Listed below are the kwami swaps & other changes made to the characters in my ML-universe in gen. More in-depth info will be revealed as the story progresses. Without further ado, let's dive into the characters & the changes I've made to their background to give them more dimension (bcz canon sucks).
Miraculous Team:
Wielders:
Luka/Redbird (Ladybug)
-Uses he/they pronouns.
-Is 2 years older than Juleka but shares the same birth date. The 'twin' thing is more of an inside joke. Debut when they were 17 years old.
-As Redbird, they're known as a calm, compassionate, if reserved hero. He doesn't approve of anyone, especially the press, harassing past akumatized villains. Thus, they always advocate for their privacy, protection and if needed, their rehabilitation.
-Always has a backup plan & contingencies.
-Unfortunately, he focuses on the well-being of others too much and ends up forgetting his own. Luckily, their partner is there to remind them to be a bit selfish sometimes.
Chris/Cheshire (Tiger)
-Redbird's first partner, debut when he was 15 years old.
-Overachiever that throws the best parties. He's skilled in karate, tennis & ballet. He once learned a bit of fencing but quit, having lost interest since he could no longer use that activity as an excuse to spend time with Adrianne.
-Pre-character growth, he was less of a bully and more of an asshole you don’t wanna cross. If you're invited to his parties, you're part of the crowd. If you're not invited? Better watch it.
-As Cheshire, aside from being the main offence, he keeps paparazzi away while Redbird calms the victim. He teaches Redbird how to handle the tough questions.
-Toxic masculinity, stfu, he slays hot pink, eyeliner and eyeshadow.
-Was originally resentful of Zoe, seeing her as his replacement but softens when he sees how abused & neglected she was. Will now commit murder if anyone looks at his baby sister the wrong way.
Kagami/Ryuko (Dragon)
-Canon did her dirty, I'm here to fix that.
-Trained by her mother, she's had the Order's virtues instilled in her since birth.
-Midway through season 1, she was sent to Paris to evaluate Redbird & Cheshire's worthiness to wield a Miraculous. Though initially aloof and somewhat arrogant, she realized their experience outweighed her training. She mellowed out afterwards and has since become a reliable ally.
-Manga, fanfiction & fanart are her guilty pleasures. She's actually been commissioned to do fanart by others and has quite the following online.
-Always watches anime without English subtitles to keep her Japanese fluent.
Marcel/Azure (Peacock)
-Is shy rather than clumsy (honestly, at this point, the canon clumsiness is just cringey second-hand embarrassment).
-Childhood friends with Nino & Alya, both of whom knew his secret identity as Azure the moment he got it.
-Prefers to practice wushu with his mom instead of boxing like Alya & Nino.
-Does commissions under the pseudonym 'MDC'.
-Relationship with Chris was never antagonistic. Heck, the guy didn’t even remember his name at first. He dislikes the blonde's attitude but grudgingly respects his efficiency as an organizer.
-Main support of the team & the mom friend. People just naturally gravitate towards him for help/comfort. Thus, he tries to stay on top of things so he can provide support while maintaining his own strength.
Nino/Carapace (Turtle)
-Is childhood friends with Marcel & Alya. He's had a crush on the latter for a while and finally confessed during 'Animan'.
-A pacifist but hurt his friends and he’ll use his shield for something other than protection.
-Took up boxing thanks to Alya & Nora.
-Currently being trained to be the next Guardian.
-Out of everyone, he's still very wary towards Tomoe as he can't help but compare her to Gabriel. Still, she's the perfect person to remind Nino of the kind of guardian he doesn't want to be.
GIC (Girls in the Chair):
Alya/Rena Furtive
-Unlike canon, she's been friends with Marcel & Nino since childhood.
-Was part of the school's debate team but quit when she found her passion in investigative journalism.
-Is a pretty good boxer thanks to Nora. Her right hook is mean.
-While she still starts the Redblog, she does so under the pseudonym 'Rena Furtive'. Her videos are usually in first person POV & she uses a filter to modulate her voice. Thus, viewers don't know what she looks like.
-Currently focused on investigating the villains, their motives, patterns, and possible identities. She has an entire wall of string theory for it.
Sabrina/Lavender
-Was introduced to Chris to act as his tutor. Contrary to what most people believe, she never helps Chris do his homework. She has a sibling-like relationship with Chris.
-First person Chris told his secret identity to, has been helping behind the scenes since.
-Sneaky & resourceful, she's skilled at information gathering.
-Currently helps Alya run the Redblog.
Juleka/Amethyst
-Eventually found out but waited for Luka to come tell her himself.
-Uses her makeup skills to help hide any bruises the miraculous users get.
-Knows first-aid, is the closest thing the team has to a medic.
-Surprisingly good at helping Fu craft charms.
Zoe/Amber
-Is two years younger than Chris.
-Really looks up to Chris and is a bit of an overachiever as well. Tried doing karate, dancing and piano to gain her mother's approval but never enjoyed it.
-Still dreams to become an actor but also loves tinkering with computers. Despite downplaying her skills, she's actually a prodigy.
-Is the GIC's best hacker.
Mentors:
Master Fu
-Appearance is based off callimara's rewrite/redesign version. Why? Because I'm self-indulgent like that.
-Was raised alongside Tomoe in the Order. Whereas she was by-the-book, he was more free-thinking, believing the Miraculous should be involved with the progressing world more.
-Had a falling out with her. Despite the truce they now have, he still hopes for proper reconciliation someday.
-Spent the past few decades travelling the world in search of the missing Miraculi, which is why he only reappeared at the end of Season 1.
-He revealed himself to both Luka & Chris at the same time. He was also the one who chose Nino.
Tomoe (Former Dragon)
-Was raised alongside Fu in the Order. She was chosen as the best candidate to wield Longg.
-Was the first Guardian Luka & Chris were introduced too. A bit rocky due to her rigid stance and well, the fact that she's dealing with teenagers. They managed to work things out overtime.
-Had a falling out with Fu but has since formed a truce for the sake of the kids.
-Stricter & harsher than Fu but has softened overtime, especially where Kagami is concerned.
-Do not mess with this MILF. Just don't.
