Chapter Text
The smell of a fresh turned vampire met his nose as he walked down the alleyway in search of his next meal. Following it, he heard whimpers coming from further down the long passageway. He carefully made his way toward it until he finally heard it coming from a dumpster. He could make out the sounds of soft cries coming from inside.
Opening it, he was met with scared brown eyes staring from a tear-streaked face. The shivering figure sniffled before shaking his head and covering his face with his arms.
“Please don't hurt me. I promise I won't tell,” he cried.
“Shh, it's okay. I'm not going to hurt you. Let’s get you out of there,” he said, helping the other out of the grey metal dumpster.
As he dusted himself off with another sniffle, the man said, “Thank you. Is he gone?”
“Who?”
“The guy who did this. He was tall with bright red hair and a sad looking face. He said he needed help, and it sounded so real. I’m so stupid. He…he attacked me! What kind of horrible person attacks another?! Then, he had these big teeth, and he bit me. He freaking bit me! Who even does that?!”
“Calm down, um…”
“Jimin…My name is Jimin.”
“Alright, Jimin, my name is Yoongi. I just have one question for you.”
“What's that?” he asked, worry in his eyes.
“Do you believe in vampires?”
“Are you actually insane? Just because he had big teeth and he bit me, he's a vampire? I suppose you're going to say because he bit me, I’m now a vampire too, huh?” Jimin asked, hand on his hip. His face dropped in realization at the serious face the other was giving him. “You're serious, aren't you?” he mumbled.
A nod. “In a few hours you'll be dead if you don't find a sire to link yourself to. I can take you somewhere safe if you believe.”
Jimin looked at him in disbelief, tears dying in his still red face. “That had got to be the worst pick up line in all of human history. I can't do this right now. I'm going home. Thank you, stranger Yoongi for helping me out of the dumpster. I'm going back to my apartment and my hamster.”
Jimin ran his hand over his torn dress shirt that hung from one shoulder like rags. He then hobbled a few steps before looking down, cursing, and taking off his one remaining heel and walking toward home.
He made it two blocks before excruciating pain shot down his spine. His vision went blurry as he gasped for air, turning his face a blueish grey.
He could feel his heartbeat slow until it no longer beat. His fingernails grew long as he scratched at his neck, trying and failing to catch his breath. With one final pitiful gasp, he fell dead.

Red. So much red. He sat up with a jolt, wondering what the sound surrounding him was.
Swoosh, slush, swoosh, slush.
It was everywhere. Loud and deafening. It permeated his throbbing head, seemed to saturate his throbbing bones. The noise beckoned him, called and begged for him to come nearer.
Swoosh, slush, swoosh, slush.
So many noises coming from all directions but the gentle whirring was what he needed most.
Standing on shaky legs, he woozily made his way down a long corridor. The sound…it sang to him. He needed it. Stumbling, he made his way down the stairs, almost falling several times. As he reached the bottom, the scent of something coppery and delightful filled his nose. The sound became louder and louder, throbbing in his mind.
He wanted, no needed to find the sound and become one with it. He followed it until he came upon the kitchen. There on a large center island was a man tied down with a large cloth gag in his mouth. He yelled and fought against the restraints, but his muffled screams did nothing to deter Jimin from finding the source of his desire. Making his way to the human, he watched as his carotid pulsed with each heartbeat.
Swoosh. Slush. Swoosh. Slush.
His mouth watered as he inched closer and closer to the man’s jugular. The man bucked and struggled as though he was fighting for his life – because he was.
Jimin sunk his teeth deep into the man’s artery, reveling in the way the blood pulsed and poured from the wound. It filled his mouth at an alarming rate, causing him to gulp it down with such force, he thought his stomach would overflow. Nothing had ever tasted quite so delicious.
As the wonderful liquid ran dry, he felt exhaustion creep in. The room began to spin wildly as he fell into awaiting arms.

“Look at his little tummy – it’s so poofy from his meal. How can he be so cute?” Jungkook said, giggling and pointing at the new vampire’s pooch.
“Bring him over here, Namjoon,” Yoongi said, clearing a place for Jimin on the chaise longue.
Namjoon smiled as he sat him down, careful not to drop or injure him in any way. Yoongi covered the younger vampire with a warm, knitted blanket, tucking him in softly. As Namjoon moved to the side, the others quickly gathered around “oohing” and “ahhing” at the sleeping vampire.
“How could his sire just leave him there?” Taehyung pouted, earning a hiss from Yoongi. “Um, I mean the guy who turned him. You’re his sire,” he apologized with an awkward chuckle.
“Riiight. Anyhow, what’re we gonna do with him, boss?” Hoseok asked.
With a sigh, Yoongi answered, “How many times do I have to tell you I’m not your boss?”
“Sorry, boss. I mean…uh, sorry,” Hoseok shrugged.
With a shake of his head, Yoongi answered, “We do what we always do, Hoseok. We offer him a family and a second chance.”
“But what if he doesn’t want it?” Seokjin worried, biting his fingernail.
Moving his hand away, Yoongi replied, “Don’t bite your nails, pretty. If he doesn’t want to stay with us, we can’t make him. But we can try.”
With a blush at the pet name, Seokjin nodded in understanding.
They let the man sleep as they set about cleaning up and preparing him his own room.

Jimin awoke to the sound of humming. Looking over, he saw a man adding books to a bookshelf across from him. The man hadn’t seen him yet – maybe he could sneak away.
“Oh, you’re awake,” he said, without turning around. So much for that. “We’ve given you your own room. I wasn’t sure what hobbies you may lean toward, but we’ve added some things for you.”
Turning around, Jimin was met with a pair of dimples that made him gasp. “Oh, um, thank you, uh.”
“Namjoon. I was the third one here. I know you’re probably terrified right now, but trust me – Yoongi is a good guy. He’s always been kind to us,” he reassured, sitting on an armchair near the window.
“Who is us?” Jimin asked warily.
“The others who live here. At first, he was alone. Then he’s found us all one by one like he found you. Some of us were injured, most of just joined him willingly. Vampires like us are stronger in numbers. We’ve become close over the years. It’s been a very long time since we’ve had a new person here.”
“What if I want to leave?”
“You’re free to do so whenever you want. This is not a prison, just a home for wayward vampires who desire a family. Tell me – do you have a family?”
Jimin hung his head before biting his bottom lip. “I…I do not. At least not any longer.”
“Ah, they have passed?”
“No.”
Namjoon looked at him in confusion.
“They kicked me out yesterday. That is why I was out so late. We fought, and they said they would not tolerate someone like me in their family,” he said sadly.
“Like you?”
“They wanted me to marry their business partner’s daughter. The girl was not unattractive, and she’s had her eye on me for some time. Just…I don’t find women all that interesting,” he said, shoulders slumped. “And now, I’m this thing. All I wanted was to be able to love whomever I wanted. Why can’t I just be happy?” he said, tears welling in his eyes.
Namjoon walked over and kneeled in front of him, placing a large hand on Jimin’s knee. “Don’t cry, Jimin. Everyone here will understand. I, myself, am of the belief that you cannot help whom you love. You will have a home here if you so desire.”
Jimin smiled softly.
