Summary
Sometimes all you need is a good excuse. Cora was good at those. She had an excuse for why it was fine to tell just one person about what professor Fig had told her not to tell anyone about yet, for why it would be okay if she went exploring in the forbidden forest by herself, for why it was important that her new friend’s best friend - who unfortunately already seemed to dislike her - also joined them when they did their homework. What she did not have an excuse for, was why he made her so nervous, or why she couldn’t stop looking at him when she really shouldn’t be. Now if she could just find a good one for why she needed to hold his hand…
Even if she somehow managed to get his attention, the secret responsibility that she had never wanted was never far from her mind, looming over her as she tried to get used to her new life. Her family had their own expectations as well, especially considering she was no longer a squib.
The story will be told from both Cora's and Ominis' point of view (mostly Cora's though tbh). The emotional impact a lot of the game events would have on the main character are very overlooked and I will focus on those during some chapters.
