It was a warm spring night, The insects out and about and or sleeping. The nice sound of the wind flowing on the flowers and plants. The grass feels nice and warm, with a hint of coldness to it. Making it comfortable to lay in and just star-gaze. Just like what Shadow was doing tonight. Laying in the grass, and star-gazing. He didn’t have anything to do, no one to talk to even. Just look out into the stars, space in general. Thinking and thinking, possibly thinking about a certain someone...
“Shadow what are you doing out here this late?” A Small, soft-toned voice is heard. With a follow-up of a chao sound. “You should be at home sleeping!”
Shadow sits up from his star-gazing and looks behind him, to see cream and cheese. Cheese is being held by Cream Close. Cream waits intently for Shadow to say something, her big chestnut brown eyes seemingly glowing in the night shadows. “What are you doing out this late? Shouldn’t you be home yourself? It isn’t exactly ok to be alone out this late, you can get lost easily.” Shadow says, confused. Cream walks closer to Shadow and sits by him. Cheese still being held by her, That little chao is mesmerized by the stars whenever Cream sat down in the grass.
“I got lost in the forest, I was trying to find cheese. Cheese got scared about something and ran off.” Cream said sadly, Holding cheese closer to her body. “I was hoping to find cheese before it got dark, But when I found cheese It was dark.”
“How long have you been in the dark?” Cream looks at the shadow and thinks about the answer for a second.
“I think for 3 minutes, I don’t know it hasn’t been that long I guess. Actually- Maybe longer than that, I don’t know.” Shadow starts to get up a little more like he is ready to get going. ”Well I guess you're here now. I guess we can-”
”No! No, not yet. I wanna look at the stars with you If you are fine with that..” Shadow takes a second, and sits back down. Cream notices obviously and gets happy about it, smiling. Cheese also seems to be happy. When Cream’s face lit up with joy, it brought a small smile to shadow himself. Happy to see her happy.
Shadow lays back down, looking up. Cream follows what he does right after. “What exactly are you doing out this late?“
“Oh, Honestly just wanted to. Had nothing to do today like usual I guess.”
“Why?”
“Haven’t done it in a while I guess.”
“Why not! It’s really nice to just look at the stars, they shine so pretty every single night!” Cream was just confused about why he doesn’t do it often, maybe it gets too boring but then again who would get bored of star-gazing? It is such a nice thing to do, especially to relax.
Cream just looked at Shadow intently, why not! Shadow just looked back at Cream and chuckled a bit at Cream’s staring. “I used to live up there. The stars were my home basically, well more like neighbors.” Shadow saying. It perked Cream's ears up in interest.
“Really!? That is so cool, you used to see them up close all the time! What happened to you living up there though?”
“Stuff happened.”
“What kind of stuff?” Shadow thinks about it for a second, it was like Cream was at the edge of her seat to hear the answer. She needed answers or else he knows he will be annoyed by answering in some way.
“Well, just stuff. It isn’t important, But I used to live with others up there too.” Cream is more intrigued now, with others too? Not just alone? That was a thought alight, Cream isn’t used to Shadow being around others. Especially living with others. Cream inched closer beside him a little bit.
“Who else did you live with up there?” She asked so eagerly, cheese nodding with the question showing that he is also interested in the answer.
“One of the people I lived with up there was a Girl. She was like family to me.”
“What was her name?” Shadow seemed to hesitate before answering but nonetheless answered.
“Her name was Maria. She is in better places right now.”
“Maria is a pretty name!” She blurts out of her mouth, Shadow smiles again. It was a nice moment. Nothing bad is happening, just talking.
Cream yawns, Cheese yawning along with. Both are tired, and Cheese just falls straight to sleep. Cream is still holding on from sleeping. Shadow looks over patting her head. Cream just smiles looking over at Shadow, happy to also have this moment.
“What kind of person was she?” Cream asks, She was interested in Maria.
“She was kind, She was very caring of everyone around her. I and she would be around each other all the time, Doing random things. Everyone who lived up there with us and all just knew if Maria was there I would be there too in some way.” Shadow just looks up at the stars, Cream yawns again, her eyes slowly closing. Shadow gets up and picks up Cream, carrying her in his arms. Cheese being on cream, sleeping.
“Where are we going?” Cream says sleepily, Holding cheese close like he was some plush or blanket. Looking up at Shadow who started walking into the forest. Cream can’t see much as her tired eyes get a blurry kind of vision.
“Going to bring you home, Cream.” Cream tries to mutter something but it seems she fell fast asleep. She buries her face almost in Shadow’s chest. Fluffy.
“Goodnight Sis.”

About 4 Minutes later, Shadow finds Cream’s home and knocks on the door. Waiting for Vanilla to possibly come out and see him and her. It was a nice comforting home, being by other houses, still kind of outskirts. It’s nice and small, perfect for the Two rabbits, and the Chao that lives here.
Shadow hears walking all of a sudden after some moments of standing there, awkwardly enough. Vanilla opens the door, looks down, and sees the three. She gasps and hugs Shadow the second she realized it was him, holding cream in his arms.
“Oh my god, thank you so much Shadow. Cream must have got lost, she kind of went ahead of me trying to catch up to Cheese. Cheese got sca-”
“I know it’s ok.” Vanilla lets go and looks at him somewhat confused but Brushing it off. Just happy to see Cream Safe, along with Cheese this time.
“She found me star-gazing and she wanted to star-gaze with me. She didn’t wanna leave yet so We talked and then she fell asleep. Sorry that I didn’t bring her earlier when I first saw her.”
“Your fine Shadow, thank you, Hun.” Vanilla kisses his forehead and lifts Cream out of his arms. Shadow just stands there, Vanilla holding Cream tight, and close to her. Kissing her forehead next then Cheese’s. “You can stay for the night if you want, Shadow.”
Shadow was about to walk away but, oh well. He doesn’t have anything to do at all. Vanilla walks into her house, trying to wave Shadow in. Shadow follows along, closing the door behind him.
“Thank you.” He says, just walking over to the couch. What he always does when he comes over here. He doesn’t wanna be rude to them.
“You're welcome, Your like family Dear. You can always come over if you want, it doesn't matter the reason.” Shadow got a warm feeling inside, like comfort. Like family. Vanilla considers him like Family, It was nice to hear. It was again, comforting. Happy that the way he feels about these Rabbits is the same they feel about him.
Vanilla puts Cream in her room, leaving Cream to hug Cheese. Both seem happy in their sleep. Most likely having nice dreams. Vanilla comes back out into the living room where Shadow still resides.
“Is it ok if I ask something?” Shadow looks over at Vanilla, nodding yes.
“What were you doing so late? Was it just to star-gaze or what?”
“I didn’t have anything to do again, And I couldn’t sleep so I decided to go out and Star-gaze. It was nice to just Star-gaze though since I haven’t done it in a while.”
“Do you like the stars?”
“Yeah. They are pretty.” Vanilla walks over to Shadow and hugs him again. Shadow was a bit caught off guard. She lets go and just sits by Him, looking at him.
“You can sleep in the Extra room we have if you want to. It’s just by Cream's room. And before I leave is there anything you need?”
“No, I am fine.” Vanilla gets up, along with Shadow. Vanilla heads to her room.
“Well, Goodnight Hun. I hope you have sweet dreams.” She goes into her own room and closes the door.
Shadow walks past Cream's room, going back for a second to see if she is fine. Yeah, she is, Don’t worry. He then walks into the Extra room and closes that door. He lays down in the bed putting the cover on him, it was a nice light blue painted room. One window by the bed, a Stand right beside the bed with a Drawer. It was smooth wood, weirdly Vintage. The inside of the room was nice and chilly, kind of warm but comfortable enough to sleep in.
Shadow looks up at the ceiling and slowly closes his eyes and falls asleep.
