Summary
The ocean had always been the home of the mersisters Maribelle and Calista, hiding away in their cave kingdom. They had always been warned of the land dwellers or humans and the damage they cause to their homes and animals, but they were so much more!
Maribelle was the more curious of the two, finding humans absolutely fascinating and learning their ways of life. From her curiosity, she found out that when merfolk entirely leave the water, their tail splits into two human legs. She kept this secret, enjoying small moments among the land dwellers and making memories within it all. She wished to share it with Calista, but her sister was incredibly set in her ways.
Calista was more grounded and lived her life by the rules. She was a fighter more than a lover and rarely strayed from what she was taught all of her life. When the news came of their betrothal and meeting the Princes, she knew that she wasn’t in love with the merman she was to marry, but what was necessary for her parents. She could learn to love someone after a time, but she just wished her sister would see the harm her obsession could do.
