose consciousness. His vision blurred as he looked up at the two villains standing over him, the one that wasn't Shigaraki holding a large piece of metal. Before he fully passed out, he could make out just one thing Shigaraki said.
"I'll carry him. Magne, you text Spinner and let him know were headed his way."
