Work Text:

Dear Prosecutor Gavin Klavier,

Since I’m not actually going to send this to you, I can call you Klavier, right?

Are you doing okay?

As much as I pretend that there’s nothing going on between us, I know that that’s not the truth, at least for me.  I pretend to ignore your flirting, since you flirt with anything and everything that moves, but I actually have butterflies in my stomach.  I pretend that your air guitar in court is annoying, but I actually find it cute.  And I pretend that I don’t like when you call me nicknames, but I am actually flattered. I like the nickname, somehow.  I can’t explain why but I do.

This year must have been really difficult for you.  How can you keep going like nothing is wrong, how can you continue to put that smile on your face every day, when you’ve lost both a close friend and your brother?

I was broken enough myself, when Mr. Wright asked me to defend him and the true culprit ended up being Mr. Gavin.  I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that my mentor could do such things, not when he had treated me so well and taught me almost everything that I knew about law.  Not to mention that my image of Mr. Wright was shattered too.  I was plagued with self-doubt and felt like I lost so much in the span of just a few days.  I can’t imagine what it was like for you though.

Klavier, I’m worried about you.  But I don’t know if we have the kind of relationship where I can just stop by your house and check in on you.  I don’t really know what to do, to be honest.

How does one end a letter that he’s not going to send anyway?  I guess it doesn’t really matter.  I hope you’re doing okay.  I really, really, really hope so.  Please take care of yourself.

Sincerely,
Apollo Justice

Dear Klavier,

I heard that you decided to take a break from prosecuting and will instead begin a solo singing career.  I want to say that I’m really happy for you, but truthfully I don’t know if I like it.  I don’t want you to run away from being a prosecutor because of what happened.  Well I guess if it keeps you busy, and you’ll be surrounded by people, then that is a good thing.  But I can’t pretend that I'm not a bit jealous of your fans… there's no way I’m going to join the hoards of screaming girls though.  No way.  I’ll admire you in secret so that you have no way of knowing.  I'm sad that I won't see you across the courtroom from me anymore.

Yours,
Apollo

Dear Klavier,

Trucy is dragging me along to this exclusive fanmeeting you’re having. I got roped into it by her and Mr. Wright.  Mr. Wright doesn’t want her going alone (don’t know why, the biggest risk is probably being trampled by screaming fangirls) and Trucy gave me her puppy dog eyes, so I guess I’m going to be coming along.  She said that the best part is where you will pick a random ticket number and grant the owner of that ticket a wish?  Erm, well, she said that certain wishes are not allowed, like kissing or anything past that, or else the lucky fan would probably become target practice for the other not-so-lucky fans. I wouldn’t put it past them.

If Trucy wins, she’ll probably ask for you to do a magic trick onstage with her.  That would be kind of cool, actually.  Anyway, I’m excited and nervous to see you, even though I’m just going to be lurking in the audience like any old regular chaperone.

Affectionately,
Your Forehead

Apollo shoved the letter into an already bulging envelope full of his previous letters and hid it under his mattress.

***Two weeks later***

“Come on Polly, let’s go already!” Trucy shouted impatiently from outside Apollo’s door.

“Yeah, yeah, almost ready,” Apollo muttered. He sighed as he gave himself a once-over in the mirror.  He needed to check his outfit (or who was he kidding… his hair).  He supposed he might as well look presentable for the night ahead.  It was the night he had been dreading all month.  A special fanmeeting held by the one and only Klavier Gavin himself.  It wasn’t that he was dreading to see Klavier, in fact it was quite the opposite.  He wasn’t quite ready to come to terms with his feelings, so he wrote letters he would never send, and kept them all carefully hidden under his mattress.

He figured the night would give him an opportunity to quietly observe Klavier from afar - which is what he had been doing with Klavier’s solo career ever since he launched it - but this time he would actually be in the same auditorium as him. It would be the first time that he saw the superstar in person after meeting at Vera Misham’s hospital bed after the girl had woken up.  He wasn’t sure why he felt shy around Klavier now, but the truth is that they weren’t ever particularly close, even when they were on the same cases together.  Klavier always helped him in court as they pursued the truth together, but after the whole debacle of getting both Daryan and Kristoph into jail, he felt that things would have been strained between them.  So Apollo avoided him. And it was easy to avoid him, since Klavier wasn’t prosecuting any cases anymore.  No, he had been traveling the world promoting his latest album.

Trucy was getting more and more insistent outside his door, so Apollo swallowed, looked at his reflection in the mirror, and said “I’m fine.”  He calmly (or in an effort to be calm) strode out the door to meet an exasperated Trucy.  He didn’t even notice that the corner of his mattress wasn’t quite lined up with the bed frame anymore.

***

An hour later, he was surrounded by legions of screaming fangirls as he waited in the line for official merchandise for Trucy.  "Polly, I really have to pee, please wait in line for me so I can get the t-shirt and lightstick!“  He hoped that she was okay, it was taking her an awfully long time.  He supposed there was probably an hour long wait in front of the women’s restroom.  He sighed as the line inched forward, little by little.

***

After Apollo finished purchasing the t-shirt and lightstick (he hoped that was all Trucy wanted, as he was not waiting in that ridiculous line again), he was greeted by an arm linked in his.  "Oh my God Polly, I’m so sorry, the line to the bathroom was ridiculous…”

“No problem.  I hope you didn’t want anything else.”

“This is PERFECT, thanks Polly!!” Trucy stuffed the t-shirt into her magic panties and held onto the light stick, which was embellished with an elaborate KG on the top.  The Gavinners’ G logo had been retired when the group disbanded.  She looked at him with a sly smile.  "Aren’t you excited??  It’s almost time for us to go inside!"

Apollo tried to feign ambivalence on his face but in reality his heart was hammering away in his chest.  He didn’t know why he was nervous - he was just going to blend into a crowd of hundreds of fans and watch Klavier from a seat halfway across the auditorium.  But if he thought about it honestly, he really was excited to see Klavier in person again, even if it would be from a distance.  He looked at Trucy wryly, “Why would I be excited?”

Trucy gave him a knowing glance, as they stepped into the line to enter the main doors.

***

Apollo had brought along earplugs in his pocket, just in case he needed them.  He knew how loud the fangirls could be.  They were settled into their seats and he toyed with them in his pocket nervously.  He looked around - the auditorium was completely full.  From his vantage point, there wasn’t an empty seat in the entire place, and there wasn’t a male presence aside from him.  At that moment, the lights dimmed, fangirls screamed, and the announcer came on stage and introduced Klavier.  Even the announcer was female.

More screaming ensued.  Apollo couldn’t help but smile as Klavier came onstage and waved to everyone.  "Hallo everyone, and thanks for coming tonight,“ he drawled.

The crowd went wild.

Apollo thought about putting in his earplugs, and thought about it some more.  But he didn’t.

***

The fanmeeting consisted of several parts, including an exclusive performance of a song that had not yet come out, a sneak peek at some photos from a new photo book he would be releasing, and collective sighing over a silly video of Klavier doing silly things backstage before an overseas concert. Trucy was thoroughly enjoying herself.  He could tell from the way she eagerly bounced in her seat, and how she laughed and raised her lightstick in tune with the crowd.  At one point she leaned over and whispered in his ear, “Thanks so much for coming with me Polly.”  Next was a Q&A session where the announcer picked out questions that fans had submitted prior to the meeting.  Little things like “what is your favorite cuisine” or “where is your dream vacation destination.”  Apollo tuned out the questions and listened to the gentle cadence of Klavier’s voice as he laughed and answered the questions.  He could hear the smile in Klavier’s voice.

***

“And now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for!!!” The announcer cut into Apollo’s thoughts like a hot knife through butter.  "It’s time to select our mystery fan, who will get the wish of her choice granted by Klavier!  Take out your ticket stubs now!“

Klavier grinned as he reached his hand into a fishbowl of tickets, which had been taken from each person’s ticket upon entering the auditorium.  He took his time picking one out.  Everybody in the auditorium was holding onto their ticket stubs, staring at the seat number, as he continued.  "And the lucky fräulein is in seat… AA26.”

Nobody stood up at first.  A wave of groans was heard throughout the auditorium as fans realized that their seat was not chosen.  When still nobody got up, every member in the room began turning around and peering to find row AA, to see what kind of idiot was still sitting in seat 26, unaware.  Then Trucy yelped.  "POLLY!!!!! IT’S YOU!!!!!!“

Apollo’s heart rushed into his chest as he whipped around to try and see his seat number in the low lighting.  He hadn’t taken out his ticket stub, so he started rummaging in his pockets for it.  "Trucy, stop joking around.”

“NO, I’M NOT KIDDING.  I’M IN SEAT 25.  YOU’RE IN 26.  GET UP AND GO TO THE STAGE.”

Apollo stared at all of the shocked expressions around him as he could feel his face slowly turning bright red.  Finally he found the elusive ticket stub, and on it very clearly was printed AA26.  He looked at Trucy, aghast, as she simply clasped her hands together and squealed.

How could it be, he wondered, that in a room almost entirely filled with women, Klavier picked his ticket?

“Don’t worry, I won’t bite,” Klavier joked from the stage.

He stood up.

***

The crowd was quiet.  Apollo was thankful that there was no negative reaction as he walked up to the stage, though he dragged his feet while he did so.  He had no idea what he was even going to ASK FOR.  He would be granted a wish?!  What the hell was he supposed to do?  But it was too late - before he knew it, he was on the stage standing opposite Klavier, staring at his former rival.  Apollo stared at his sculpted features, his tanned skin, at how well his clothes hung off of his tall lean body.  And into his beautiful blue eyes.  Even if he had planned what he was going to say or do, it probably would’ve all flown out of his head at this very moment.  He saw Klavier’s mouth move but he couldn’t hear a thing.

When it was clear everyone was looking at him to answer a question he missed, he didn’t quite know what to do. “Huh?” he croaked.  So much for his chords of steel.

The crowd laughed.  Klavier smiled at him.  The announcer brought a microphone over and handed it to him. “Klavier says your name is Apollo?”

“Yes,” he replied weakly.

“Ah well, Apollo.  You know, you look familiar.  Have we met somewhere before?” Still the announcer.  Obviously Klavier wouldn’t have asked such a thing.

Klavier cut in.  "Sweet Fräulein, this is Herr Justice.  He is a defense attorney.  Back when I was prosecuting, we worked together on some of the same cases.  You may have seen him in the news with me.  What a coincidence I would pick his ticket out from the fishbowl!“

Klavier seemed as friendly and upbeat as ever - but Apollo could sense the slightest bit of strain as his bracelet tightened around his wrist.  Why? he thought to himself.  We may not have been close friends, but…?  Surely it’s just as easy to sweet talk here than it was in the courtroom.

The announcer continued, oblivious to the growing discomfort from both of them.  "So Apollo!  Seems you already know Klavier.  Can you tell us a little about yourself?”

Apollo looked away from Klavier and turned his focus to the announcer.  He was a lawyer, he stood in court plenty of times in worse situations and he made it work then.  He would make it work now.  "My name is Apollo Justice,“ he started.  He bit down the urge to finish it with and I’m fine because really, who would understand?  "I’m a lawyer, and Prosecutor Gavin and I have worked really well together in the past."  What else was he supposed to SAY?

Luckily the announcer saved him.  Or maybe not.  "So Apollo, what is the wish you’d like granted by Klavier?“  Apollo just looked at her helplessly.  What do normal people ASK for in this kind of situation, he wondered.  Fangirls would probably ask for a hug, or a kiss on the cheek, for an autograph?  For him to feed them a piece of cake?  He had no idea, really.   He was way out of his element.

This time it was Klavier who saved him.  "Fräulein,” he said to the announcer, “I have an idea!  How about we play a game first?  It would be fun.”

The announcer and Apollo both looked at him with identical expressions of surprise, Apollo was sure.  But he recovered quickly.  "A game sounds good.“

“O…kay,” she replied.  "What kind of game should we try?“

All of a sudden Trucy was up on stage next to Apollo.  It must have been some magician’s trick, or else she had anticipated that he would need her help.

“Fräulein Trucy!” Klavier said.  "How nice to see you again.“  He gave the back of her hand a little kiss.

She blushed.  The announcer still looked perplexed.  "I’m with him,” Trucy said, gesturing to Apollo, after hijacking the microphone from him.  "And I’ve got just the thing!  How about the Pocky game?“  She whipped out her magic panties and out came a box of Pocky.  And then she winked.

Apollo was sure his face bordered on horrified at this point.  Klavier was grinning, as usual.  It seemed like Trucy would be running the show now, instead of the announcer.  This was spiraling out of control.

“Everyone knows the Pocky game!” Trucy exclaimed.  She was bouncing a little and really selling it now.  The fans in the audience started clapping.  Apollo was sure that even though they all wished they were on stage and could play the Pocky game with Klavier, they probably survived on this kind of thing.  They could live vicariously through him.  Apollo plastered a what-he-was-sure-was-really-fake smile on his face, and said, “okay.”

Klavier looked surprised for a split second, before it disappeared off his face.  "Ja, let’s do it!“

“All right!” proclaimed Trucy.  The audience started cheering even louder.  Trucy ripped open the packet inside the Pocky box and produced an unbroken piece of Pocky covered in chocolate on one end.  "Who wants the chocolate end?“

Apollo shot Klavier a feeble look.  He wasn’t sure if this day could get any more embarrassing but he figured he would go along with it for the audience and for Trucy.  He was sure she was loving every moment of being on stage, even if she wasn’t performing her magic tricks (yet).

***

Klavier couldn’t believe his Herr Forehead actually came onto the stage.  And he was thankful for Fräulein Trucy’s intervention.  Although Klavier may be better about acting nonplussed over the entire situation, he knew his heart rate had increased quite a bit over the last few minutes.

When Apollo failed to answer the question, he stepped in.  "Ach, I don’t mind, I can take either one.  Herr Forehead can have the chocolate end?  That side is better.”  He flashed his trademark smile and the crowd went wild again.

“Okay, now get closer!” Trucy encouraged.  When Apollo failed to move closer, she pulled him so that he was standing in front of Klavier.  She held onto the non-chocolate side of the Pocky out in front of her and motioned them to stand on opposite ends of the Pocky, about a foot apart.  Klavier hid a smile behind his hand, and stepped into position.

Apollo’s eyes changed then, Klavier took it as a sign that his competitive spirit was flaring up.  Just then, his eyes looked just like they looked in court.  Well, well, this would be fun after all.

On Trucy’s count of three, they lined their mouths up on either side of the Pocky.  "Okay… now start!“ she announced.

***

Both sides stood still.

"Come on, guys, go or else you both lose,” she said.  The crowd egged them on.  They were mostly chanting Klavier’s name, but that was to be expected.

Slowly, they each started eating from their side of the Pocky.  They stared into each others’ eyes and Apollo fought to control the hot flush that he was sure was creeping onto his cheeks.

He was in it to win, so win he would.  They both inched closer and closer to the middle.  Apollo squeezed his eyes shut.  What was going to happen?

All of a sudden, the air around him felt cooler and Trucy shouted.  "And we have a winner!“  Apollo’s eyes fluttered open and sure enough, Klavier wasn’t directly in front of him anymore.  Instead he was standing back a little, laughing.  Nervously, if his bracelet was any indicator.

"Ach, well you won again, Herr Forehead,” Klavier said, chuckling. In court and at the Pocky game, Apollo finished in his head.  The whole thing was silly.  He won in court because his clients were innocent.  And he won at the Pocky game because…?  Because Klavier had let him.

Trucy interrupted his train of thought.  "Have you thought of your wish, Apollo?  I don’t think we have much time left.“

The announcer hurried back over; she had gone to sit on her stool in the corner of the stage during the Pocky game.  "Yes, we have about 15 minutes left,” she checked her watch and clarified.  "And we’ve got some stuff to wrap up at the end, so you have about 5 minutes.“

Shit, shit, shit, Apollo thought to himself.  WHAT does a normal guy ask for as a "wish” from a not-quite-friend-but-definitely-a-crush-he-doesn’t-want-to-admit rock star prosecutor?

Klavier leaned down with his hands on his hips, face dangerously close to Apollo’s - Apollo wondered why he was okay invading his personal space like this, if he pulled away in the Pocky game first - and Apollo was struck by how blue, how infinitely blue and gorgeous those eyes were.  He felt like an idiot.  He had known this guy for months, he fought court cases against him and WON, and it wasn’t like he had never been in a high-pressure or stressful situation before.  But somehow, this time, he was totally tongue-tied.

And just at that moment, Trucy stuck the microphone under his mouth.

“Your eyes,” Apollo managed.

***

Klavier just stared at him.  Apollo stared back.  Trucy stared at the both of them.  The audience was hushed.  The announcer had retreated back to her stool.  It was awkward.

Finally Trucy broke the silence.  "Like the song?  From the musical Rent!!  We just watched the movie together two nights ago!“

"Rent!”  Klavier jumped in easily.  "I know the song.  Ja, then, Herr Forehead, I can make that happen for you.“

The announcer had retreated into the back wings, and came out in a flash with Klavier’s guitar.  She handed it to him.

The audience cheered.  While they may not all know the songs or anything about Rent, hearing their idol sing anything was a precious gift.

The announcer pushed Klavier’s performing chair to him while Trucy whipped out a stool of similar height for Apollo.  How did she do that? he wondered as he sat down.  His thoughts were interrupted when Klavier began to strum his guitar and sing.

***

Your Eyes was a song set at the end of the musical, and the lyrics were heartbreaking, of a man in love but on the brink of losing the woman he loved so dearly.  They had dated briefly, but both had made countless mistakes, and thus had separated despite still being in love.  He sang to her about her eyes, how he noticed them the night they met, how he could see them in the moonlight.  How he wished for one more day so that he could tell her how he loved her, had always loved her, and how it was evident in his own eyes.

Klavier’s version did the musical justice.  He really did have a beautiful voice, Apollo thought.  He was having trouble looking into Klavier’s eyes though, especially now that he was singing about eyes all because Apollo blurted that out like a fool.  Good lord.

He looked at his shoes, at Klavier’s knees, peeked at the audience a few times.  He could feel tears prickling at the corners of his eyes as he fought to keep his emotions at bay.  Klavier's voice was so soft and tender and real, almost as if he had written the song himself and really meant what he was singing.  He noticed girls in the audience crying and dabbing at their eyes.  Trucy had disappeared to the corner of the stage along with the announcer, where they hid their faces in the shadows.  When he ventured a look at Klavier briefly, he saw a faint sadness in those pools of blue, as they focused directly on him.

Apollo quickly glanced away, and could feel his face burning up even more.

***

In the blink of an eye it was over.  The announcer shooed Apollo and Trucy off the stage once the song had finished, but not before Trucy stunned the audience by whipping out a kitten from her magic panties.  With a flourish, she presented the kitten to Klavier as congratulations for his successful solo career.  The kitten was a precious little thing, a calico, or something, Apollo thought.  Before he was whisked off the stage by the budding magician, Klavier held out his hand.  Apollo looked at it briefly, then took it and smiled.  "Thanks Prosecutor Gavin,” he said.

“Not a prosecutor anymore, but… no, thank you, Herr Forehead.”  Klavier bowed his head briefly, they shook hands, and the audience clapped and cheered.  Trucy pulled Apollo down to bow with her, and they bounded down the steps back to their seats.

***

The rest of the fanmeeting was a blur.  They announced some new cities that had gotten added onto Klavier’s concert tour, some stuffed plushies with Klavier’s autograph were thrown into the audience as gifts, and Klavier said some final words of thanks to all of his fans for sticking with him through thick and thin, despite what happened with the Gavinners.

Apollo couldn’t remember much of it.  Every so often though, he caught Trucy peeking at him and smiling.

***

Once it was over, it was a madhouse trying to get out of the auditorium.  "Psst, Polly!  Let’s go through the stage exit!“

"Trucy, we can’t!  That’s off limits to fans.”

“We’re not normal fans, silly,” she replied.  And with that she pulled him with her before he could let out any more protests.  They passed a few guards who were manning the stage exits, but the guards said nothing.

“Trucy, do you have some kind of invisibility cloak or something because this feels like all shades of illegal,” Apollo muttered.

She seemed to know where she was going as she led him back to a door that had the sign “KLAVIER GAVIN” taped on the door.  "TRUCY, what are you—“  He couldn’t even finish his sentence because she knocked twice on the door and it promptly swung open.  By the object of his affections, somehow looking even better than he had on stage.

***

"Fräulein Trucy!  Herr Forehead.  Come in, come in.”  They were ushered into his private dressing room and the door shut promptly behind them.  Apollo stood a bit to the side and listened with half an ear as Trucy praised Klavier on the fanmeeting, how she loved his new song, how the photoshoots looked great, how he seems to be doing so well.

Klavier thanked her graciously with a large smile and a hug.

“Sorry but I need to use the restroom, I’ll be right back!” Trucy announced once they finished talking.  She patted Apollo on the shoulder briefly then quickly disappeared.

With her departure, the air got a bit heavier.

“Herr Forehead,” Klavier started.  He motioned toward a couch and Apollo sat in it.  Klavier sat in a chair across from the couch.

“Prosecutor Gavin, I mean—”

“I don’t mind you calling me Klavier,” he cut in.

“Um, ok Kl–” Just then, Apollo noticed a familiar envelope sitting on the table between them.

Oh…. no, he thought to himself.  Trucy.

Klavier noticed where his eyes had stopped and he quickly grabbed the envelope and shoved it into a bag next to the chair.  He looked back at Apollo.

“OH MY GOD,” Apollo exclaimed.  He put his head in his hands.  "Oh my god oh my god oh my god,“ he muttered to himself.

Klavier moved from the chair to the couch next to Apollo.  "Dear Herr Forehead,” he said.  "Look at me.“

Apollo refused.  No no no no no, he muttered to himself under his breath.  Oh my god, oh my god, oh my GOD.

Klavier chuckled quietly and removed Apollo’s hands from covering his face.  He tilted Apollo’s chin so that they were facing each other.  "Mein Gott, Herr Forehead,” he said.  "I thought you were able to read people’s minds in court… so what have you been doing all this time?“  And with that, he leaned over and gently kissed Apollo straight on the forehead.

Apollo blinked.  "I don’t READ MINDS in court, I can only tell when people are lying.” Then the magnitude of what just happened hit him.  "Wait…huh?“

Klavier readjusted so that his own forehead leaned against Apollo’s and breathed deeply.  "Herr Forehead.  Apollo.  Which one do you prefer?”

“Um, either is fine,” Apollo replied.  He still had no idea what exactly was going on, but he made no effort to move.  Klavier felt so warm against his skin, and he smelled so good, like a mix of leather and some fancy, expensive cologne.

Klavier laughed softly.  "I thought you hated the nickname.“

Apollo blushed.  "Well, in COURT.  But I guess it kind of grew on me.”  Klavier was so close, he smelled so good, could this really be what he thought it was?

“Schatz,” Klavier said. “I’ve liked you ever since we met in court. I like your eyes too. Your wish was perfect.”

Apollo opened his mouth to respond but nothing came out.  He was literally speechless.  He was so close to Klavier, so he leaned in a little closer until their mouths were almost touching and then–

The kitten jumped into his lap.  Startled, Apollo leapt back so forcefully that he almost knocked the couch over.  He sunk back onto the couch as they looked at each other and both started laughing uncontrollably.  "Oh my god,“ Apollo said.  "OH MY GOD.”  The kitten, also startled, meandered to the chair instead and crawled into a ball to sleep.

Apollo’s eyes focused back onto Klavier, who had been watching him.  Those gorgeous blue eyes, which he wanted to melt into, were looking at him.  He couldn’t quite believe it, but he supposed maybe it was time for them to both be happy after all they’d been through. Something to that degree came out of his mouth before he realized it, and Klavier’s smile turned real, more genuine than he had ever seen.

Slowly their faces inched closer and closer to each other, like in the Pocky game, except this time, there was no Pocky, and this time they would both win.  They kissed.  Klavier’s mouth was warm and sweet and tasted like sunshine with traces of minty gum.  And as they wrapped their arms around each other, deepening the kiss, all Apollo could think of was how in the world he had survived his entire life without this beautiful man kissing him.  He never wanted to go another day without that luxury.  He hoped he would never have to.  He imagined his life was forever changed.

And for that he would have to thank Trucy. Endlessly.

EPILOGUE

“So, how are you going to raise a kitten if you’re traveling all the time?”

“Ach, I was hoping you could help with that, liebling,” Klavier responded.  "He can be ours?“

Apollo smiled.  A warm body to sleep next to him and to keep him company while Klavier was touring sounded good.  "Okay, but I also think you shouldn’t give up on being a prosecutor forever,” he said.  As he looked around the dressing room, his gaze found the fishbowl filled with tickets.  "You know, I can’t really believe that out of an entire auditorium of fangirls, you picked MY ticket out.“  He started walking towards the fishbowl to take a closer look.

"It was just fate, don’t you think?” Klavier responded easily.  In moments the star was right there next to Apollo, and had confiscated the fishbowl.  "And I’m only taking a break from prosecuting, it’s not my intention to give it up forever.“

Apollo’s attention was still on the fishbowl though. "Come on Klav, I just want to take a look.”  When Klavier turned pink, he couldn’t help it at being called 'Klav,' and shook his head, Apollo took a different approach. The shorter man whipped his head back towards the sitting area and feigned worry. “Oh my god, hey, you better check on the kitten, he’s breathing kind of funny.”

“WHAT?!”  Klavier dropped the fishbowl and rushed over to the sleeping kitten on the chair.  Too easy.  Apollo bent down and grabbed a handful of tickets from inside in the bowl.  The first one said AA26.  The next… AA26.  And the one after that too.  Wait…

“Our kitten is just fine,” Klavier called, after checking the little one’s heart rate.  He returned to where Apollo had now stood up, tickets in hand.  Apollo glared at Klavier and held out the tickets, silently demanding an explanation.

“Oh… um, well,” Klavier said weakly.  "You see, it was the young fräulein's idea of a good magic trick…”

Apollo continued to glare until Klavier put his hands up to concede.  "I’m sorry schatz, but I really wanted you on stage with me today.  Partly because I read the letters just prior, and I couldn't wait to see you.  But also so I could do something for you, anything for you, since you’ve done so much for me.  Without you, I would have had no idea the evils lurking in some of the people closest to me.  I am eternally grateful.” He sighed. “Forgive me, I know it was selfish. And not fair to my fans. I'll make it up to them somehow.” He held out his hands, and Apollo’s eyes softened.

He took Klavier’s hands and pulled the superstar towards him as their lips met in another crushing kiss.  He breathed in the scent of Klavier and wrapped his hands around the taller man’s back.  He smiled into the kiss as he felt Klavier’s hands encircling his own body so that they were like two pieces of the same puzzle reunited for good.

Hmm, I guess I can give them a few more minutes of privacy.  After peeking in the doorway briefly, Trucy slowly shut it tight once more.
