Chapter Text
Being a secret agent for the dendro archon when she was still imprisoned, and the co-worker of a famous architect in Sumeru, your schedule was pretty packed. You would sometimes last weeks without sleeping, and that is thanks to your non-human features; you weren’t from this world after all. Kaveh himself would even urge you to take breaks, but you never had anything better to do so you never listened. You’ve been at this for way too long but oh well, it’s a habit you can’t help.
You finally got to see the dendro archon in person after she was rescued by a heroic group.
“It’s nice to finally see you in person. You’ve only ever visited me in my dreams, lord Kusunali.” You smiled.
“Heehee, it’s lovely to see you in person too, y/n.” She beamed.
“So I will be able to take orders from you directly now?” You asked with a curious grin on your face, to which the kind child nodded.
“I’m looking forward to it!” You cheered. “I must thank you for the great opportunity you’ve given me. I feel blessed to be working for you, of all people.” You added with a blushy smile.
The child simply chuckled at your excitement and promised to summon you the instant she needed help.
The next day, you waited impatiently for an order, one that you didn’t receive.
The day after, you received a very simple order.
“Please assist the scribe with his new position as a sage, and tell him everything he needs to know.” She requested.
“Your wish is my command.” You smiled elegantly, shifting away gracefully .
Your eyes scanned the room for the scribe “AlHaitham”, only to find him arguing with what seems to be…. Your co-worker? They know each other?? How interesting.
“Oh hello y/n !” You heard a familiar voice. It was the traveler and her floating friend greeting you with their adorable grins.
“Oh hello, traveler and Paimon. What brings you two here today?” You asked.
“We’re just here to say hi to AlHaitham.” The floating friend replied, gesturing over to the irritated scribe ahead of her.
“And what about you, y/n?” Lumine questioned.
“I have a few matters to discuss with Mr. AlHaitham.” You answered.
“Matters like what?” Paimon interrogated.
“You’ll know soon.” You lowered your voice, winking at the confused floating thing.
Once Kaveh seemed to be done with whatever business he had with the scribe, you headed over to the man to open up your discussion with him.
“Uhm, Mister AlHaitham?” You called, awaiting a response.
“Oh, y/n.” He turned to you. “Do you need anything?” He asked.
“As a matter of fact, yes.” You smiled, taking a seat in front of him. The traveler and Paimon also took a seat after greeting the scribe.
“Lord Kusunali has sent me to inform you of your new position and give you some important information in regards to it.” You began.
“Hmm?” He eyed you suspiciously, unaware of your relationship with the denro archon.
“Y/n is Lesser Lord Kusunali’s assistant, so anything Lesser lord Kusunali is unable to do at the moment, y/n does it !” Paimon interrupted, and the traveler nodded when AlHaitham turned to her.
“Alright, let’s take a look.” He replied. You handed him the sheets and awaited any questions.
“Thanks.” He smiled slightly.
“No questions, sir?” You asked, before AlHaitham shook his head.
“I’ll be on my way then, have a nice day you three.” You grinned, leaving the library.
“Y/n.” The dendro archon called, summoning you in an instant.
“Please take care of the balladeer’s body while the traveler and I deal with the rest.” She ordered.
“Will do, Lord Kusunali.” You nodded, disappearing in an instant.
You approached the injured body of the Fatui harbinger, carefully carrying it to the sanctuary of Surasthana. You used your healing abilities and took care of the deep wounds the balladeer suffered from, gently wrapping them with bandages afterwards.
He didn’t respond consciously to anything, but he was breathing and had a stable heart rate. This led you to the conclusion that he is in a state of coma.
Shortly after Lord Kusunali came and you informed her on the matter, she announced some surprising news.
“Irminsul has been saved !” She declared.
“That’s amazing !” You clapped. “You’re amazing, Lord Kusunali !” You cheered.
“Hee hee.” She hid her hands bashfully. “You’re too kind.” She praised.
You spent a great deal of time working and guarding the unconscious puppet, until he finally woke up in both your presence and the dendro archon’s presence.
“Can you hear me?” You questioned, checking if Scaramouche might need some rehabilitation.
His face was blank, hopeless, and downright miserable. You waved in front of his face, checking if he heard you. He still gave no response.
You placed his head on your lap, further investigating if there’s any wound you missed or something. However, the balladeer aggressively pulled his head away from you and hugged the two of his arms protectively.
“Don’t touch me, filthy human !” He ridiculed, glaring at you with pure hatred. You felt like Lord Kusunali was about to say something , perhaps thinking of a way to respond to the puppet’s reaction. You turned to the child and gave her a reassuring smile, so she backed away a bit, observing you and learning.
You let out a small chuckle.
“What’s so funny?” Scaramouche scolded, but you simply smiled, staring at your lap.
“You’re mistaken, child. I am no human.” You smiled with grace, your fingers running through the field of flowers.
“And I am no child.” He glared. “Where am I? And what do you plan to do with me?” He raised his voice, ripping off the bandages you’d wrapped around him. Before you could answer him, the dendro archon called for you.
“I’ll give you some time to think.” You got up, shifting away, and watching him with Nahida from afar.
“He needs to process his feelings.” Nahida pointed.
“Right.” You nodded in agreement.
