Summary
Lee Felix lies dying on the side of a road that gets almost no traffic at night, lying on the grass as he fights for his life, no phone in sight. There is no one with him now. He is twenty two years old and he is scared for the first time in his life, actually scared, and he remembers gently what it used to be like to cry for his mother. He chokes as he breathes and his lungs burn, but tastes nothing as he swallows blood, body seizing under the tremors from the crash. Even if he could look at his legs, he’s not sure he’d want to, because they’d tucked under him at an angle he knows they shouldn’t be.
