Summary:

Sonic accidentally killed a baby. Shadow helps with the cover up.

(Not canon to the au)

Notes:

NOT CANON TO THE AU EVENTS. It’s just a scenario I thought up and it’s kinda fucked up not gonna lie. Sonic does go to become a celebrity in this au.

Short and not edited (because I’m sleepy)

Work Text:

‘You just weren’t meant to be a hero, Sonic. And I wouldn’t try to be.’, was something her father figure, Doctor Eggman, told her once when she was little. Back then, the blue hedgehog took it with a grain of salt. She was a villain after all. But now, Sonic truly understood that he was right all along.

Here she was at an abandoned and slightly collapsed building with a dead baby in her arms. Sonic had tried to play the hero during a natural disaster/Dr. Eggman’s attack and had grabbed the baby just in time to save him for the collapsing building. Unfortunately, the blue hedgehog was slightly careless and well, it wasn’t pretty.

The body was barely recognizable. The baby’s neck was twist and bent. The bones jutted out everywhere. It cut through the skin and blood poured out. The blood got over was all over her brand new white dress shirt, hands, and part of her black slacks.

Shadow followed close behind her, angry for just about everything going wrong and her part in it. He was shouting and screaming at the blue hedgehog, who stayed exactly where she was. Shadow approached still cursing. He kept up his berate of insults until he saw the dead baby.

“What the fuck, Sonic?!”

Sonic’s breathing started to quicken sporadically. She was felt sick but there was nothing she could do now to fix this. The blue hedgehog remained silent as she processed this traumatic event. Shadow stared at the display but somehow regained some sense of urgency.

“Shit!”, he cursed. He grabbed Sonic’s shoulders to get her to calm down. It worked but just barely. Sonic was still like a corn husk,

”Come on, hurry up. Sonic!”, the black and red hedgehog shook her violently. “We need to get rid of it.”

“Get rid of what?”, she said still unbelieving.

“The body, idiot.”

And with that, Sonic did not talk the rest of the time. The cover up took a few hours. What she did, sonic wouldn’t be able to say. Those hours were blocked from her memory and the only thing she did remember was now unlocking the front door of her house.

Walking into her open kitchen/living room area, Sonic spots her rival sitting on the couch flipping through the tv channels. Shadow’s face was neutral as always, like he hadn’t help her get rid of the body of an infant. The blue hedgehog decided to approach her rival for some questions.

”Why did you helping me?”, Sonic questioned. “I could go to jail for this.”

Without looking away from the tv, Shadow said, “No jail could hold you.”

“We both know that’s not true.” GUN had made it very clear what they thought of her and Shadow. They built a prison specifically for them which drained all their chaos energy required for their special abilities. The scary part what that it had worked until Metal had busted in and saved them. And Eggman was more than capable of putting her back on the hamster wheel if needed.

Shadow sighed heavily and turned off the tv. He got up from the comfortable couch and made his was towards Sonic.

“Sonic, you’re not ever going to do this again right?”

“Of course not! I mean I don’t even know how this-“

“Then no one needs to know.”, the black and red hedgehog cut her off with finality. “You’ll be more careful next time and not mess up again.”

Shadow held her cheeks and stared her down the eyes to what seemed like her soul. “Understood?”

Sonic nodded, “Understood.” The blue hedgehog then added, ”Can you stay the night, Shads? I’m not sure I can do anything on my own right now.”

Shadow slightly smiled. “Already one step ahead of you Faker.” The black and red hedgehog held her hand and took her to the large open patio outside. On the ground were two sleeping bags pushed together starring up at the stars.

They both crawled in their respective bags and fell asleep. Tomorrow, Sonic would figure out the next step but she was so tired and hoping to any deity that the days events were just a figment of her imagination. But reality isn’t that kind as Sonic had discovered the next morning.

Notes:

I’m trying to finish up all my drafts so I can start working on a South Park fic idea i’ve been thinking about. South Park might be my next fixation for a while. I don’t know.
